Hyundai Solaris) is a subcompact car of the South Korean company Hyundai Motors, which is an adapted version of the car for operation in Russia. Appearing on the Russian market, Hyundai Solaris made a splash, more than six years have passed since the car's debut, and the demand for it not only does not fade away, but, on the contrary, its popularity index is growing rapidly. And, here, how justified the purchase of a used Hyundai Solaris will be, and what problems will have to be faced during the operation of this car, now we will talk about this.

A bit of history:

Hyundai Solaris was presented in September 2010, and already in January of the following year, the car went on sale. Initially, the car was produced only in a sedan body, but already in June 2011 the model range was replenished with a hatchback body. This model is a continuation of the "Accent" family, or rather, its fourth generation. The car is built on the same platform with, and, from a technical point of view, practically do not differ from its co-platform. Hyundai Solaris is assembled at a full-cycle plant near St. Petersburg. Many car enthusiasts believe that this model was developed specifically for the Russian market, but this is not the case. For Russia, by and large, only the name "Hyundai Solaris" was developed and minor technical changes were made taking into account operating conditions, in other countries the same car is known as Hyundai Accent, Verna and i25.

Weaknesses and disadvantages of Hyundai Solaris with mileage

The paintwork is quite thin, as a result, scratches and chips quickly cover the car body, but thanks to the good galvanizing of the metal (except for the roof), there are no serious problems with corrosion. Despite this, on some specimens, after winter, foci of corrosion appear - on the roof, fenders and hood. Also, after winter, the coating from chrome elements and paint on the door handles unexpectedly begins to peel off. Many owners blame the small thickness of the metal of most body elements, because of this, dents appear on them even from minor contact with a pebble that has flown off from under the wheels of a car driving next to it. Standard bumper mounts are not famous for their reliability either; it often sags under the influence of its weight. Many owners solve the problem by installing the bumper with self-tapping screws. Also, due to poor-quality fastening, fog lights fall off over time. When tightening the wheel bolts, you need to be very careful, since the thread on the wheel studs is very weak and it is not difficult to rip it off.

Engines

Hyundai Solaris is equipped with only petrol power units - 1.4 (107 HP) and 1.6 (123 HP). In terms of reliability, there are no special complaints about any of the engines, they are reliable and, if properly operated, can serve 250-300 thousand km without expensive repairs. Of the minor shortcomings, many owners note the difficult start of a cold engine. Sometimes the owners of Solaris blame the chirping of the engine at idle, but you will have to put up with this drawback, since this is a feature of the fuel injectors. If, with an increase in engine speed to 3000, increased knocking is felt, this is the first signal that it is necessary to rewrite the engine control unit.

When operating a car in a metropolis, in the summer, the engine may overheat when driving in a traffic jam. There are several reasons for this phenomenon: the main cause of the disease is a clogged cooling radiator (cleaning is required). Often, overheating occurs due to the fan impeller that has flown off the seat (the impeller fastening nut spontaneously unscrews). This problem is insidious in that initially it does not manifest itself in any way, and the only way to diagnose an ailment is by shaking the impeller (if there is a problem, there will be a backlash). It is necessary to monitor the state of the cooling system very carefully, since overheating of the motor in 70% of cases leads to expensive repairs of the power unit.

The timing system is equipped with a metal chain, which is designed for the entire service lines of the engine, however, in some instances it stretches after 100,000 km (the main reasons are untimely maintenance, oil starvation, the use of low-quality lubricants). Signals about the need to replace the chain are: traction dips during acceleration, diesel rumble and increased noise when starting a cold engine. The life of the attachment belt is 80-100 thousand km, but its tensioner may require replacement after 40,000 km. Due to the lack of hydraulic valve clearance compensators, it is necessary to set the clearances between the cam and the pusher every 100,000 km. In most cases, owners ignore this procedure, and this can negatively affect the resource. If you fill the car with low-quality fuel, the throttle valve will have to be flushed every 30-40 thousand km, and on 1.4-liter engines, premature wear of the converter is possible.

Transmission

One of two gearboxes can be installed on the Hyundai Solaris - a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Both boxes are reliable enough, but not sinless. So, for example, the owners note the indistinct inclusion of the second and third gears, and with an increase in mileage, the problem will only get worse. Replacement of the synchroniser sleeve and the third gear locking ring is required. If, during movement, an extraneous noise is heard from the box (grinding, shuffling), most likely, the reason is in the bearing of the input shaft (the bearing race in the box housing rotates). To fix the problem, you will need to replace the box housing cover and the bearing; in order to temporarily fix it, you can put the bearing on a sealant.

