Why Toyota Land Cruiser is so expensive. Why Toyota Land Cruiser is so expensive

What is the difference between a diesel Land Cruiser 200 and a gasoline one, how not to doze off while driving both versions, and something about a very important button. Before you take the new Land Cruiser 200 on an extreme journey to the mountains or on the shell roofs of your own yard, be sure to use the RSCA OFF button.

It disables the side curtain airbags and seat belt pretensioners. The instructions say to press it when your ride could end in a flip. It's just better to buy a second LC 200 right away, because after using this button, the first one is unlikely to be recoverable. And if it survives, then you still want to check whether the “two hundredth” ford overcomes the declared 700 mm deep? This applies to both petrol and diesel versions, but we will start our comparison test with the latter.

WHY IS HE RUMBLING?
You will immediately recognize the diesel Land Cruiser 200 by the tractor sound, disgusting brakes and sluggish acceleration, almost ending immediately after 140 km / h. Why is he so rattled? I have not heard such a wild rumble from under the hood since the days of in-line six-cylinder diesel engines on the old "hundredths". The Discovery TDV6 rumbles about the same way when, after driving, the Finnish diesel fuel in its tank ends and our liquid is poured.

I accelerated and, when a line of cars loomed ahead, stuck in front of the speed bump, I began to slow down, leaving in front of me, as it seemed to me, enough room for maneuver. Phew! What mistake! The red Peugeot 207, which had previously been tangled underfoot, having seen my rapid approach in the rear-view mirror, quickly got out of its stupor and slipped through the "lying" course. With a snort of surprise (why do Japanese cars slow down like American ones?), I stopped to catch my breath and tweak the seat settings at the same time.

The back of the seat, or rather, its electric adjustment, was broken. This could not happen with a Toyota car, especially with a new one ... Just now I was pushing the brake pedal, with all my weight resting just on the back of the seat, which means that others before me were also squirming. What servo can handle that?

Trying not to disturb the brake pedal, I drove onto the Novorizhskaya highway, and up to a speed of 110-120 km / h everything looked ordinary. The next overtaking demanded to raise the speedometer needle to 130-140 km/h, and suddenly the speed dropped from 3500 to 3000, the next gear was switched on. Thrust disappeared in the middle of the maneuver. Further overtaking took place using the manual mode of the automatic transmission. It just didn't help much. This diesel runs briskly only on the bottoms, with such a character it is good in the city and on the ground, and not on the highway.

DO NOT SLEEP!
Ahead of us was the Zvenigorod quarry. For insurance, we enlisted the support of the Land Rover Defender 110 in order to pull the “200th” out of the off-road trap at the right time. Confidence in the future did not leave us while we plowed the ravines, evaluating the capabilities of the Toyota LC 200, and then the Defender sat down in the gully.

The shot of the 200th pulling out the 110th with a cable would look good on the wall in the Moscow representative office of Toyota, but we won’t give them this photo for anything. We'll hang it in the editorial office.

How insanely boring Toyota is next to all other SUVs! She just goes down the road, then she goes over to the snow, then she goes up the hill ... etc. I would put a huge blinking sign with a buzzer in it: "DO NOT SLEEP!" Because after ten minutes of being behind the wheel of the "two hundred" the driver easily starts up the snorer. I was already yawning in five minutes. She is too correct - and no emotions.

Struggling with sleep, we continued the test on snow and ice. "Toyota" diesel engine, issuing 615 Nm of torque in the range of 1800-2200 rpm, drove the car through the snow with both the traction control on and off. An active stabilizer helped to passability and comfortable movement over rough terrain. It maximized the articulation of the axles while keeping the wheels in contact with the road at all times. The diesel LC 200 was embarrassed only by an icy rise of about 30 degrees of commercials. However, with a good acceleration, this height also succumbed.

As a result, having received the maximum number of off-road points and the most modest mark for driving on the highway, the “two hundredth” was sent to the garage of the Toyota dealership. And we, tearing our eyelids stuck together and desperately struggling with elephantine yawns, went for a bucket of eleutherococcus.

Crawl FASTER
The next day I was already driving a petrol Land Cruiser 200 to compare both versions in hot pursuit. And the difference between them is not only in the motors. The petrol LC 200, unlike the diesel one, is equipped with crawl control. The off-road speed control system has three modes: 1 km/h, 3 km/h and 5 km/h. At the same time, crawl control also includes an electronic assistant when descending a mountain.

Is it really that simple? Turned the lever and you go without touching the pedals? Engaging the slowest mode of 1 km/h, I moved through the icy drops, trying to look relaxed. However, this failed, because the soft, comfortable Land Cruiser vibrated strongly under the chirp of the brake pads. Then I had to switch to the 3 km / h mode, our off-road is not so extreme. But even more suitable for civilian purposes was the fastest “creeping control” mode - 5 km / h. It is most likely the main one for owners of petrol versions of the Land Cruiser 200.

