Datsun car brand history. How datsun cars are assembled at AvtoVAZ. Datsun Whose Car Assembly Where Datsun Is Produced Is He Before

home / Driving

In Togliatti, the release of a new budget foreign car has begun - the Datsun sedan with a strange name on-DO, developed specifically for the Russian market, a joint creation of the Russian-French-Japanese alliance.

New President. Growing up in southern Sweden, he joined the Swedish armed forces at the age of 19. He is a graduate of the Swedish Military Academy, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Stockholm University and is a graduate of the senior management program at Harvard University. In the Swedish armed forces, he rose to the rank of major.

The board of directors of AvtoVAZ approved Andersson as president on November 5, 2013. He took office on January 13, 2014. From that time on, Bo Andersson became chairman of the board of AvtoVAZ.

“The first thing I did was go to production. Early in the morning I went to several restrooms and found that they were very dirty and some did not work at all. The team was well prepared for the meeting with me, because it had three months for this, so I did not need an official introduction to the team. I said, “Focus on one thing today - latrines. Make sure people can use them. "

1. And he did! And not just restrooms. The area is very clean! In communication, gentle, intelligent and very success-oriented. Lives in Togliatti, flies in economy class.

2. On the territory of the enterprise it is absolutely forbidden to smoke, litter and ride mopeds. Therefore, if you need to go to another workshop, then you take a bike and drove it.

3. The very line of the conveyor is two-story. The car is assembled in several stages.

4. Installation of interior elements. Throughout the assembly path, it is recorded on the sheets what, where and by whom was installed in a given car. In the photo - the sheet on the right.

5. Assembly of the Datsun on-DO cabin. In fact, Datsun is LadaGranta, but only Datsun

7. At one time, the Kalina conveyor became a real breakthrough in the domestic auto industry: robotic welding lines were supplied by Kuka, a fully automated painting complex - Eisenmann.

Undercarriage assembly line:

8. Now the AvtoVAZ conveyor produces 817 vehicles every day on the Kalinovskaya platform, of which 60 are Datsun on-DO. If the public tastes the novelty, the plant is ready to introduce a third shift.

9. There are a lot of women in the company. Wait like this all day with your hands up!

11. This is how Datsun's driver's seat looks like:

12. A month later, LADA switches to pre-order from consumers. If you buy the cheapest complete set, you can order whatever you want in it. But you have to wait. The car will be assembled to order.

14. Screwing the heat shield to Datsun:

16. It is very strict to ensure that all parts of the machine that may be damaged are covered with a protective film.

17. Filling process fluids:

18. If something is wrong, write the following notes:

19. Line for filling with liquids and the first start of the engine.

20. Such cleaners go around the shops. Everything is straight sterile!

21. OTK. Verify numbers, equipment. The engine is started and sent to the stand, where the wheel alignment is done.

22. Additional visual and mechanical check of assembly quality.

23. Information stand:

24. Grease, touch-up, check.

25. And now, the finished car is sent to a car dealership. Personally, I have a great impression of the plant. Of course, the muddy guards, the pretentious and tastelessly dressed managers have not gone anywhere. But things are moving forward.

26. Lada Granta and Datsun on-DO are cars of the same level, the recently announced price tag also proves. In the basic version, which offers electric power and steering adjustment, heated front seats, folding rear seats, ABS, as well as a driver's airbag and a child seat mounting system, Datsun on-DO is available for 329 thousand rubles. For comparison, a similarly equipped Grant costs 324,400 rubles.

And the brand's management promises a higher level of service: supposedly, the managers of car dealerships, of which only 25 will open at first, will be more polite, and the service will be of better quality. Let's see.

The revived Japanese brand Datsun, which belongs to Nissan, is now focused on the production of budget cars. The first model of the manufacturer was the budget Datsun on-DO sedan, designed specifically for the Russian market. Its presentation took place on April 4, 2014 in Moscow.