Some owners note a slight crunch when turning on the third gear - the plastic synchronizer breaks. If, when driving in reverse gear, a hum appears, then it's time to replace the casing and clutch disc. The clutch mechanism, with careful operation, nurses about 130,000 km. The automatic transmission has a service life of up to 250,000 km, but is famous for jerking when changing gears. This disadvantage is caused by sticking box valves. Due to the weak lock of the automatic transmission selector, spontaneous switching of the transmission from the " D" v " 3 », Often, when a problem appears, dealers recommend replacing the selector assembly, but you can solve the problem by bore a hole for the retainer rod.

Problem spots undercarriage Hyundai Solaris

The car is equipped with a semi-independent suspension: in the front - MacPherson strut, in the rear - a semi-independent beam. The suspension is stiff enough and does not have a high level of comfort, but there are positive aspects to this. Due to the increased elasticity of the chassis, the car holds on to the road well (at speeds up to 130 km / h) and has good controllability. As for the reliability of the chassis, there are no special complaints about it, but it has a couple of shortcomings. One of the weak points of the suspension is the wheel bearings, there are often cases when the front bearings began to buzz after 15,000 km, and the rear ones after 30,000 km (in some cases, to fix the problem, it is enough to tighten the nuts). The struts and stabilizer bushings live about the same. The rest of the suspension elements, under medium loads, live up to 100-150 thousand km.

One of the significant drawbacks of the steering is the small resource of the rail (it can knock after 20,000 km), many managed to change the rail under warranty, but the problem recurred again. In 2012, the manufacturer released a special repair kit. The reason for the knocks- a large gap in the stop and stop of the steering rack and premature wear of the plastic bushings (in 2013 the manufacturer modified the unit and the problem began to occur less frequently). Also, the shortcomings of the power steering pump can be attributed to the disadvantages of the steering. One of the reasons for the noise in the suspension is the play of the guide calipers; you can solve the problem by filling them with grease. Otherwise, there are no complaints about the brake system. Brake pads last 40-60 thousand km, discs - twice as long.

Salon

Like most budget cars, the Hyundai Solaris interior is made of cheap materials, because of this, over time, the interior is filled with a large number of crickets and other extraneous sounds. Most often, squeaks come from plastic elements and door seals, and extraneous sounds can also be emitted by the exhaust valve of the ventilation system, which is installed on the cabin filter cover. If the steering wheel vibrates, try tightening the airbag mounting bolts, in most cases this will solve the problem.

Over time, the front seats begin to creak; in order to cure the ailment, it is necessary to lubricate the skids and their locking loop. As for the reliability of electrical equipment, here the owners most often blame the noise of the stove motor, when contacting the service, the dealer suggests replacing the motor, but, in most cases, it is enough to lubricate the bushing. If the direction indicators began to work incorrectly, most likely the problem is in the stuck alarm button (button replacement is required). There are also complaints about the head unit - it periodically resets the settings and saved radio stations.

Outcome:

Despite the fact that Hyundai Solaris has minor flaws, the car has established itself as a reliable and unpretentious means of transportation.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you had to face during the operation of the car. Perhaps it is your feedback that will help the readers of our site when choosing a car.

Best regards, editors AutoAvenu

It has become increasingly difficult to acquire a new foreign car lately, even if the "wheels" are badly needed. Cars are getting more expensive, but wages are not growing. This effect is especially noticeable in the segment of budget cars, where the buyer is forced to count every penny. Even when it comes to buying a car on credit. However, today there are proposals on the market that allow even a very poor family to buy a new car from. Almost all car manufacturers as a prerequisite for such a transaction are asked to contribute part of the cost of the selected vehicle. As a rule, we are talking about 20-30 percent of the cost in the form of a down payment. The average price tag for a budget foreign car is now somewhere in the region of 600,000 rubles and the potential owner of such a car has to find more than impressive amounts for his budget. And the auto industry seems to be mocking: despite all the "tears in the economy" of Russia, there are new models. The second generation Hyundai Solaris that has recently appeared in dealerships is a striking example of this.