Off-road cruise control allows you to focus only on maneuvering, without being distracted by manipulating the gas pedal, and this alone saves a lot of mental and physical energy of the driver, who is trying with all his might not to damage the bumpers and sides of the car, the queue for which is longer than for benefits in the Social Security .

But in a dispute with the diesel version off-road, the gasoline one still seemed worse, despite the fashionable crawl control. The diesel easily climbs the drops and pulls more confidently in long climbs, and, most importantly, for this you don’t need to be distracted by the crawl control toggle switches and calculate the speed you need at the moment. A high-torque diesel will pull it out anyway.

PARTS: TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 200

FEAR "KAMAZ"
According to passport data, acceleration to a hundred for the diesel version (eight cylinders and 4.5 liters) is 8.6 s, and for the gasoline version (eight cylinders and 4.7 liters) - 9.2 s. Driving around the roads near Moscow on a diesel engine, I could not accelerate to 180 km / h, but on a gasoline one I did it easily and without any effort. In the sprint up to a hundred kilometers per hour, diesel is the first, but then it is clearly not. After 3200 rpm, the diesel does not pull, and the gasoline engine just wakes up. Hence the conclusion: the diesel version is not universal, but the equipment with a gasoline engine and a crawl control system is quite.

It's a pity. Diesel eats almost half as much fuel as gasoline, and is great off-road. But 90% of our suburban roads are two-lane dark polygons for half-dead KAMAZ trucks, and the topic of extreme overtaking is too relevant to be ignored.

FOUR WITH A PLUS
The Land Cruiser is a calm family car, averaged in all respects from birth. Not only for acceleration, but also for suspension. It seems that rolls in corners and longitudinal buildup are clearly present, but they do not interfere with driving. The smoothness of the ride is combined with a remarkable energy intensity, in which no speed bumps are scary. The directional stability is far from the best in the class, the steering wheel is too indulgent to the weak and dystrophic office rats.

Some call it "cruiser", others "cruiser". There is an option - "cruiser". Yakut policemen say "krauser". Now there is a gloomy nickname "two hundred". In any case, it is noticeably worse than the Range Rover and better than the Nissan Pathfinder Armada. He has a B with a plus in all subjects, and therefore he is extremely boring. So it was and so it will be if, having had enough of the ordinary, you do not get to the RSCA OFF button. Since you will do it anyway, I remind you that the TLC 200 on the passport overcomes a 100 percent slope (45 degrees), but the approach angle is 32 degrees, so after such a rise the front bumper will have to be disposed of. But one of your Toyotas is going to be thrown away anyway...

Toyota Land Cruiser: 100 or 200

Popular truth says: the best is the enemy of the good. Another wisdom hints that the new is always better than the old. This applies to everything, including cars.

Indeed, the new model, as a rule, surpasses the previous one in all or most parameters. But in the case of SUVs, alas, such a trick does not always work. The more modern the "rogue", the closer he gets to the asphalt. Is it really all so vague?

We learn about this after comparing the two machines. Both are Toyota Land Cruisers, only one is the "100" model, and the other is the successor Toyota Land Cruiser 200.

The design has changed, but not drastically. It's hard to say whether the "dvuhsotka" has become more beautiful or not. How many people, so many opinions. Some believe that the new model has become more solid, while others argue that the latest "Kruzak" is too massive. By the way, the Land Cruiser 200 has really grown up, and in all directions: in length, in width, and in height. But the cross-wheel base remained the same. Maybe because of this, the “two hundred” seems too heavy compared to the “hundred”.

But if the body design has not changed so dramatically, then in the cabin the changes are immediately visible. And not only in design. In the "dvuhsotka" better materials were used in interior trim: high-quality leather, soft plastic, rubberized inserts on the inner surfaces of the door handles. The steering column is adjustable not only in tilt angle, but also in reach.

The Land Cruiser 200 has a cooler panel! Healthy, for real men. There is an empty area next to the automatic transmission lever. In more expensive trim levels, it houses the system controls: Crawl Control, which allows you to maintain a constant speed when overcoming off-road; Multiterrain, which helps to achieve the most effective braking in all conditions; US and DAC to help you get down and up the mountain safely. The monumental dashboard of the Land Cruiser 100 in gray tones seems gloomy against the background of the cheerful Dvuhsotka panel.

But the difference in the size of the door handles is especially striking. After the usual Toyota openers that are installed on the "weave", the handles on the new "Kruzak" give out a clear bias towards America. Such huge handles are more common on overseas cars. The accent, by the way, is not very successful, and it is visible in the front seats. It is indisputable that the quality of the leather with which these chairs are upholstered does not cause any complaints. But, excuse me, why make the seats so amorphous? Is it really difficult to create at least the appearance of lateral support, which is oh so necessary when driving through gullies. And the "two hundred" ride on them, as it turned out, knows how. And no worse than its "parent", which, as you know, despite all the external glamor, was and remains a capable SUV. But we ran ahead of the locomotive, we will return to the salon again.

