Sava tires are produced in Slovenia in the small town of Kranj. The brand's winter tires are also made in other European countries, although the main production, as well as the company's headquarters, are located in the specified town. Sava is owned by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Corporation, which bought it in 1998.

You can choose tires from Sava, whose representative office has been operating in Russia since 1993, at:

Which concern owns the Sava brand

The history of the Sava brand begins in 1920, when Atlanta Import / Export Company was founded in Kranj by 4 enthusiasts, which was soon renamed Vulkan.

In 1931, the company became the property of the Austrian company Semperit, which a year later significantly expanded its production, mastering the market for bicycle tires and technical rubber products.

The start of production of tires for automobiles in 1946 played an important role in the development of the company. At the same time, the brand was nationalized and it was decided to rename it to SAVA Rubber Products Company in accordance with the name of the river flowing through the city.

In 1998, the first tire manufactured at the Sava factories under the direction of the Goodyear concern was released. Sava is the largest Slovenian company of industrial rubber goods, steadily expanding its positions in European markets.

Sava Eskimo S3 MS

Pros of tires:
  • excellent grip on wet roads due to the use of a unique rubber composition with a silica base, which promotes intense energy dissipation in winter;
  • a decrease in stiffness at low temperatures due to a unique polymer technology;
  • excellent cross-country ability, high braking performance combined with handling and safety, achieved due to the winter tread pattern with a high density of sipes and an increase in the number of engagement edges;
  • intense resistance to aquaplaning, resulting from the use of a directional tread pattern and three longitudinal channels.

Of the shortcomings of rubber, drivers indicate:

  • increased braking distance;
  • poor adhesion to snow and ice;
  • the thinness of the sidewall;
  • rapid wear.

Sava Eskimo Stud

This is a modernized version of the popular Goodyear UltraGrip Extreme winter model. Pros of tires:

  • Demonstrate excellent grip on various types of surfaces, including ice, which is facilitated by the symmetrical directionality of the tread pattern, its V-shaped optimized design and the use of a large number of hexagonal studs;
  • They are characterized by excellent elasticity at low temperatures and high abrasion resistance due to an improved rubber compound containing a polymer with a high percentage of silicon-containing components.

From the point of view of car owners, Eskimo Stud tires exhibit softness and floatability in freezing temperatures, as well as the noise characteristic of all studded tires.

Sava Eskimo ICE tires

Inexpensive model with the following advantages:

  • increased controllability and grip at the moment of acceleration, due to the presence of a central longitudinal rib in the "hook-rib" system;
  • widened and elongated contact patch due to the multi-radius tread profile;
  • improved handling at high speeds and confident grip at low temperatures, due to the use of a two-layer tread, the inner layer of which is harder than the outer;
  • increased slash resistance and long service life thanks to increased tread depth, chamfered shoulder areas and widening drain grooves.

Judging by the reviews, Eskimo ICE Velcro practically does not cause complaints from motorists, showing, perhaps, some uncertainty on the ice.

Tires Sava Perfectа

Pros of tires:

  • long run;
  • good grip on wet asphalt;
  • reduced risk of aquaplaning;
  • low noise and increased durability;
  • four-rib tread design;
  • optimization of the tire contour;
  • the use of a special rubber compound.

To these factors should be added:

  • wide longitudinal and radial drainage grooves;
  • different sizes of tread blocks;
  • optimized distribution.

Among the disadvantages of Perfecta tires, motorists consider a fair amount of softness of the sidewall.

Sava Intensa HP tires

  • increased service life due to the use of a polymer composition and a new rubber compound based on silica;
  • widened contact patch and improved pressure distribution in it by optimizing the shape of the tread blocks and flatter bottom of the grooves;
  • improved traction on a variety of surfaces thanks to the large number of engagement edges and the use of optimized sipes in the center and shoulder tread zones.

Car owners point out the noise and softness of the sidewalls of Intensa HP tires.

Reliable tires are not only produced in Western Europe or North America. The Balkan Peninsula also boasts brands that are among the world's most renowned representatives of the tire industry. Sava tires, produced in Slovenia, are supplied to the markets of dozens of countries. The company is part of the Goodyear concern and uses advanced developments and technologies from the concern's research centers in production. Automobile rubber "Sava" complies with quality and environmental safety standards.

The lineup

The company produces tires for the following types of cars: passenger cars with small engine displacement, mid-range and minivans, premium and sports cars, SUVs, light trucks and minibuses. According to the season, they are divided into the following series:
- summer: models Effecta, Intensa, Perfecta, Trenta;
- winter: a line of models with the eloquent name Eskimo;
- all-weather: Adapto series.

The company recommends using summer tires at a temperature of at least +7 ° C, otherwise handling deteriorates, which leads to a decrease in safety. Accordingly, for winter use the temperature is no higher than +7 ° C. For driving on wet surfaces, it is better to buy Sava tires with an asymmetric tread pattern, and for snowy roads - with a directional pattern. Symmetrical ideal for dry asphalt. In the off-season, store your tires free of dirt in a dry place.

I bought tires before the 2016 season, mileage for 3 winter seasons ~ 80,000 km, mostly on the track
I will list what I liked:
1) at any minus temperature, they do not tan, even at -35 ° C they remain elastic
2) that the bare asphalt is that loose and not very snow, the grip is excellent, never got stuck
3) the noise is less than that of the Bigstone Ice Cruiser 7000
4) thorns do not fall out, maybe 1-2 per season no more.