Outwardly, the new Solaris has become both elegant and more aggressive, primarily thanks to the emphatically massive hexagonal radiator grille, tightened bumpers and an elegant LED strip of daytime running lights. The fashionable arrow-shaped taillights give the car a certain amount of expression. Add alloy wheels to this "bouquet" and admire a solid car that is not budget-friendly. Which, by the way, became 30 mm longer and wider than the predecessor model. In the cabin of the "Korean" only relatively hard plastic reminds of belonging to the segment of inexpensive cars. Soft inserts appeared in the door trim, the center console turned towards the driver, like in a BMW. It now boasts a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia display with attractive graphics and crisp responses to commands.

Note also that we have worked very seriously on modernizing the rear suspension of the model. The power steering has been replaced by an electric power steering. Both the manual and the automatic six-speed gearboxes have undergone improvements. For them, in fact, they optimized the motors installed on Solaris - 1.4-liter 100-horsepower and 1.6-liter 123-horsepower gasoline units. Great car. And what is especially pleasant, it was in the case of her that the dream of entering a corporate showroom with only one passport in my pocket and leaving its gates in a brand new car, without paying a penny, has been quite realizable for some time now.

This became possible thanks to the unique - without exaggeration - at the moment the program "Hyundai Motor CIS", with the help of which a loan for the purchase of a new Hyundai Solaris can be obtained without any down payment. It is called "START with a zero down payment." In practice, this is as follows. The buyer of the car concludes at the same time in the car dealership two credit agreements with the program partner Cetelem Bank LLC for a period of three years.

The first of them - a car loan under the "Start" program for 80% of the cost of the car, is issued under the state subsidy program at 11.25% per annum. The second is a consumer loan, which covers up to 20% of the remaining value of the car at a rate of 19.9%. What is important, even if the client has a small amount of his own funds, he can buy a car by taking exactly as much as he lacks.

It is worth noting that the client will make monthly payments for these two in one day in one place, which is undoubtedly convenient. At the same time, the client has the opportunity to close the consumer loan ahead of schedule, regardless of the main car loan. It is possible to talk about percentages for a long time, but it will be much clearer to translate them into specific numbers that are most interesting to a potential buyer - into the amount of a monthly payment. For example, consider the case of buying a new Hyundai Solaris in the basic Active configuration with a 1.4-liter 100 hp engine. and a six-speed "mechanics" in the transmission.

The maximum recommended price for such a car is 599,000 rubles. For this money, the potential owner gets 15-inch steel wheels with 185/65 R15 tires, a full-size spare, four speakers and audio preparation, front airbags for the driver and front passenger, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), height-adjustable driver's seat, steering a column and front seat belts, as well as front power windows with illuminated buttons, an ERA-GLONASS emergency call device and a stability control system (VSM), which combines an electronic stability control system (ESC) and traction control system (TCS). The purchase of a new Solaris under the "START with a zero initial payment" program means a monthly payment of 13,913 rubles. At the present time - more than a lifting amount. Note that for the first month after the purchase, the newly made car owner will actually drive the car for free. At the same time, the automaker guarantees that all customers who purchase a new Solaris within the framework of the "START with a zero initial payment" program will also receive a comprehensive insurance free of charge. And age and driving experience have no effect on the terms of the insurance contract, which can be safely considered a rarity in the modern insurance market.

Olga Bondarenko from Moscow, one of the first Hyundai Solaris customers under the “START with a Zero Down Payment” program, said: “The program seemed to me a very convenient option. It so happened that there was no opportunity to save up for a down payment, but the car is needed now. In such a situation, two loans turned out to be a good solution. At the dealership, everything was issued quickly enough. In general, I am satisfied with the purchase. "

Often, car owners find themselves in various unusual situations, which cannot be called anything other than stupid, and they cannot get out of them in a simple way. Either the keys remain in the ignition, or the bag with them is forgotten in the back or passenger seat, but the result is always the same - the car is closed, and it is not possible to open it. But, despite all the hopelessness of the situation, opening Hyundai Solaris without having a key with you is quite realistic and is not particularly difficult.

Causes and consequences

If in such a situation you are “lucky” to be home or at the end point of your trip, then this already simplifies matters, but if the trouble happened somewhere halfway or in a deserted place, then the situation is aggravated. Lacking the skills and knowledge of how to open the Hyundai Solaris without a key, the only true, but at the same time, expensive solution will be to call the master, who will unlock the closed car.