The main difference is that the interior has become more spacious. However, this improvement can be more appreciated by passengers sitting in the middle seat. Yes, it is on average, because from now on all Land Cruiser 200s are equipped with three rows of seats. The second row seats are divided in a ratio of 40:20:40. All three chairs can be moved back or forward. In addition, the backrests of the middle row are adjustable in angle.

The Land Cruiser 200 has a greyhound panel! Healthy, for real men. next to the automatic transmission lever is an empty area. In more expensive trim levels, it houses the system controls: Crawl Control, which allows you to maintain a constant speed when overcoming off-road; Multiterrain, which helps to achieve the most effective braking in all conditions; US and DAC to help you get down and up the mountain safely. The monumental dashboard of the Land Cruiser 100 in gray tones seems gloomy against the background of the cheerful panel of the “two hundred”.

Two folding rear seats can easily accommodate two adult passengers.

The back row, which is the third, is a full-fledged sofa for two adults. True, the trunk in the case of a three-row seating arrangement will be like ... well, for example, the Niva, or maybe even less. But if the seats are folded down, then almost a cubic meter of cargo will fit in the trunk.

The seats of the middle row of the Land Cruiser 200 are comparable in comfort to the rear sofa of a business class sedan: there is plenty of space, the tunnel on the floor is invisible, it is possible to move the seat back and forth and adjust the backrest. The rear seats at the "weave" provide a high level of comfort. They are soft, wide, legroom is sufficient. But all the same, sitting in the same place in the "two hundred" is more pleasant.

In general, the choice is small: either a minibus or a truck. And in both roles, the “dvuhsotka” can perform successfully: 9 people or 800 kg of cargo are far from every all-terrain vehicle.

Off-road habits

The transmission of the new "Kruzak" does not carry revolutionary solutions. It also has permanent all-wheel drive. However, the center differential is different. If on the “weave” it was free, then in the “two hundred” it is self-locking: when the wheels of one of the axles slip, the differential (there is a Torsen differential) is blocked. The disadvantage of this differential is that it is blocked only when slipping. Therefore, it also provides for forced blocking.

All this is good. But the transmission control was different. The lever that controls the transfer case is a thing of the past. Now, to turn on the lower row, you need to stop (however, this also had to be done on the “hundredths”), move the “automatic” lever to neutral, then turn the knob on the instrument panel to the right of the steering column. And wait! The lowered one will turn on in about 3-4 seconds. Everything would be fine, but waiting for the gear to turn on while the car starts to get bogged down in the swamp is still unpleasant. Fortunately, the majority of the owners of such cars do not even know the way to the swamps, not to mention driving there.

In a rut, the "hundred" may have more chances than the "dvuhsotka", due to a greater clearance of 20 mm

At the "weaving" the lower one is turned on by a lever. Fast, reliable!

The center lock for both cars is activated in the same way - with a button located to the right of the steering column. And on both machines, the differential locks equally quickly.

It's easy to compare the Land Cruiser 100 and Land Cruiser 200 off-road. It is difficult to identify the best of them. By and large, the off-road capabilities of both cars are the same. Differences in nuance. Due to the longer rear overhang, the “two hundred” earlier begins to cling to the ground with the stern when moving over bumps. But the “two hundred” has more suspension travel, so it resists diagonal hanging longer.

Theoretically, the Land Cruiser 100 may have an advantage on marshy ground due to almost three centners less weight. Yes, and in a rut, the "hundredth" may have more chances due to a 20 mm greater clearance.

However, these differences do not distinguish any of the machines for the better.

On smooth asphalt

The chassis of the Land Cruiser 200 has changed little compared to its predecessor. I mean, constructively: the same rigid rear axle and the same independent front axle. The differences are that the “hundredth” had a torsion bar, and the Land Cruiser 200 had a spring one. Despite the dimensions of the mastodon, both cars are agile and steer well. But in the new model, the suspension is more collected, so there is less roll when cornering, and reactions to steering actions are clearer.

Both cars are equipped with five-speed "automatic". But the “two hundred” has a manual gearshift mode, which the Land Cruiser 100 does not have.

The dynamics of cars did not begin to be compared due to the obvious inequality of the power plants of the warring parties. The Cruiser 100 has a 4.7-liter V-shaped “eight” under the hood, and a 4-liter V-shaped “six” under the hood of the “two hundred”. Naturally, a more powerful and lighter “weave” on the track will put the Land Cruiser 200 on both blades.

Despite the fact that the suspension on the Land Cruiser 200 is structurally similar to the “hundred” suspension, its moves are noticeably larger. Under equal conditions, the rear wheel of the Land Cruiser 100 takes off from the ground earlier than the wheel of the "200" does.

Who will win

In terms of their qualities, the cars are approximately equal. Still, the new SUV has some advantages. For the most part, they relate to behavior on asphalt, rather than off-road, where there is clear parity. On public roads, the novelty has a more distinct driving performance. She has better insulation, a more comfortable interior.