The new Datsun on-DO 2019 (photo and price) is built on the basis of the Lada Kalina 2, and specialists from the Nissan global center located in Japan worked on the design of the model. The car received a hexagonal radiator grille, which has become a trademark of Datsun models, large lighting equipment and a large rear overhang.

Configurations and prices Datsun on-DO 2019

MT5 - 5-speed mechanics, AT4 - 4-speed automatic.

In general, the appearance of Datsan on-DO 2019 resembles Grant, especially in profile. But the rejection of the windows in the rear pillars visually made the already impressive stern even more heavier. From this, the sedan looks somewhat disproportionate and overweight.

The overall length of Datsun on-DO is 4337 mm, which is 77 mm more than that of Lada Granta, but the width (1700) and height (1500) are completely identical. At the same time, the trunk volume of the Datsan is 530 liters (10 liters exceeds the Grants compartment), and the ground clearance is as much as 185 millimeters (when fully loaded, the clearance is reduced to 168 mm).

The architecture of the sedan's interior also strongly resembles the Grant one. The steering wheel and instrument panel, climate control unit and dashboard were borrowed from the latter. But the design of the front panel and the organization of the center console are decided in a different style.

For a long time, only a 1.6-liter 8-valve VAZ engine was available as a power unit for Datsun on-DO 2019, available with a capacity of 82 and 87 hp. (140 Nm). It is aggregated in tandem with a 5-speed manual transmission (a version with a four-speed Jatco automatic transmission appeared in the fall of 2016). From zero to hundred, the initial sedan accelerates in 12.9 seconds. (The 87-horsepower version is 0.7 s faster), and the top speed is 165 and 173 km / h, respectively.

In the fall of two thousand seventeen, a sixteen-valve 1.6 with a capacity of 106 hp appeared in the lineup, but, unlike the source, here the main pair was changed for it from 3.7: 1 to 3.9: 1, which made it possible to reduce the acceleration time to hundreds from 10.9 (on Ladakh) to 10.5 sec. So far, the top engine is available only with automatic transmission, but in the future, an automatic transmission will appear for it.

Auto production is established at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant in Togliatti, sales of new items started in the summer of 2014. The price of the new Datsun on-DO 2019 in the basic version of Access is 461,000 rubles, and the cost of the car in more advanced configurations Trust and Dream starts from 493,000 and 552,000 rubles, respectively. The surcharge for an automatic transmission (available only for an 87-horsepower engine) is 50,000 rubles, and versions with a 106-horsepower engine are 15,000 more expensive than an 87-horsepower one.

  • The initial version of the sedan is equipped with a driver's airbag, electric power steering, ABS + EBD (electronic brake force distribution), emergency brake assist (BAS), a height-adjustable steering column, heated front seats and folding rear seat backs.
  • The intermediate version Trust has two front airbags, foglights, electric and heated side mirrors, an on-board computer and central locking. And for a surcharge, such a car can be retrofitted with climate control and a multimedia system with Bluetooth and four speakers.
  • Finally, the top-end Datsun on-DO is already equipped with multimedia and climate control in the base, plus the Dream version sports rear power windows and 15-inch alloy wheels. At the same time, an optional stabilization system, side airbags, light and rain sensors, rear parking sensors and a standard navigation system with a 7.0-inch color display are offered.

To implement the model, a branded dealer network is being created, which at first was represented only in 15 cities (Volgograd, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Orenburg, Ryazan, Samara, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk), but over time it should cover all major cities, and the number of centers will reach a hundred.

Also, the decoding of the name of this model deserves a separate mention. According to the manufacturer, the word "DO" is associated with Japanese traditional culture and is translated into Russian as "path" (also means movement), and "on" is consonant with the pronoun "he", which is intended to "emphasize the masculine component in the character of the car."

In general, the name of the automobile can be translated as "the desire of the brand to open access to mobility and freedom of movement for all."