It is important to understand that it is imperative to remain calm and not panic, because the first desire is to break the glass in the door, which, of course, seems to be a way out of the situation, but further costs of replacing it will be significant.

Specialist work

Calling a master of such affairs will take a certain amount of money, but everything will go quickly and without consequences. In almost all cases, the procedure for opening a door by a professional looks like this:

  • A sturdy plastic blade is inserted into the side upper part of the door under the glass-holding frame. In this case, the upper part of the door moves back a few millimeters.
  • A rubber chamber is inserted into the gap, similar to the chamber of a tonometer, into which air is supplied with the help of a pear. Inflating, it additionally pushes the door away, thereby increasing the gap, which reaches about 1 cm.
  • A wire is inserted into the formed gap, with which the door lock snaps off.

All the manipulations performed by an experienced craftsman will allow not only to quickly achieve a positive result, but also to preserve the paintwork of the car, which is important.

Opening the door with improvised means

Calling a specialist, although effective, is not always possible, especially if an annoying misunderstanding occurred on the way outside the village. In addition, the number of cases when the phone remains in the cabin with the keys is great, and without it, of course, calling the emergency service is impossible. A running engine can also add fuel to the fire, slowly but surely getting rid of the fuel in the tank.

The way in which we open the lock without a key and without a battery is simple and quite similar to the manipulations of the masters. For the procedure, a branch with a piece of wire will be enough. Further steps:

  • The upper corner of the door is pushed on, slightly pulled back, after which a piece of a branch is inserted into the gap formed.
  • One end of the wire is crocheted, pushed into the slot and gently hooks on the lock pawl.

Eliminating the trouble will take a few minutes, but in order to avoid scratches, it is recommended to wrap the wire with something, as well as a branch, or put something under them.

Hyundai Solaris without any stretch can be called one of the most popular cars in our country. Such popularity was achieved due to its attractive appearance, spacious interior for its class and reasonable prices. And in a second-hand state, a Korean car is even cheaper, which attracts those motorists who are not ready to overpay for a new car from a car dealership. But what about reliability? And even though Hyundai Solaris, which went on sale in 2011, has been produced not so long ago, but certain information on this model has been collected.

There is no need to worry about rust. The body of the Korean car is galvanized, so that red spots on it will appear only if it has been in a serious accident. Even relatively large chips, and such on the oldest cars can be found quite often, do not bloom. And only the roof can present minor troubles. She was just left without galvanizing. Also, inspect the door handles before buying a car. The paint on the inside will usually peel off. It does not affect the speed, but you can bargain.

Box

The manual transmission installed on Hyundai Solaris is quite reliable. In my solaris, which I rented with the option to purchase, after drawing up a car purchase agreement

At first she scared me, the first and second gears were turned on first with a noticeable effort, but an explanation was found, the car could be said to be new, we only drove 30 thousand km on it, so the owners of used Solaris simply will not notice this, because over time the mechanisms " mechanics "rub in and relieve the owner of a Korean car from the need to use force.

But the extraneous sounds that a manual gearbox can emit when driving should be taken more seriously. It is possible that in order to eliminate them, it will be necessary to change the bearing of the input shaft and the cover of the box housing. Many owners wanted to do this as part of a warranty repair, but at this point the dealer has not acknowledged the problem.

Hyundai Solaris with an automatic transmission can be upset with jolts when shifting gears. And all because of sticky box valves. No other global problems have been noticed yet.

Engine

The engines installed on the Korean car are quite reliable, but they are still not without some features. So many owners noted problems with cold engine start and knock that occurs at medium speeds. Also pay attention to the temperature conditions of the engine. On some Hyundai Solaris, the owners have already managed to overheat the engine. And all because of the flying off impeller of the radiator cooling fan. And the worst thing is that the fly-off impeller does not make itself felt in any way. So do not be lazy to periodically wiggle her and visually assess her condition.

Suspension

Suspension, on the other hand, can be a lot more troublesome. Already after 15 thousand kilometers on a Korean car, the front wheel bearing may begin to buzz. Rear wheel bearings can hold twice as much. The rest of the Hyundai Solaris suspension assemblies are more reliable.

Salon

Take the time to pay attention to the condition of the fog lights. Some owners even changed them under warranty, although most often it all comes down to replacing the mounts, which are corny loosened from frequent driving on bad roads.