And the very fact that this is a new model that has been produced for only three years is worth a lot.

Model history

Legend has it that the history of the Toyota Land Cruiser began in 1941. During the Second World War, the Japanese army got one of the first army jeeps Bantam MK II as a trophy. The military commanders liked the car, who gave Toyota the task of developing a similar car. Toyota coped with the task and made a prototype. However, it did not enter mass production. Moreover, not a single photograph has been preserved that would confirm the existence of this all-terrain vehicle.

But the experience gained in the development of an army SUV was not in vain, it came in handy 9 years later - in 1950. Then the Americans ordered 100 SUVs for their army, which were planned to be used in the Korean War.

The first such car, called the Toyota Jeep BJ, was released in January 1951. It was equipped with a 3.4 liter petrol engine with 82 hp. It was the world's first all-wheel drive car with a six-cylinder engine. Prior to this, these machines were equipped with four-cylinder engines.

In the summer of that year, one of the Toyota factory testers was able to drive a car to the top of Mount Fuji, after which the national police department ordered 289 of these SUVs.

But mass production of Toyota Jeep BJ began only at the beginning of 1953. And already in 1954, the car was called the Land Cruiser.

In 1955, the second generation of the SUV appeared, which was called the Toyota Land Cruiser BJ20. The car received a modified body, as well as a new 3.9-liter engine with 125 hp.

This generation was produced until 1960, when it was replaced by the Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40. The engine of the third generation car remained the same, but at the same time the transmission received a lowering row. This version of the SUV was produced until 1984.

In parallel with the Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40, other Land Cruiser models were in production. So, in 1967, the Toyota Land Cruiser BJ50 appeared, the production of which continued until 1980, when it was replaced by the Toyota Land Cruiser 60.

When production of the Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 was discontinued in 1984, the popular 70th Land Cruiser series came to replace us. In some countries, the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 was sold as the Land Cruiser II or Land Cruiser Light, which later became known as the Land Cruiser Prado. This series is still in production.

In October 1989, the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser 80 appeared. In March 1998, the production of the Toyota Land Cruiser 80 was discontinued, and it was replaced by the Toyota Land Cruiser 100. This is the first Toyota SUV to receive an eight-cylinder engine.

Well, our today's hero - Toyota Land Cruiser 200 - appeared in the fall of 2007.

Technique from the inside

Structurally, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 transmission is not much different from its predecessor. All-wheel drive is left constant. But if on the “weave” the center differential was free and distributed the torque between the axles equally, then the TLC 200 has a Torsen self-locking differential with a torque distribution between the axles with a ratio of 40/60 in favor of the rear wheels.

Mechanical gearboxes, as well as the transfer case, have practically not changed. But the "automatic machines" on the "dvuhsotka" got the ability to manually switch.

Three engines are offered for the TLC 200: 4 and 4.7 liter petrol and 4.5 liter diesel. The four-liter engine is a six-cylinder V-shaped, and the other two are V-shaped "eights".

The largest motor is aggregated only with a five-speed "automatic", and the other two can be with both "mechanics" and automatic transmission. For the American market, another engine is offered - a V-shaped "eight" with a volume of 5.7 liters. A similar engine is also installed on the Lexus LX570.

Toyota Land Cruiser 100 was also equipped with three engines: a 4.2-liter diesel engine and 4.5 and 4.7-liter gasoline engines. The diesel engine had three modifications: atmospheric and turbocharged with one or two turbines. The 4.5-liter gasoline in-line "six" was both injection and carburetor - such cars were supplied to some third world countries.

The flagship modification of the “weave”, bearing the designation VX, was equipped with a V-shaped “eight” with a volume of 4.7 liters. This engine was equipped exclusively with a five-speed "automatic". According to the manufacturer's regulations, the owner of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 must visit a service center every 10 thousand kilometers for maintenance.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 has a key fob that is connected to the car access system as a key. This system allows you to open the car door and start the engine without taking the key out of your pocket. At the end of the key fob sits a metal sting of a regular key, which will help unlock the car in the event of a discharge of the battery or batteries in the key fob itself.

The handles on the new "Kruzak" give out a clear emphasis on America. Turned the handle on the instrument panel and wait until after 3-4 seconds a downshift is engaged. And the car at this time is slowly but inevitably sinking into the swamp. Therefore, not knowing the ford ... it is better not to go into the mud.

Special version

After the release of the usual “two hundred”, the presentation of the Land Cruiser 200 GX took place, a special version, the purpose of which is off-road driving. If you remember, the Land Cruiser 100 also had a GX modification. In fact, it could be called an independent model, since it was aggregated with other engines, and the running gear was different - in front of such a “weave” there was a continuous bridge.

The new off-road Toyota, alas, does not have a solid front axle. But in the basic configuration, the Land Cruiser 200 GX has an electric winch. Other features of the model include reinforced suspension, designed for long-term operation on bad roads and beyond.

