Auto tuning has been around for as long as the cars themselves. Every driver has a desire to change and improve something in his car, because any, even the most modern and perfect car, is only the most average idea of ​​what people like about it.

But if the car was originally white, then until the corrected information appears in the vehicle, you run the risk of getting a fine.

For fans of airbrushing and multi-color paint schemes, there is also a simple rule: airbrushing should not occupy more than 40% of the body area. The remaining 60% should remain in their native color. Alternatively, you can legitimize the new color by making changes to the TCP.

Important! The color of the vehicle must not match the color scheme of emergency vehicles, that is, it must not resemble ambulances, firefighters, gas services or police.

The situation with spoilers and body kits is well defined. They can be used only when they have the appropriate certificate.

But the installation of bumpers from other car models is, in principle, allowed, but with the mandatory introduction of a mark in the TCP. This is done so that in the event of an accident, the police have the opportunity to determine the brand of the car from the wreckage and shrapnel. When registering and registering with the traffic police, these things are monitored.

But the installation of LEDs instead of lamps in standard optics is not allowed. It is clear that if the optics were originally made for the use of LEDs, then it is possible and necessary to install them, but if it is not intended for this, then this cannot be done.

Tuning lovers have a special attitude towards xenon. But it should be remembered that the installation of any xenon fixtures in the headlights, the marking of which begins with the letter H, is unacceptable. If you buy special xenon headlights certified for your car model (their marking starts with the letter D), mount a headlight washer and auto-corrector on the car, then it is quite possible to register such tuning.

Engine and exhaust system

On the one hand, the engine has already become an ordinary spare part and is not a numbered unit, but on the other hand, the engine model fits into the TCP. That is, when replacing it, it is imperative to make changes to the TCP.

If at the plant, engines differing, for example, in volume, were installed on the same model, then their replacement can be done quite calmly, without fear that the traffic police will require a certificate of conformity.

The illegal tuning of a car also includes the installation of compressors and turbines on those engine models that are not intended for this. But the installation of a zero resistance filter is quite acceptable without any permits.

Formally, non-standard exhaust systems that exceed the permissible noise levels during their operation have always been banned, but they began to actively fight them only in recent years. The owners of those, most likely, will not be able to pass the inspection.

Brakes, steering

The attitude to these elements of the car is the most demanding and tough, because it is they that directly affect safety. The requirement is very simple - no change. Questions about what tuning is prohibited in relation to these systems should not arise at all. Even if the tuning of the brake system is aimed at improving the efficiency of the system (replacing drum brakes with disc brakes, or installing ventilated brake discs), it is still prohibited. After all, the manufacturer tested the standard elements for compliance with the standards, they are certified, and no one can give a guarantee for the result of the tuner. The factory brakes are balanced, and when they are working properly, the front and rear brakes will work at exactly the right time. Changes, even improving the parameters of individual components, can introduce an imbalance in the dynamics of braking and handling and are illegal car tuning.

The efficiency of braking should be improved by monitoring the quality of brake pads, brake drums and discs, installing good rubber, and observing the speed limit when driving.

What to do?

There is an opinion that it is impossible to determine which tuning is prohibited by law. This belief is wrong. Any tuning is allowed. But it is not always possible to operate a tuned car, and this reservation applies only to public roads.

There is a list of faults and conditions under which the operation of vehicles is prohibited. And in its last paragraph, namely in paragraph 7.18, it is clearly stated that it is forbidden to operate a car if changes are made to the vehicle design without the appropriate permission of the traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation or other bodies determined by the Government of the Russian Federation.

That is, you can install anything on your car. But from the standpoint of the law, it will not always be safe and you cannot drive it on public roads, because the car has uncertified equipment.

Few know that on December 22, 2014, the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 1123 came into force, in which several earlier orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were canceled at once, including order No. 1240 of 2000. This order determined which organizations can authorize the operation of vehicles converted in various ways. As a result, the traffic police departments cannot now check the technical parameters for compliance with the technical regulations of the converted cars. Now, in any way, the converted car must obtain a certificate from a special center for technical expertise. And the traffic police will only fix the changes in the TCP checked by experts. But the catch is that now in Russia no organization has the right to carry out such a certification of converted vehicles.

Tuning - tuning a specific car for the needs of a specific person. Tuning has gained unprecedented popularity these days. The word "tuning" means tuning or fine-tuning a car. Why does a standard car not suit its owners, why do they equip and change, make and alter, spend a lot of time and money?