Inside Hyundai Solaris looks very stylish, but you can't count on expensive finishing materials. So get ready to live with the "crickets" and occasionally struggle with the creaking interior panels. Well, do not forget to inspect the salon for scuffs before buying. Most often, scratches can be found on the glossy trim on the center console.

And since we have already looked into the salon, do not be too lazy to check the operation of all electrical equipment. Turn on the heater fan. Many owners complain that at first speed it works too noisy, and on some cars the fan has already been completely replaced under warranty. Also check the operation of the radio. She has a habit of spontaneously resetting all settings.

What else?

It is impossible not to mention the steering rack, which on some cars began to knock after several hundred kilometers. And the most surprising thing is that the new rail, which appeared on most cars as part of the warranty repair, began to knock literally after a couple of thousand kilometers. On the face of a constructive miscalculation.

There are no big complaints about the Hyundai Solaris brake system. The front brake pads can withstand up to 40 thousand kilometers.

Pay attention to the condition of the front and rear bumpers. Their fastenings are not very secure, which leads to the fact that they pop out of their seats. But again, this is hardly a big problem. New attachments won't empty your wallet.

Should you buy a used Hyundai Solaris

So is it worth buying a used Hyundai Solaris? Complex issue. The Koreans were in such a hurry to bring the car to the market that they made a number of design mistakes. Another thing is that most of them have already been fixed, and the problems that arise have been resolved during warranty service. So a low-mileage Hyundai Solaris isn't all that bad. And the price for it is pleasant. So you can take it.

Today we will talk about a car, which has recently been more and more often seen on Russian roads. We are talking about a car that breaks absolute sales records in Russia after the "Lada". This car is Hyundai Solaris.

This car can be said to be the brother of Kia Rio. He completely shared his platform with his compatriot. So they have the same assembly process as the plant near St. Petersburg.

According to the Korean company, Hyundai Solaris was created specifically for the Russian market. Indeed, this car is quite affordable and the majority of the population in our time of crisis can afford this car.
The car was first introduced in 2010. In early January 2011, he entered Russian car dealerships in various trim levels, and car owners simply pounced on him. In mid-2011, a new version of the hatchback body entered the Russian market, for which there was immediately great demand. But after the car entered the hands of car owners, questions immediately arose about the quality and reliability of the Korean descendant.

So, no matter how reliable and high-quality this car is, it is a mechanism that wears out over time. And the first diseases associated with a breakdown can occur already in the first thousand kilometers. Let's talk about this.

  • engine;
  • transmission;
  • suspension;
  • body;
  • salon.

Details of common illnesses and their possible checks

Engine.

This part of Solaris is powerful enough and in some variations is almost entirely made of aluminum. Because of this, oil consumption is greatly increased. It is necessary to carefully monitor the oil level, because its shortage is fatal to the engine.

The starter does not work well after a long period of inactivity (including overnight). Sometimes the battery is to blame for a poorly starting engine. It can lose up to 80% of its charge at low temperatures.

The radiator can boil if the impeller comes off the cooling fan. After a certain distance, the bolt is simply unscrewed. The malfunction does not manifest itself in any way until the radiator boils, so you need to constantly check its condition by touch.

Many drivers complain that the car does not start well when cold. This fact may depend not only on the engine itself. This phenomenon is quite directly dependent on weather phenomena, because at negative temperatures (for example, at minus 20 degrees), the battery loses its charge up to 80%, although in winter, unlike in summer, the load on it is enormous.

In the summer, with the arrival of heat, cars begin to boil in traffic jams. There are two objective reasons. The first is that the radiator is simply clogged with fluff, dirt, leaves, and so on. In this case, you just have to clean it at the sink. The second reason is more serious than the first, but in general it will not bring anything terrible to your car. The impeller of the radiator cooling fan may have fallen off. It can fly off due to the fact that the bolt on which this installation is attached simply unscrewed. It is disgusting that it is impossible to hear the backlash. You can only see it, or rather touch it. So when buying a Hyundai Solaris car, I recommend checking the condition of the radiator and cooling fan. Well, besides this, the heart of this car and there is nothing to blame.

Transmission.

Transmission is of great importance when buying a car. When the vehicle is being run-in, it may be difficult to engage first and reverse gear. The reason is that there is no synchronizer in these transmissions. When this situation occurs, simply press the clutch again. Someone might argue that they bought a foreign car, not a tractor. Do not despair, because after the car parts are worn, it will disappear forever.