Due to the longer rear overhang, the “two hundred” earlier begins to cling to the ground with the stern when moving over bumps

For the Land Cruiser 200 GX, there are two engines to choose from: a 4-liter V-shaped petrol “six” with a capacity of 243 hp. and a V-shaped turbodiesel "eight" with a volume of 4.5 liters, in which 220 hp is hidden.

The petrol engine will be aggregated with both "mechanics" and "automatic", and the diesel engine will be sold only with a manual transmission. That's just one thing is not clear: why does the modification, which is supposedly designed for off-road driving, even in the list of proposed options not have cross-wheel locks? And why are systems that can really help off-road equipped with the most luxurious version, which is designed more for the entrance to the front entrance, and not for a trip to the swamp?

Owner reviews

Comfort, comfort, and more comfort. I changed my shoes to standard tires and gave myself the freedom to drive a little - it’s just breathtaking, in sports mode it instantly picks up and, like a ship on the waves, comfortably and confidently at a speed of 180-190 km / h.

Starting overtaking at a speed of 70-90 km / h, you finish it at 150-160 km / h and, looking at the speedometer, it becomes scary at such speeds on a snowy road, although without looking at the speedometer, the feeling of comfort and confidence does not leave for a second. There is snow porridge on the road, a comfortable speed of 100-130 km / h - I try not to go faster.

Heated windshield in the wilds of the monitor, it would be more convenient to bring to a separate button. A few more cons: there is not enough 2-3 centimeters of steering wheel adjustment for reach, I am 188 cm tall, and there is no illumination of the interior lighting buttons.

I washed the car, so the paintwork is just g ... o - a big disappointment: scratches are not just up to the varnish, but up to the primer, especially noticeable on black. Another navigation system, it's just w .... but - a dangerous thing, it can get lost in the settings.

Video review

The suspension rattled on the first 200 km! After that, the official dealer’s “guessing” began, maybe not her, let’s change the steering column, let’s change the rack, and then — let’s remove the entire console, maybe there’s something knocking! Toyota reliability in the past.

The parking sensors are “blind”, they are unsuccessfully located and they see obstacles when they run into a low-growing Christmas tree in my area. Plastic - hug and cry.

Ales Tyshkevich, drives Toyota Land Cruiser 4.5d (249 HP) AT 2016

Toyota Land Cruiser 200 irons out bumps perfectly at a decent speed, and as a result, by 30 thousand, something constantly dangles behind: either the rear seats, or the spare wheel. OD said that this is how it should be (this is for 4 lyama then!).

They probably paint them with gouache, immediately made additional processing of the body with silicon for 60,000 r, but to no avail. The body is all scratched (I don’t go through the forests). As an example: I live in a private house and often wash my cars myself.

If on the ML W164 of the wife it is enough to knock off the dirt, apply foam and wash it off, then the diesel locomotive must also be rubbed with a brush over the foam - it is not washed off. The same ambush was with Qashqai at one time. The Japanese somehow paint in their own way, not very well.

Nikolai Serbin, review of Toyota Land Cruiser 4.5d (235 hp) on the machine in 2014

The Land Cruiser 200 is a solid car, you feel protected, good visibility, frame. The chassis swallows all the bumps in the road before you get to the "washer". Road qualities are lost along with the asphalt. The myth of patency immediately disappears. Too much for the city, but not enough for the village. It starts slowly, 9 seconds, but it hums like a steam locomotive. Lots of noise, little sense.

In general, I expected more. The seat is half leather, the rest is leatherette. For such money, a modest interior trim, no curtains. Creaks began after a month of operation, starting from the seats and ending with the back cover.

The body is poorly treated with an anti-gravel compound: the paint (lacquer) is easily scratched. After 4-6 washes, it needs to be polished (color is black, all scratches are visible).

Unfinished electronics (speakers like radio, not enough bass, no hard drive and cards fail), no door closers. With fuel in general "misunderstanding". According to the characteristics of 8-12! Consumption in the summer of 13-16, and in winter it reached 20 liters.

The back cover, even from light rain, is constantly dirty. If you hit the “washer” (popularly a washboard) on the road, the car becomes uncontrollable. The steering wheel is a little uncomfortable and slippery. There are no tire pressure sensors.

Mikhail Ponic, drives Toyota Land Cruiser 4.5d (235 hp) AT 2013

Toyota LK 200 does not tolerate fussiness - only a measured ride, unless you are a stuntman of course. On ice, I immediately remembered the “cow on ice”, the car went into a skid and got out of it very reluctantly.

After that I tried to turn off the anti-skid system and drift in a deserted place and realized that my skills were clearly not enough - the car became simply uncontrollable.

I can’t help but note that if you take pits, curbs and other bumps at speed, then the charm of the LK 200 quickly disappears - comfort noticeably decreases. The car is shod with 20 inch wheels, and all the blows are transferred to the ass quite noticeably.