Photos of the new Datsun On Do

With the appearance of new Datsun cars on the Russian market, many buyers have questions. How did you manage to set the cost of less than 400,000 rubles? Who will sell this car and, in general, where is Datsun on-DO assembled? You will find answers to all these questions in this article. We will also consider the advantages of cars of these brands, the main disadvantages and experience of drivers who have or have these cars. Below in the photo is the car "Datsun". These machines are discussed below.

Where is Datsun on-DO collected? Manufacturer country

Back in 2012, Nissan said they intended to revive the Datsun brand. The Japanese automobile giant decided to make budget cars for the market of underdeveloped countries under this brand. The main feature of such cars was their adaptation for each market separately. For example, for the Indian market, where only the price of the car plays a role, the Japanese "Datsun" of one configuration was created, for the Russian market - another. Considering the fact that Russians place higher demands on even cheaper models, Datsun had to try hard.

In addition, when developing a car, one has to take into account the prevailing climate in Russia and the quality of the road surface. It is also important that the engines and the fuel system accept domestic gasoline. The Japanese decided that there are already such cars on the Russian market - these are Lada Kalina and Lada Granta. So they decided not to bother and conclude a contract with AvtoVAZ.

Cars "Lada" and "Datsun" have one platform

After that it became clear where "Datsun on-DO" was collected. These Japanese cars are assembled in Togliatti at the same plant and on the same production line as the Lada Kalina and Lada Granta cars. Also, the new "Datsun" are made on the same platform that is used in the models of the domestic auto industry. According to the head of the AvtoVAZ company, Dutsun will be the impetus for the development of the concern.

This also means that all improvements to Dutsun will appear very quickly in Kalina and Grants. For example, Datsun on-DO vehicles have reshaped exterior mirrors that significantly reduce wind noise at high speeds. This also helps to reduce the level of dirt on the mirrors. A similar solution will soon appear on Ladakh.

Why did Japanese manufacturers choose exactly platforms The fact is that they are cheap and simple, all components for them are manufactured in Russia. Consequently, the cost of spare parts is also low. And so it happened that the new "Datsun" also have a low price due to the low cost of the platform.

Differences between Dutsun and Lada

Structurally, cars "Datsun" and "Grant" have differences. The main one is exterior and interior design. But as for the technical parameters, the models are identical. Moreover, Lada cars have several engine configurations - with 16 and 8 valves. Also, these cars can be equipped with an automatic or manual transmission. The "Datsun" car has only an 8-valve engine with an output of 87 horsepower and is also equipped with a manual or automatic transmission. There were also statements that a budget version of "Datsun" with an engine with a connecting rod-piston group would appear, but there will be few such cars. Photos of cars "Datsun" and "Lada Granta" you see in this section.

Datsun improvements

It was also important for Datsun to create advantages over Lada cars. Therefore, the developers have improved the sound insulation of the cabin. As a result, felt fenders appeared on the rear arches, which is why there is much less noise in the area of the rear wheels. The cars also received shock absorbers with improved parameters, other springs and brakes. You can appreciate all the advantages of new Japanese cars thanks to the Datsun on-DO test drive.

A unique feature of these Japanese-Russian cars is a huge trunk of 530 liters, which is 10 liters more than in Granta cars. Perhaps, in this class it is the "Datsun on-DO" car that has the largest trunk.

Price

Considering where "Datsun on-DO" is assembled, what kind of platform is it and the components used, one should not be surprised at the low price. On the official website there is a promotional price for this car - 342,000 rubles with the participation of the buyer in the Datsun recycling program and when buying a car on credit.

Without discounts, a standard one with an engine with an output of 87 horsepower will cost 442,000 rubles. The most expensive configuration of the Dream II of this car with a 4-speed automatic transmission will cost 617,000 rubles. You can test drive "Datsun on-DO" in the company's car dealerships, which are located in many cities of Russia.