Another weak point is that you can hear a grinding sound when changing gears. This sound when turning is emitted by the input shaft bearing. This is a serious problem because as a result, it will lead to the fact that it will be necessary to replace the entire box housing and the bearing itself. Of course, you can attach the bearing to the sealant, but again, this is temporary. Therefore, when buying, we advise you to pay due attention to this, because dealers do not consider this "sore" a defect and say "well, the car is going", refusing warranty repairs. Thus, after buying a car, you will have to repair it at your own expense, and this is quite expensive.

In addition to the above flaw when changing gears, there is another one. A crunch is heard when shifting to third gear. The reason is the plastic synchronizer, but this problem is not significant.

Another "disease" is that when driving in reverse, drivers hear a hum. This indicates that it is necessary to replace the clutch cover and clutch disc, which again increases your post-purchase costs.

All the problems described above are related to the manual gearbox.

Now let's talk about the automatic transmission. If, while driving, you feel any kind of jolts or jerks, then this is a direct indicator that the valves of this car are sticking. Of course, you can put up with this. It is possible, but not necessary. There are cases when it was necessary to change the whole box. And this is one of the most unpleasant and expensive repair processes.

Another important point is the suspension, about which a lot has already been said. After its revision in 2012, the car became more assembled and stable. This affected the fact that the car became tougher, but not much, and inexperienced car owners may not even notice the difference.

With a run of about 15 thousand kilometers, the front wheel bearing may buzz, but this is not the only malfunction. With a mileage of about 30 thousand kilometers, the rear wheel bearings also emit a characteristic hum. The reason in both cases is the same, the owners simply regret pouring lubricant into the unit. You can never save on this. It is better to pay a few hundred rubles for a lubricant than then a few thousand for a repair.

Brake pads are also an important part. The front ones cover about 30-40 thousand kilometers, and the rear ones - 50-60 thousand. When buying a car, you should see if they are worn out or not, because the pads cost about 1,500 thousand rubles. Also, on the ground surface, the hammering of the calipers is possible. This is easily treated by adding lubricant to them.

The car body is completely galvanized, with the exception of the upper part - the roof. Iron, as is customary, does not fade, but there were some unpleasant cases. After winter, in places of chips and scratches, cars upset car owners with traces of corrosion on the roof, hood, bumpers. There is one more sore specifically in hatchbacks. They deteriorate the coating near the trunk lock cylinder.

The bumpers are not made of very high quality. Due to their insufficiently strong fasteners, even with a slight contact with foreign objects, the corner of the bumper comes off.

Sometimes there is a problem with the fact that car owners cannot close the trunk the first time. You have to repeat the same action several times before it closes. If you are faced with this drawback - just adjust the lock on the trunk, it is very simple and will not take you much time.

Let's analyze the car interior directly. Over time, extraneous and not very pleasant sounds appear in the car interior. This phenomenon is observed in all cars, without exception, and is due to the fact that the destruction of the material, designed to exclude the squeaks of the plastic lining in the place of the windshield outside, occurs.

Another option is not associated with the destruction of this material, but with the fact that various debris (sand, dirt, etc.) gets between this pad and the glass.

Also, extraneous noise appears near the glove compartment, but the problem here is not in the plastic, but in the fact that the source of extraneous noise is the inlet valve of the ventilation system located on the cabin filter, or rather, its cover.

The silver frame around the radio can be damaged from the plastic. Scratches often remain here. It looks attractive, but after a while it will not only stop decorating the car interior, but also spoil its appearance. Note that the frame is the same color next to the gear lever. It is this part that is most susceptible to damage.

There may be a rattling sound in the steering wheel, which makes it feel like the airbag is about to explode from the steering wheel. But no, in this case it is necessary to tighten the bolts of the airbag. Car buyers sometimes think that the pillow has already been used, but this is not the case. It is not uncommon for the seat to creak, which is very noticeable, since the seat is always used. In this case, grease the seat adjustment slide. Also, noise can be created by the rear shelf, which, due to the released mountings, begins to vibrate. Still, the Korean manufacturer did not work very well on the issue of the car's noise.

And the last thing I would like to emphasize is the number of hijackings of Hyundai Solaris. Although the car is not expensive, spare parts for it are more expensive than for domestic cars. Thus, car owners, in order to save money, buy spare parts from their hands, without even thinking where the seller of these spare parts got them from. And from this it follows that we ourselves provoke car thieves to commit crimes, since the spare parts they sell are in high demand.