Firstly, tuning allows you to distinguish a car from the general mass of the same, to make it more comfortable and individual. Someone just needs to put cool wheels for this, but someone certainly needs airbrushing or huge spoilers. Secondly, the factory standard car is something of a compromise, in it dynamics is sacrificed for top speed, handling is sacrificed for comfort, torque, maximum rpm and engine power are limited for reasons of fuel efficiency, and so on. Tuning, on the other hand, allows you to achieve from the car exactly what a particular driver needs. For one, it is enough to be the first to leave the traffic light, another needs handling at a sporty level, and someone - all at once, and even an additional 50 horses under the hood.

Automotive tuning is divided into three main areas: exterior tuning, interior tuning and tuning of mechanics: engine, transmission, chassis.

The main external effect is given to the car by the exterior tuning - aerodynamic body kit, toning, neon lights, xenon headlights, alloy wheels, airbrushing, etc. The aerodynamic body kit not only gives the car a catchy appearance, many kits offer a real aerodynamic effect. It is known that during the movement of the car, the resulting aerodynamic forces change the weight distribution along the axes. At the same time, controllability and braking efficiency deteriorate sharply. In order to give the car the correct weight distribution, adjustable "wings" are used, installed both on the roof of the car and on the trunk lid. The front bumper spoiler (sometimes referred to as a skirt) is also designed to increase downforce at high driving speeds, helping to improve vehicle handling, both on straight roads and in corners. Also, the aerodynamic body kit can carry several more important functions: to improve the cooling of the engine and ventilated brakes, both front and rear. An additional air intake helps to force air into the turbocharger, simultaneously cooling it through the intercoolers, or maybe just provide passive boost. Therefore, tuning is a single whole, using the body kit as an example, we see that external tuning not only gives a spectacular look to the car, but also does real work.

Of course, the most common are decorative types of aerodynamic kits, purchased in order to simply stand out from the crowd. Samples intended for use in motorsport, made of more durable materials and giving the maximum real effect, are much (by an order of magnitude) more expensive.

In full measure, the above can be attributed to light-alloy wheels. The alloy wheels offered in many car dealerships offer a purely visual effect, but real working wheels designed for sports use can be installed. They are much lighter in weight, which makes it easier for the engine and transmission, and reduces imbalance at high speeds. To increase power, it is necessary to increase the volume of the engine, put on it a turbine, lightweight pistons and a crankshaft. A system such as a catalyst is removed, which significantly affects the dynamics of the vehicle. After that, a so-called spider (muffler) is placed. Chip tuning

They install a spoiler, change the shape of the bumpers, and also install lightweight body parts made of carbon and other materials. Brake system

Well, now let's imagine that we have completely completed the technical tuning of the Hyundai and forgot about the brakes. A car with, say, a 106 hp engine. with. went up to 200, and a sports suspension and an advanced exhaust system were also installed. And the brakes remained standard, which simply are not designed for such a load. In this case, they are unlikely to work effectively, providing an optimal stopping distance.

Of course, one cannot but mention the shortcomings that are still there. Let's start from the very beginning. For example, let's say you decide to tune your Nissan Almera and start with the engine. Completely replaced pistons, crankshaft and much more. In this case, any malfunction will cost a lot of money.

If the overhaul of a regular motor will cost 30-50 thousand rubles, then a tuned one can be repaired for 100,000 rubles. It is clear that this is quite expensive. This applies to almost all recycled components and assemblies. Usually, more expensive components are installed, so their repair or replacement costs a pretty penny.

Well, and one more rather important detail - violation of the law. "Collective farm" xenon, dull toning or forward flow - all this is a violation of the law, and each traffic police officer will write you a fine, which is not good.

Should you go into tuning?

After all, many do not increase the amount of horsepower in order to drive on the highway at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. And any "jamb" in the engine can lead to a serious accident. Therefore, if you do not know, it is better to entrust the matter to professionals. It makes no difference to them whether they are tuning Nissan or Mazda - specialists know their job and will do everything right. But it will come with a good price. For an ordinary motorist, minimal processing is enough, which practically does not relate to the technical component.

So we figured out what tuning is and what its essence is. As you can see, there are advantages and disadvantages. If the owner really loves his car, then he will do it anyway, because a well-groomed car still looks great. Minimal tuning can be done though. A sedan, for example, unlike a hatchback, does not bring noise into the cabin from the trunk. Therefore, every hatchback owner almost always starts soundproofing from the trunk.

For some drivers it is better not to know at all what tuning is, because there are already enough reckless drivers on the road. If we talk about the limits of reason, then a slight reworking of the car's interior, the installation of high-quality noise insulation and appearance will do the trick: the car will become more comfortable, attractive externally and internally. And this is sometimes all that is needed. And if expensive tuning "Mercedes" can cost hundreds of thousands of rubles, then the domestic VAZ can be changed relatively inexpensively.

Engine tuning