Note that even the basic version of this model has a driver's airbag, heated seats and mirrors. The top-end configuration includes multimedia with a USB interface, a navigation system with Cityguide software, 4 airbags, an ESP system, and heated windshield.

Problems of Japanese-Russian joint production

Considering that Japanese cars are manufactured at Russian factories where Lada are produced with some problems, are not Japanese manufacturers afraid that AvtoVAZ will spoil the attitude of buyers towards the Japanese brand? After all, the problem of Russian cars is not at all in the design. The quality of assembly work and weak components are the main disadvantages of domestic cars.

Consequently, when preparing a project for joint work with AvtoVAZ, Datsun turned its attention to the modernization of production. In 2013, Nissan specialists checked the conveyor and made about 40 recommendations for improving the production line. Comments were made in various areas, from quality control to recommendations for the manufacture of new containers for transporting parts. Today, many foreigners work at the AvtoVAZ plant, who are supervising and training.

Car flaws and engine dropout scandal

There has been a lot of information on the internet in recent months that Datsun vehicles are losing engines. That is, the motor mount breaks down, and the engine literally sags under the hood, and sometimes even clings to the ground. This applies not only to On-Do models, but also to other vehicles from the line. Moreover, the case is not an isolated one. Many owners of these machines complain about such a design flaw.

Similar problems also arose on Lada Grant cars, but in the latter case, the owner managed to sue the company for about 900 thousand rubles. Consequently, there was a similar precedent. However, the owners of Datsun cars are trying unsuccessfully to win the court. The fact is that a court-ordered examination ruled that the engine was falling out as a result of damage to the suspension and destruction of the engine support brackets. This, according to Datsun, is due to non-compliance with the operating rules, namely, due to shock inertial loads on the engine brackets. Such loads occur as a result of driving the vehicle over road bumps.

Forensic examination

It should be noted that the examination does not reveal any manufacturing defects that would affect the strength characteristics of the motor brackets. This means that such supports are provided by the suspension design, and are not an isolated case resulting from a defect or manufacturing defect. At the same time, Datsun does not pay compensation to its customers and does not carry out repairs in accordance with the warranty, since the warranty book states that the service does not cover defects and breakdowns that arose as a result of non-compliance with the rules for using the car.

This suggests that cars of this brand are completely unsuitable for use on Russian roads. And in general, there is a technically incorrect calculation of the loads that are perceived by the brackets as a result of vehicle operation. And no matter how Datsun tries to write off such shortcomings on the improper operation of cars, the problem does exist.

Also, on various Internet portals and forums, users complain that in the official Datsun group of the VKontakte social network, group leaders banally block users who complain and ask uncomfortable questions about dropping motors.

Conclusion

And everything started well with these cars. The excellent Japanese concern Nissan, which is trusted in Japan and around the world, has come to the Russian market to sell reliable cars of Japanese quality. Expectations were very good, and the cars, with their good characteristics, turned out to be worthy, until the famous scandal with engines happened. Most likely, the Datsun company itself has nothing to do with it, since the cars of this brand use the platform of the "Lada" cars, and with the "Grant", as you know, there were similar precedents.

It has long been no secret to anyone that budget cars produced in Togliatti and offered in the Russian Federation under the Japanese brand Datsun are nothing more than substantially revised Lada. And there is nothing Japanese here, perhaps, except for the approach to design - the very one that makes the owners of Granta and Kalina literally turn their necks at the sight of new AvtoVAZ products and wonder if they have chosen? It is definitely worth pondering, because looking at the Datsun mi-DO hatchback in profile, you will certainly recognize Kalina, and upon closer inspection, you realize that this is something new. Read on to learn more about what the mi-DO five-door is and how interesting it is!

Design

Having entered the Russian market in 2015 after the on-DO sedan, the mi-DO hatchback was primarily remarkable not only because of the different body type, but also due to the presence of the Jatco automatic transmission. Now the Jatco automatic transmission is also equipped with a four-door, but what curious then can a model with a flat "stern" offer? A more predatory look, at least, which is obvious if you look at the official photos of the car.

