home / About cars

Today, car repair with your own hands is a process that you can carry out yourself. This does not require special skills or abilities, it is enough to stock up on a certain amount of time, effort and a minimum amount of tools. Do-it-yourself oil change in a Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is a common request on the Internet. In order to carry out a lubricant change at a high professional level, you should use a step-by-step algorithm, clearly following the sequence of actions.

Functions of oil in automatic transmission in a car

The oil change in the automatic transmission on the Mazda cx5 should occur on a regular basis. A car with poor transmission lubrication loses its own power resources, often breaks down and eventually fails. First of all, the oil in the automatic transmission performs the following functions:

  • Cooling special mechanism, special gear design;
  • Protection against external influences, including corrosion of the metal inside the mechanism itself;
  • Providing smooth grip;
  • Transfer of a special torque element of the system;
  • Providing a special lubrication that provides preventive action and prevents wear on the mechanism within the system.

As a rule, special requirements are imposed on the automatic transmission oil, which in normal mode are much higher than that of the engine oil.

How to independently change the oil in an automatic transmission in a Mazda cx5?

What mileage is needed to change the oil in the automatic transmission in the Mazda cx5 is a common request among motorists and car owners. In order to carry out the process correctly, you should give preference only to high-quality lubricating fluids, such as ATF M-V and ATF - FZ. To date, the cost of this product is about 350 rubles.

There are several variations of oil change in a car. The first option is a simplified way to change the product, the second is with a complete replacement of the oil filter. With a simplified method, you will need a jack and a special container for draining the grease, as the necessary tools at hand. In the second option, it is required to remove the automatic transmission pan to gain access to the oil filter.

According to the technical user manual, the oil change intervals are about 4 months when the vehicle is operated in normal urban conditions. It is worth remembering that when using a vehicle in extreme conditions, replacement should occur more often.

Mazda cx5 and cx9 have a similar structure of the mechanism, respectively, the algorithm for changing the transmission fluid is similar.

Safety precautions must be observed in both the first and second options. To do this, turn off the car ignition for 15 minutes - thereby letting the car cool down, after which you can start working.

Draining old oil and flushing the sump with removal of chips

The removal of used transmission oil from the gearbox for Mazda cx5 is carried out in accordance with the following step-by-step instructions:

  • Unscrewing the drain plug according to the technical manual of the user;
  • Wait a while to drain the automatic transmission oil into a special container;
  • If there are residues of grease or shavings at the bottom, you must use an ordinary syringe to remove old residues in the system;
  • Flush the system with a special liquid, according to the technical manual of the user.
  • To do this, use the original Mazda car fluid. Use a rag to wipe the magnets from metal shavings.

It is also necessary to check the condition of the filter in the system and, if necessary, replace it.

Filling new oil in automatic transmission

The step-by-step process of filling the new Mazda CX-5 fluid and changing the oil in the automatic transmission is as follows:

  • First you need to unscrew a special automatic transmission pallet;
  • Wipe it dry with a special rag, preferably lint-free;
  • Install the automatic transmission filter, replace the gasket if necessary;
  • Fill with new fluid. You should focus on the required amount of lubricant using a special dipstick and markings;
  • Tighten the drain plug carefully in the desired direction. Check for leaks in the system.

To determine after how many km to change the oil in the automatic transmission on the Mazda cx9, it is necessary first of all to focus not on the time frame, but on the vehicle mileage, and also regularly check the quality of the transmission fluid and monitor the level of its contamination. If it is severely darkened, it should be replaced immediately.

Most owners turn to service centers when needed oil change for Mazda CX 5... Such actions, if desired, can be performed independently using step-by-step instructions, which we have provided in this article. It will be useful both for the owners of this vehicle and for the people providing these services. To do this, you need to acquire a pair of keys, a flyover and special consumables.

Oil change in automatic transmission Mazda CX 5

Automatic transmission for smooth operation requires periodic oil changes... It can be of several types:

  1. Partial. 3-4 liters are drained from the pallet and the same amount is poured through the dipstick. The automatic transmission is heated and the level is set.
  2. Partial with filter change. Such an oil change in the automatic transmission Mazda CX 5 also involves the installation of a new cleaning element.
  3. Complete with filter replacement. In this case, changing the oil in the Mazda CX 5 machine also involves running the fluid.

In general, the order of work includes a number of actions. It:

For better performance, a sweep is performed Mazda CX 5 for 10 minutes.

Manual Transmission, as in the first case, provides for the use of a special liquid. The process is almost identical to the previous one. Oil change in manual transmission Mazda CX 5 initially involves checking its level. This is done using a dipstick. The level should be at the edge of the filler plug hole. In the event that it is not enough, the required amount is added. This is done through the drain plug.

Changing the oil in the box Mazda CX 5 is performed similarly in both cases. It is important to remember that filling involves the use of a composition that has a viscosity of 0W-20. That is why it is recommended to use the original options. This is 0W-20 (SN) or 5W-30 (SM).

Changing the Mazda CX 5 oil with your own hands or at a service center should be done every 15,000 km. For the best result - after 7,500 km. Changing the oil in the Mazda CX 5 engine is performed when the unit is cold and the car is on level ground. After that, the machine should run a little.

Changing the oil in the gearbox Mazda CX 5

Changing the oil in the gearbox also involves a number of actions:

  • the filler plug of the device and the drain plug are unscrewed so that the liquid is glass;
  • eliminates two fasteners (allows you to speed up the process);
  • the drain plug is twisted;
  • fresh oil is poured.