Now "-"
1) there are no downsides for me, I liked everything. Before the season I decided to check the tires, it turned out to be worn up to 4-5mm. and this is already a critical wear. The bases of the spikes are all in place and the cores were built, so it's almost velcro. I decided to buy the same new ones, I did not find on sale the size that I need for winter tires, namely 195 / 55R15, apparently they are being removed from production, although there is not a word about this on the manufacturer's website.
In general, I recommend this tire model to everyone, it is in no way inferior to hackapelite 8 (there was an experience of 1500 km)

The tires are excellent, I took a new one, it took 3 years. On wet grass, practically bare clay, mud and sand calmly and stubbornly moves in front !!! True, the controllability is somewhat reduced, but not significantly. One minus - on the highway at a speed of 100-110 it is buzzing, it is impossible to drive with the windows open. And so the tires are generally norms. I will also take the next SAVU.

I live in the Krasnodar Territory, I took new rubber, this year there was no winter at all, I didn’t spare the rubber. I went into turns so that I thought that I would go into a skid, but no. Rubber holds on dry asphalt well, despite the fact that it is studded. I did not notice aquaplaning. After 130 she starts swimming. During the winter I lost only one spike, although once again I repeat the aggressive driving style. There is practically no wear. Rushing through the mud like a tank, I never let down THE MAIN THING AFTER THE PURCHASE OF RUBBER IT IS CORRECT TO RUN IT IN.

I got it when buying a completely new car, drove 2 thousand km, I'm not happy with the tires, it's noisy, you constantly get under way on the ice with slipping, although you don't accelerate much, very often when braking, abs works, in long turns it blows your ass! Maybe, of course, I was not lucky with the quality, made in Poland, size 195 60 15, Toyota Corolla.

Mitsubishi Lancer IX car bought Sava spike tires in 2012. Otezdil 6 seasons and I don't know how long it will last. Thorns 2/3 remained that's for sure. Those that I put on the front have worn out a little more, which is natural. And on snow porridge and on ice and snow run-up they behave confidently. Of course, if you go with your head. On the bare asphalt, they are noisy, well, the thorns. In general, excellent tires. I bought a summer kit. Let's see what the summer shows.

Sava Intensa uhp2 245 / 40r18 rubber was bought new! Fortunately, it is not expensive for 3900 rubles per wheel! Rubber is a rare g..but! I bought it in July, traveled until the end of October, in a little more than 3 months, I looked in a terrible form! All in hernias, punctures ... and I drive more or less carefully! Punctures and cuts in such unexpected places! Before that, there was a bridge stone Potenza 01, a slightly different size, leaving them for 2 seasons of no puncture, hernia, cut, etc. ... and this very Sava is praised by the sellers, they say, Goody's daughter Era ... don't take her! And without a stock, it costs almost 7,000 rubles! It is not worth the money ... and 3900 is not worth it ...

The history of the Sava brand began in 1921, when in the Slovenian city of Kranj, four local entrepreneurs founded a company for the production of rubber products. Ten years later, it was bought by the Austrian company Semperit, and by the end of the 1930s it significantly expanded its range, producing, among other things, bicycle tires.

In 1939, the company was again sold - this time to the German tire concern Continental, but eight years later it was nationalized and became known as the Sava Rubber Products Company - in honor of the river Sava flowing through the city.

Since 1948, the Sava brand has been adopted as the official trademark for the products of the enterprise, which has begun the serial production of automobile tires. After 17 years, the first tubeless tires designed for high-speed driving rolled off the assembly line of the Slovenian enterprise, and in 1974 (two years after the merger with Semperit), the production of radial tires with steel belts for passenger cars began.

In 1995, Sava decided to establish a strategic partnership with the large American concern Goodyear. This year is considered the beginning of the modern history of Sava, and two years later a joint venture with Goodyear was created, with the American company acquiring 60% of the shares of the Slovenian partner.

Sava tires are based on Goodyear technologies

At the beginning of the 2000s, Sava entered the stock market for the first time by placing its shares on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange. By that time, annual production volumes had reached 5.5 million tires. In 2002, Goodyear increased its stake in the joint venture to 80%, and two years later bought out Sava in full, resulting in the creation of a new venture - Goodyear Dunlop Sava Tires.

Currently, the Sava brand produces tires for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, and the plant in Kranj is one of the most equipped in Europe. In addition, the company is a distributor of Goodyear products and other brands of the joint venture in the former Yugoslavia, as well as in Albania.

The reason for this is the special shape of the studs with six corners, which adhere perfectly to any, even the most slippery surface, ensuring full grip. The manufacturer assures us that a special silicon layer allows this model to remain soft and elastic even in the most severe cold conditions, which is important for a comfortable ride on bumpy roads.
  2. The line of winter tires Sava Eskimo has recently been replenished with a new model. Winter tires Sava Eskimo S3 have no worse reviews than the previous model. The owners note the following advantages:
  3. - does not make a strong noise;
    - the wet surface does not affect the handling of the machine;
    - copes with both ice and mud;
    - passes even on loose snow.

  4. On the Internet, namely on the forums of motorists, reviews of Sava Eskimo winter tires appear more and more often. Sava Eskimo Ice is a Polish model made for the harshest, frosty regions. Now let's look at the characteristics of Nitto's opponent:

  • according to reviews, the tires of this manufacturer, like the Sava winter tires, do an excellent job with various negatively affecting weather conditions: ice, snowfall, porridge on the road;
  • however, the owners' reviews inform that the models of this company create much more noise when driving on clean asphalt, and the level of wear resistance is much lower.