As with the on-DO, the exterior of the five-door was developed at the Nissan Design Center in Japan, under the direction of Koji Nagano. The efforts of the team from the Land of the Rising Sun have borne fruit: mi-DO received a controversial, but unambiguously recognizable design, which cannot be confused with anything. Firstly, the hatch was equipped with the original front bumper, and secondly, it was equipped with headlights with fashionable lenses - not the same as the sedan. In addition, the car has a massive hexagonal radiator grille with chrome edging, made in the form of a honeycomb, large informative rear-view mirrors and round "fog lights" in wide recesses. From the side, the model strongly resembles Kalina, but from the back it is already something else. In the "stern" part of the body, attention is drawn to very nice vertical lamps and a large trunk lid, which hides a modest volume of cargo space - only 240 liters. with the rear seats folded out.

Design

Mi-DO is based on a platform from Lada Kalina and Granta: it has MacPherson struts in front, and a twisting beam in the back. Considering that at the beginning of 2014 Kalina acquired an improved suspension, which Renault-Nissan specialists worked on, the result of its refinement is now presented as one of the advantages of Datsun mi-DO. For the sake of improving handling, Nissan engineers carried out work on installing gas-filled shock absorbers, changing the spring settings, increasing the stiffness and diameter of the anti-roll bars and increasing the ground clearance by 14 mm - up to 174 mm (when fully loaded, the clearance is 160-165 mm). The braking system is equipped with a new vacuum booster, and the gearless EUR received the original settings.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

Thanks to the 174mm ground clearance, the hatchback copes well with most obstacles on Russian roads. In order to survive the harsh Russian winter, it already has heated front seats and outside mirrors in its "base", and a heated windshield is added to the top-end configuration. To adapt to our realities, the Nissan employees also worked on vibration and noise isolation. The motor is calibrated to increase idle stability. To optimize the exhaust system, its rear attachment point "moved" to the side member and an original flexible bellows is used. In addition, the insulation of the engine shield, wheel arches, floor, hood and luggage compartment has been revised. To improve the "Shumkov", seals for doorways, sills and glass were re-laid. For manual transmission with cable drive, the profiles of the teeth of the main pair, 2nd and reverse gears have been changed.

Comfort

The mi-DO doors open wide, allowing passengers to enter the cabin comfortably. The salon is not the most spacious, but there is enough space for 5 people, and there is no need to complain about a particular lack of space above your head. The rear sofa is quite comfortable, as are the front seats, which boast a smoothly adjustable backrest. The seating and interior design is predominantly dark, with the only bright spot being the small blue Datsun logo on the huge plastic 3-spoke steering wheel. The steering wheel is height adjustable only. The steering wheel clearly lacks a leather cover, and the hard plastic on the dashboard is not very pleasant to the touch.

The center console flaunts a modest-sized monochrome display of the media system with a scattering of buttons on the sides (in the top-end version, a seven-inch touchscreen is required). Above it there are simple ventilation deflectors, and below it is a climate control unit with three round-shaped regulators. The driver has a USB-input for connecting mobile devices, a voluminous "glove compartment", cup holders and a simple instrument panel in the form of two analog "wells" of a speedometer and a tachometer with an information screen in the middle.

The standard equipment of the hatchback includes only two airbags - for the driver and front passenger. In addition, the basic version has anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency braking assistance (BAS) and brake force distribution (EBD). Side airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and rear parking sensors are provided only in the top-end version.

In pre-top configurations, "multimedia" is available with a monochrome screen, 4 speakers, a USB connector for connecting gadgets, an SD card slot, Bluetooth and Handsfree. The most expensive version has an infotainment complex with a seven-inch color touchscreen and standard navigation. The sound quality is average, the image is "four".