So, we can conclude that this car has its pros and cons.

The main advantages are:

  • attractive appearance
  • affordable price
  • engine reliability.

The main disadvantages of Hyundai Solaris

  1. Insecure fastening of the radiator heating fan, which also affects engine cooling;
  2. Shocks are possible as a result of gear shifting;
  3. Unreliability of the input shaft bearing with a characteristic grinding noise;
  4. A hum is heard in the front wheel bearings;
  5. Steering rack fluid leaks;
  6. Knocking of calipers on the ground surface;
  7. The paint around the trunk lock will deteriorate;
  8. Rattling from under the plastic trim at the bottom of the windshield;
  9. Lack of rudder stick out.

Bottom line.

P.S .: Dear car owners, if you have noticed frequent breakdowns of any parts, units of this model, then let us know in the comments below.

    During maintenance of 75000 km (yesterday), the oil in the automatic transmission was changed for me, after which a strong vibration appeared both when driving and at idle. I'm in a panic. It is so noticeable, the cabin is noisy and shaking. I called the service, they said to come after tomorrow, I probably can't wait. And why the heck they replaced this fucking oil for me, drove great, did not bode well, the car purred. Now everything is gone .... I had a similar vibration when a hernia formed on the front wheel, not lateral, but transverse, but everything was clear there, the car was “limping” and shaking. And here it just shakes everything evenly and something buzzes. People, before changing the oil in the automatic transmission, think about whether it is worth it.

    sheer lies. except for paintwork in hatches. there was a solaris mt. except for the front pads on 60t did not change anything. now at. same. pah tfu pah. even boring))). out of 4 years of ownership of Solaris I found for myself only one drawback. I'm already sick of this car)). well, the price has also been inadequate for the last 3 years

    Automatic machine 1.4 malslo in box 85000 changed for a box of some complaints
    For 4 years, the driver of the washer bought 800r))) and the wheel bearing left original 2250r))) for 145000 and on the bumps I do not want the car even once
    Lies 4years 150,000t of run never boiled. Starts -35 without problems in any frost did not disappoint

    I own a Hyundai Solaris car for 6 years (2012 model year). Mileage is about 100,000 km. The car never boiled. Of the replacements, only the front and rear brake pads 1 time and a belt with a roller recently (as far as I know this changes as planned with my run assembled), the battery was changed 1 time after 4.5 years of operation. Nothing else broke or changed at all. The salon looks much better than many cars of the same age (or maybe I'm just neat).

    The same nonsense. Solaris 2013, mechanics, 1.4l, mileage 110 thousand km. The interior creaks a little (in winter), in the first year the engine fan was changed (some microcircuits flew), at 4.8 years the battery began to blunt, charging helps for a while, it's time to change. It seems that the rear shock absorbers have sagged a little. That's it, no more problems. I drive carefully, 95% - the track. I brake with the engine. The first 2 years MOT took place at the dealer, then - myself. I change the oil and filter every 15 thousand km (Shell Helix Ultra). Put 2 years ago Koito headlight lamps (regular weak) + changed the dimensions to ordinary LEDs (20-25 rubles each). 70-80 thousand km. summer tires began to fail, winter tires lasted for 5 seasons. I didn't change anything else, everything is native

    Solaris 2018, purchased in February. At 13,000 mileage, I found slipping during acceleration. Arriving at 1TO, an oil leak was found - an oil seal dripped, filled the entire clutch. As a result, you need to remove the engine and gearbox, because the oil seal changes from the inside. 13000 mileage !!! I had to leave the car for a week, they do it under warranty, now I walk. This is a disease, a massive breakdown, and with different mileage - from 4000 to 30000 km. Moreover, at the slightest hit of something in the windshield, cracks instantly creep. As it turned out, this is also a factory defect, and the manufacturer is aware of the fact that the seal is too thin and weak, which is why the glass has weak edges. 2 pebbles - 2 cracks. Replacement at my own expense, 7500 run was at that time.
    Before that, I went to Rio 2015 onwards, I didn't know any problems. I passed it to trade-in, there was 195,000 mileage, everything was native - racks, clutch. I only changed the wheel bearing in 172,000, that's all. From THAT to THAT. Only oil, filters, linings. It would be better not to change, honestly.
    If you've already decided to take a new Solaris, be sure to keep it under warranty. I personally will not take more Hyundai in my life.