Still, I am satisfied with the acquisition, although spending spoils the blood, I experienced the pleasure of driving right now. I also asked myself the question - which car is next and has not yet found an answer, the LK200 is probably the best from serial cars.

Among the shortcomings: lack of finishes, the need to tune the car, expensive MOT. Minor flaws in ergonomics, such as the design of the buttons for heating the front seats, and the rear ones - the daughter constantly turns it on, dangling her legs. The rear view camera needs to be washed immediately after reaching a speed of 80 km/h and the side cameras after half an hour of driving on a wet road.

The owner drives a 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser 4.5 diesel (235 HP) AT

I can’t fully describe the car yet, there is enough traction and power. I used Cruiser 100 about 5 years ago, so I don’t remember how everything was there. The suspension on the 200th does not shake the car. Consumption in the city is slightly less than that of the Ford Expedition. Ford had a tank of 105 liters, 200 - 93 + 45.

The additional tank is located above the spare tire, because of this the spare tire itself hangs a little even lower than the rear axle itself. The box is the good old automatic A750, which was placed on hundreds and LX470.

Due to the absence of any "choking" moment systems on the roads, the car rows well. Again, everything is subjective. The rear cross-axle differential is connected only with a lowering.

LED headlights are a thing, but for Kruzaks, all headlights shine perfectly, even on old halogens. I bent the left threshold, the right one is also deeply scratched, they are only on order at the dealer, apparently only I wildebeest thresholds. The plans: prebretenie steel discs and seal the windshield with armored film.

Review of Toyota Land Cruiser 4.0 (271 hp) with a 2016 automatic

Large, reliable car. More suitable for long trips and off-road driving. It will easily deliver from point A to point B, while you don’t have to strain about the road.

I also note a good consumption for such a car - only 11-14 liters. Mileage 25 thousand — not an indicator for Toyota, but there were no problems! Comfort on long trips, off the track there are no competitors.

Of the minuses, I note a weak paintwork, compared with the Germans. The camera is just terrible, I can’t even believe that the Japanese have found such rubbish somewhere ... The front camera generally sucks!

There are no parking sensors in front of the bumper, only on the sides. Heavy steering, but you get used to it quickly, for a girl — not an option. Short seats, an additional pull-out section could be made. The quality of materials is noticeably weaker after the premium "German".

I look at our heroes, and Vasnetsov's "Three Heroes" stand before my eyes. The focus, of course, is Ilya Muromets, our most revered hero, the Land Cruiser 200. In terms of sales, this mighty off-road vehicle is many times ahead of its competitors throughout its career, and after a recent restyling, it has every chance to maintain its leadership.

Will Dobrynya Nikitich be able to defeat him, that is, a fresh Chevrolet Tahoe? Behind him, too, are many feats and legends, and the fathom in his shoulders is no less oblique. In its last generation, it has become even larger, more powerful and, which is extremely important in these times, has an attractive price.

And on the other hand - Alyosha Popovich, aka Ford Explorer Sport. Not so thick-set, but in military affairs he was bold and daring. He is shorter in sprout, but in length-width he is not inferior to other heroes. Why is the engine not a V8? So his "turbo-six" gives out as many as 345 "horses" - more than that of Ilya Lendkruzerovich!

Drill Review

Toyota Land Cruiser 200

The current generation of the Japanese bestseller debuted in 2007. In 2013, the car was refreshed, and last fall it was seriously upgraded: the design has changed, the technical stuffing has been updated.

Engines:

  • petrol 4.6 (309 hp) - from 2,999,000 rubles.
  • diesel 4.5 (249 hp) - from 2,999,000 rubles.
The interior of the "two hundred" has changed during the modernization. But - an amazing thing! - you can not say that it looks more modern than before. The laconic style remained with him, and even after traveling for a week, I cannot remember the interior in detail. Perhaps the most noticeable detail is the large nine-inch high-definition screen. Other signs of the times include a platform for induction charging of a smartphone, a traffic sign recognition system, adaptive cruise control, and a driver fatigue information system.

The salon is dressed in more expensive materials, and semi-aniline leather gives it a special nobility - this grade is used on Lexus cars. It’s a pity that the handles of the front doors remained the same miniature - you can’t take them with a heroic palm. It was a sin to complain about visibility before (thin roof pillars, large mirrors, a large glass area), and now all-round cameras have appeared.

Chevrolet Tahoe

The world premiere took place in 2013, but the American hero reached Russia only a year later. In America, a long-wheelbase version of the Suburban is also sold.

Engine:

  • petrol 6.2 (409 hp) - from 2,990,000 rubles
The Tahoe's interior is amazing. All-wheel drive Chevrolet has never had such a bright, lush, elegant interior. Instruments with a quartet of secondary scales above the speedometer and tachometer look especially interesting. The color combination is also well chosen: brown leather, dark chocolate plastic, wood. Tahoe is the coziest place! Although the build quality is not ideal: the gaps between the parts are too big, some elements of the interior play ...