Datsun Mi-Do Specifications

In the engine compartment of the mi-DO there is a 4-cylinder petrol "eight-valve" VAZ-11186 with a volume of 1596 cm3, producing 87 hp. and 140 Newton meters of peak torque - we are talking about an improved VAZ-11183 engine (82 hp), which is installed on the Granta and the base Datsun on-DO. 87 h.p. provided by a 39% lightweight connecting rod and piston group. The engine complies with the Euro-4 eco-standard and is combined with a five-speed "mechanics" or with a 4-speed automatic transmission from the Japanese company Jatco (a subsidiary of Nissan). The four-speed automatic transmission with the JF414E index was presented by Jatco in Japan on August 30, 2010. The drivetrain was designed specifically for the small front-wheel drive models offered in emerging markets, so it's simple yet unkillable. The previous "automatic" FF4AT, by the way, became a bestseller - over 11 million copies were sold all over the world.

An article about Datsun cars: history of the brand, Datsun models in Russia and their characteristics, brand prospects in the Russian market. At the end of the article - a video about the pros and cons of Datsun On-Do.

The content of the article:

Budget-class cars are traditionally very popular among Russians due to the relatively low level of income of the population.

However, it is wrong to think that budget cars are bad - they often use time-tested technical solutions and have an excellent price / quality ratio, which automatically turns them into reliable "hard workers" capable of performing their daily tasks without unnecessary pathos.

One of the representatives of such cars in Russia is the Japanese brand Datsun, the model range of which in our country is represented by two cars - the On-Do sedan and the Mi-Do compact hatchback. This manufacturer, even if it does not enjoy overwhelming success, has a stable demand among our fellow citizens.

The history of the Datsun brand

In the photo: Datsun 240Z

The history of the brand dates back to 1911 - it was then that M. Hashimoto founded a small company called Kaisinsha.

Three years later, the first car was produced, which received the name Dat-Go - it is formed from the first letters of the names of the main investors. In 1918, the company received a new name - Kwaishinsha Motor Car and began to manufacture small trucks aimed at meeting the military needs of the country.

In 1920, due to a decrease in demand for military vehicles, the company's management thought about merging with other car brands. In 1926, the two brands were merged, as a result of which the company received a new name - DAT Jidosha Seizo Co.

The first significant project of the newly-made brand was the creation of a compact car with an engine volume of less than 500 cubic meters. see. It was planned to be produced under the name "Datson" ("son of DAT"), but since the word "son" was consonant with the Japanese word for "damage", the car was named Datsun.

In 1934, the manufacturer's name was changed to Nissan Motor Co. After 3 years, Japan began military action against China, after which the Datsun plant was redesigned for the production of freight vehicles.

It is noteworthy that until 1958, the company's passenger models were produced exclusively under the Datsun brand, while under the Nissan logo, trucks were mainly produced.

In 1958, the company began supplying Datsun cars to the US market, and a year later the dealer network of the Japanese brand covered all the states of America, offering in them not only 113, but also 310 models, better known as "Bluebird".

Since 1962, machines under the Datsun brand have been exported to the European market. In subsequent years, the company produced such models as the Datsun 1000, B10, Bluebird 510 and the legendary 240Z, which went down in history as one of the most affordable sports cars. It was thanks to the 240Z that the brand managed to become the main prize-winner of the East African Rally twice.

In 1981, the brand's management decided to rename the Datsun brand to Nissan, which took about 5 years and over 500 thousand dollars. Curiously, even after the renaming process was completed, the Datsun brand was more recognizable than the Nissan brand.

In 2012, the auto concern Nissan made a strong-willed decision to "resurrect" the once popular brand Datsun, which was assigned the role of a manufacturer of inexpensive cars for developing countries, including Russia.

The history of Datsun in Russia began in 2012, after an agreement was signed between the Renault-Nissan automobile alliance and the domestic AvtoVAZ on the development and assembly of Datsun cars at the facilities of the Togliatti Automobile Plant.

The debut of the first model of the company took place in the spring of 2014 - it was the budget sedan On-Do, built on the basis of the front-wheel drive Lada Granta.

The second model was presented in February 2015 - it was the Mi-Do hatchback, specially designed for the Russian market based on the domestic Lada Kalina.

Main features of On-Do and Mi-Do models

Sales of the On-Do sedan in Russia started in the summer of 2014. Its main competitors are AvtoVAZ cars and second-hand "foreign cars".

The machine has the following dimensions:

Length, mm4337
Width, mm1700
Height, mm1500
Wheelbase, mm2476

The ground clearance height deserves special attention, which is an impressive 185 mm, which even some crossovers presented in Russia can envy.

The car interior has a frankly budgetary appearance. Nevertheless, the assembly and quality of materials are noticeably superior to those in Lada Granta. Inside the car, 5 adult riders can sit, but the rear center rider will be slightly uncomfortable with the high transmission tunnel.

Trunk volume is 530 liters, which is one of the best in the class.

Under the hood of the car is a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, available in two boost levels - 82 and 87 hp. A pair of it is either a 5-level manual transmission, or a 4-band "automatic".

Despite its budget, the top-end equipment of the car is capable of boasting the presence of:

  • 15-inch light-alloy "rollers";
  • fog light;
  • electric windows for all doors;
  • central lock;
  • climate control;
  • electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors;
  • multimedia systems with 7 "monitor and navigation;
  • rear parking sensors;
  • light / rain sensors;
  • frontal airbags;
  • ESC, ABS and BAS systems.
The main feature of Datsun On-Do, whoever says anything, is the price starting at 374 thousand rubles.

If we talk about the Mi-Do model, then its sales began in 2015. Externally, the car completely repeats the decisions of Lada Kalina, the only exception is the front part, made in the corporate key of the "revived" brand.

The dimensions of the Mi-Do are:

Length, mm3950
Width, mm1700
Height, mm1500
Wheelbase, mm2476

The hatchback rises above the roadway by 174 mm, which is a very good indicator for a car of this class.

The interior design of the car completely repeats that in the On-Do model, which means that potential buyers can count on budget finishing materials and good build quality. Inside the car can accommodate 5 passengers, although the back row does not shine with an abundance of free space, so four of us are better off on long trips.

Trunk volume is only 260 liters, which can be slightly increased due to the folding second row of seats. However, you cannot count on a flat loading area.

The hatchback is driven by an engine similar to the Datsun On-Do model, also presented in an after-load of 82 and 87 hp.

The budget equipment is frankly poor, but the top-end version offers:

  • 15-inch light-alloy rollers;
  • fog lights;
  • central locking;
  • power windows for all doors;
  • cruise control with speed limiter;
  • navigation;
  • light sensor / rain sensor;
  • ESC, ABS and BAS systems;
  • climate control;
  • heated windshield;
The minimum price for Datsun Mi-Do is 445 thousand rubles.

Company plans for the near future

Rumor has it that closer to 2020, two new Datsun models may be presented in Russia, one of which will be a crossover. Unfortunately, there is no exact information about the models yet, but it is assumed that the new crossover will be based on the bestseller of the Russian market in the person of Renault Duster.

In the Indian market, the company is selling the seven-seater Datsun Go + station wagon with might and main, and in the Indonesian market - the Datsun Cross compact crossover, which was introduced in January 2018.

The station wagon is based on the Nissan Micra chassis and boasts a 1.2-liter, 68-horsepower petrol engine. The Datsun Cross model is equipped with a similar engine, however, two degrees of boost are offered for it - for 68 and 78 hp.

Conclusion

Today the Datsun brand is one of the main players in the class of budget cars on the Russian market. As of the end of 2018, the brand was ranked 17th in the ranking of the best-selling cars in the Russian Federation, and there is no doubt that the company is heading in the right direction and, if the current concept is maintained, in the next few years, it is quite possible that it will be able to enter the TOP 10 most popular brands in Russia.