Americanisms? Where without them! Here is the electric adjustment of the pedal assembly (a useful thing). But the old-mode poker of the machine instead of the floor selector we are used to, - because of it, the left steering column lever turned out to be overloaded with functions. For several days, I did not have time to remember what was what. Visibility deserves criticism. A small car can easily hide behind wide pillars, there is only one rear-view camera, and I would like larger exterior mirrors.

Ford Explorer

The latest generation Explorer, which debuted in 2011, got rid of the frame and demultiplier and, sadly, moved into the category of crossovers. At the end of last year, a restyled version entered the market.

Engines:

  • petrol: 3.5 (249 hp) - from 2,799,000 rubles, 3.5 turbo (345 hp) - from 3,399,000 rubles.
Unlike rivals, you don’t climb into the Explorer’s cabin, but sit down - the lower body height affects. Landing behind the wheel is light, not vertical commander. But inside the Ford is more modest: a simple finish and a gloomy black coloring do not add optimism. Even carbon-look overlays and red stitching on the seats and steering wheel are unable to amuse this dark kingdom. But there are no questions about ergonomics.

The second row of Tahoe surprised. Instead of a solid sofa, it has two separate chairs, as in an executive class sedan.

In terms of space, Tahoe cannot compete with long sedans, but the level of equipment is good: individual armrests, seat heating, its own microclimate control unit, two sockets (12 and 230 V) and even a multimedia system with a ceiling screen. There is also a third row. The passage to it is not difficult, but the "luggage" places are crowded, you have to sit almost on the floor.

Whether the case is the third row of Ford! Here, the human landing and the supply of space are noticeably larger. At least, with a height of 181 cm, I settled down normally.

But Ford is lower than Chevrolet! Miracles ... The second row is no cramped than the Tahoe, but the absence of a center armrest and ceiling handles in a car of this price category is puzzling.

We got the Land Cruiser 200 in a five-seater version. And if you really go as a passenger, then in Toyota! This is the most comfortable place: the sofa is perfectly profiled, and the middle seat is the most comfortable in my memory. Still more space for the feet, and it would be quite a buzz. The sofa moves back and forth, and the backrests are adjustable in angle. And only on the Kruzak is a four-zone climate control installed. There are countless deflectors: it blows in the knees, from the ceiling, from the door pillar. No chance to freeze! The fastidious will complain only that there is no 230 V socket - there is only a 12-volt one.

On the battlefield

Even the old Tahoe struck with its huge “heart” (5.3 V8), but in a new generation car, the working volume of the “eight” is completely shocking - 6.2 liters! Torque is epic - 623 Nm. But the return is only 409 hp. With this amount, you can take much more.

I translate the steering column poker into D mode - on horses! But the script immediately had to be adjusted: the gas pedal is excessively damped and in order to move the Tahoe from its place, you have to press it heartily. And he squeezed a little - a sharp jump forward. Inconvenient, especially in a tight parking lot. But if you have operational space in front of you, Chevrolet is carried forward by an artillery shell, announcing the surroundings with a low-frequency cannonade. Bliss! That's just with active acceleration, the machine sometimes switches with a fair amount of jerks, and the fuel gauge falls before our eyes. The average consumption was 25 l / 100 km.

Under the hood of Toyota, a more modest 4.6 V8 engine is working, which produces only 309 hp. And since the Land Cruiser 200 is half a centner heavier than the Tahoe, it's no surprise that it doesn't accelerate as quickly - goosebumps no longer run. Nevertheless, these cars received the same marks for accelerating dynamics, since it is much more convenient to control Toyota's acceleration: the machine is set up more logically and intelligently, there is no need to adjust to the accelerator.

And most of all on the straights I liked the Explorer Sport. The thrust of the "turbo-six" is enough in any situation, the machine works perfectly, plus the smallest mass - with a parallel start, the Ford easily leaves its rivals. I have no doubt about the declared 6.4 seconds of acceleration to hundreds. At the same time, the “blue oval” is the least voracious (17 l / 100 km), and it can be filled with “ninety-second” gasoline. And in terms of handling Explorer Sport is good. Willingly dives into turns and stands firmly on the arc, the steering wheel is not devoid of feedback. It is immediately clear that asphalt is Ford's native element. But off-road, he did not perform so confidently, as Maxim Gomyanin separately narrates.

In turns, the LC200 is not so quick. But not hopeless! Yes, the steering wheel is empty, and the rolls are deep, but the Kruzak holds the trajectory in a stranglehold and, after a series of S-shaped ligaments, is not far behind Ford.

Tahoe looms somewhere in the rear-view mirrors. He generally hates fast maneuvering: reactions to steering turns are inhibited, a huge body sways up and down. And the smoothness of the ride is far from ideal: Chevrolet kicks at cracked joints and shudders sharply on larger bumps. Stately ride? Only on perfect asphalt!

In Russia, in order to be considered successful, you must travel either in a business class sedan, preferably German-made, or in an SUV. One of these is the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, which relatively recently received a restyling and a new appearance that is still unusual for our country. The Japanese SUV is loved both by officials and entrepreneurs living in megacities for its comfort, and by successful rural farmers for its cross-country ability and reliability. A more financially independent public prefers the Lexus LX570, which has also been restyled relatively recently. For those who do not understand the automotive industry, we will inform you that both cars have a lot in common and this is not surprising, because. Lexus is owned by Toyota and is a more expensive brand originally created to sell cars in the US market. In today's article, we will try to find out what are the main technical differences between the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and the Lexus LX 570, compare their prices, and also try to understand whether it is worth overpaying for a more expensive brand.

Exterior design comparison

Although these two SUVs have much in common, are built on the same platform, have similar proportions and body shape, there are still a lot of differences between them, which we propose to talk about.

Let's say right away that we personally like the look of the Lexus SUV better due to the beautifully shaped modern optics and the massive hourglass-shaped radiator grille. All this gives the car a more austere look, perhaps this was also influenced by the black color of the body. The LK 200 began to look, how would it be correct to say - in American it is neither good nor bad, but the pre-styling version of the 200th, in our opinion, looked more “serious” due to massive optics. One of the inexplicable facts about Toyota cars is the design, which initially causes a lot of controversy and even exposes some to some kind of shock, and then, as time passes, it attracts to itself. One of these cars is the Camry, and perhaps the same effect will be with the restyled version of the 2016 Land Cruiser 200 model year. Remarkably, both cars received a new stamped hood, we immediately wondered if this hood could be moved from one car to another, but as it turned out, in Lexus it differs on the sides from the Tayota hood.

Special mention deserves the optics of cars. Toyota headlights are simpler and have a lens, while Lexus headlights have more modern technology (matrix LED headlights). Such headlights better illuminate the road and have many systems useful for safety, the only drawback is their cost, which is equal to the price of a new Lada car in a not the cheapest configuration.

As you can see from the photos above, the premium SUV has larger alloy wheels, more chrome trim and more interesting taillights. Of the differences on the side, one can single out the rear side windows, or rather the racks. On the Kruzak, they have simple, straight lines, while on the 570, they have a boomerang shape and chrome trim.

Differences in interior design

Only when you get into the salon do you realize that despite the fact that both cars are built on the same platform, they have a different purpose, which corresponds to the design and materials used.

Salon Toyota Land Cruiser 200

Salon Lexus LH570

The interior of the Kruzak is more utilitarian, while at the five hundred and seventieth it is just full of luxury, which corresponds to a large amount of genuine leather, natural wood and aluminum inserts. The monitor in the Lexus deserves special attention, which looks very organic, in contrast to the German models, in which the location of the monitor thus looks like something foreign. In addition to the design itself and the materials used, the differences lie in the functionality. The premium SUV has heated all seats, memory, electric steering column adjustment, electric third-row seats and a tailgate, along with this, the SUV is equipped with a high-end Mark Levinson audio system, a widescreen 12.0-inch screen, and satellite navigation with traffic updates. What's more, the LX570 has a richer set of security systems at its disposal, which include cameras around the circle, a blind spot monitoring system, a forward collision warning, an automatic braking system, etc.

Available range of engines

An SUV from Toyota on the Russian market is available with two engines;

  • diesel 4.5 liters with a capacity of 249 hp;
  • gasoline 4.6 liters with a capacity of 309 hp

A 6-speed automatic transmission is offered as a transmission.

The Lexus SUV is also available with two engines, but with more power:

  • diesel 4.5 liters with a capacity of 272 hp;
  • gasoline 5.7 liters with a capacity of 367 hp

If the diesel engine is paired with the same 6-speed automatic transmission as in Toyota, then the gasoline engine is aggregated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is more modern and faster.

Price comparison

At the moment, the 200th in Russia is available in five different trim levels, as well as in five and seven-seater versions. The price varies between 2,999,000 - 5,176,000 rubles. While the LX570 is also offered in five trim levels, but either in five or eight-seater versions. The price of the car varies from 4,999,000 to 6,417,000 rubles.

Outcome

With all the similarities, as practice has shown, cars have a lot of differences. The most important is the price, the cost of maintenance and ownership. With diesel engines completely similar in design, Toyota has hp. do not go beyond the threshold of 250 forces, which will allow the owner to save on tax, and if desired, he can increase the power by contacting an authorized dealer or third-party specialists. It is clear that the Lexus offers more comfort and a sense of luxury, but to be honest, we did not feel any significant difference while driving. Dynamics can also be included in the list of differences, 570 is more cheerful due to the greater power and more nimble transmission. The diesel version is gaining 0 - 100 km / h. in 8.6 seconds, petrol in 7.7, while the 200th accelerates on heavy fuel in 9.2 seconds, and on gasoline in 8.6 seconds. If you have an extra 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 rubles, you can buy a Lexus, you should also remember about the high tax and the cost of insurance, so it would be more rational to purchase a diesel engine