Oil change in razdatka Mazda CX 5

Changing the oil in the transfer case is carried out by analogy with a gearbox. But in this case, it is recommended to use a head with an extension to make it easier to get to the neck.

We have a Mazda CX-5 car on scheduled maintenance, on which it is necessary to change the oil in the automatic transmission. We will show you a visual photo and video instruction on how to do it yourself.

For work, we need a 4 liter oil canister, with the approval of the Mazda company, you can use the original, but we will fill in an analog that has shown itself well. We will make the replacement with the removal of the pallet, it is installed on the sealant, so you need to purchase it in advance. You will also need to purchase an automatic transmission filter.

We unscrew the bolts securing the crankcase protection (3 bolts in the front and 2 in the rear), move it slightly forward and lower it. We have removed the protection of the engine compartment, but it is difficult for us to get to the dipstick of the oil filter. We need to unscrew the iron plate on which the crankcase protection is attached:

We got access to the probe, now we turn off the screw that secures the probe to the box casing with a 10-inch head. We do this due to the fact that it is extremely problematic to get to this probe from above, we block access to the air duct.

Now we need to check the oil level and make sure that it is normal, since we will fill in based on the volume of the old oil drained. We take out and wipe the dipstick and then reinsert it into the box, start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature, move the selector to all positions and return it to the parking lot. We take out the dipstick again, wipe it and insert it into the automatic transmission.

We take out and check the level, it should be normal. With an 8 hexagon, unscrew the drain plug on the gearbox pallet:

We drain the old oil into a prepared container, then it is necessary to take a measurement in order to understand how much will need to be poured later. After draining, wrap the cork back. We proceed to remove the pallet, we need to unscrew 16 bolts with a 10 head:

We unscrewed all the bolts, but the pallet is still held by the sealant, so we take a mounting spade and pry it from several sides:

We prepare a wide container in advance, where the oil will flow from the pallet. Unscrew the automatic transmission filter:

When removed, it will also pour out old oil. There is a magnet in the pallet, which attracts small metal shavings, be sure to remove it and thoroughly clean it. We clean the pallet and remove the remnants of the old sealant.

We pre-lubricate the rubber seals on the filter with ATF and install it in place. We apply a thin layer of sealant to the pallet, so that, upon contact, it cannot get into the inside of the box. We carefully apply it, bait all the bolts, then tighten them all evenly.

Now we need to pour oil into our machine, since access to the dipstick is blocked by the air filter housing, so we remove it. We unscrew the two bolts of the air intake:

We unfasten the connector from the MAF sensor. We loosen the clamp from the air intake. We remove the pipe from the air filter housing and take it to the side. Lift the filter housing, unfasten the harness fastener from the side:

Remove the housing together with the air filter. We insert a hose of a suitable size into the hole of the probe and a funnel at its other end:

We fill in new oil, the same volume that we drained, we got almost 4 liters. Putting everything together in the reverse order, warm up the engine and check the level on the dipstick.

The main forms of oil change in automatic transmission

1. "Plum-Zaliv". The simplest and fastest form of fragmented oil change in the "box" automatic transmission. Old oil is drained through the drain hole in the automatic transmission pan. The approximate volume is 3.5-4 liters. This amount of fresh oil is poured into the "box" through the technological hole for the dipstick for checking the oil level.

2. Incomplete oil change with automatic transmission oil filter change ... Work of medium complexity. Operations for removing the automatic transmission pan and replacing the filter are added to the first point.

3. Complete oil change with automatic transmission oil filter change ... Performed at the service station using special equipment (for example, the Wynn's TranServe II + device)

Checking the transmission oil level in the automatic transmission

Checking the oil level is carried out on an automatic transmission warmed up to 50 degrees (automatic gearbox)
Place the car in the inspection pit. The work is carried out from the bottom of the car.
Remove the pallet protection. Unscrew the screw 10 that holds the dipstick. Remove the dipstick from the technological hole. There are 2 marks on the dipstick - max and min.

Start the engine.
Wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth (rag).
Insert the dipstick into the technological hole for measuring the oil level in the automatic transmission.
"Work" with the gear lever, switching the speed modes. Start from "Parking" to the last gear and in reverse order. Switch without long pauses, within 2 seconds. between gears.

At the end of the gear shifting procedure, remove the dipstick and visually assess the oil level in the automatic transmission.
Evaluate the quality of the oil by dropping it from the dipstick onto a blank sheet of white paper.

Incomplete oil change with automatic transmission oil filter change.

Place the car in the inspection pit. Remove the engine protection (if it is on the vehicle), to do this, loosen the 2 bolts at the rear and unscrew the 3 bolts at the front. Gently pull the guard forward, along the direction of the vehicle, and down. There is access to the automatic transmission pan and drain plug.

To access the dipstick, remove the front cover to which the engine compartment protection is attached. With a 10 key or a head, unscrew the screw that attaches the probe to the automatic transmission case. Of course, it's easier to do this from above, from under the hood, to do this, remove the air filter. And it will still come in handy for starting the engine.

Check the oil level in the box as described above.

The oil level should be within the normal range. Guideline for filling in fresh oil, the volume of the old drained.
Make sure that the oil level is normal, unscrew the drain plug from the automatic transmission pan. An 8 hex key is used.

Substitute container to drain old oil. Measure how much of the used oil has drained off, pour in the same amount when filling with fresh oil.

Wipe the drain hole and screw the plug in the box.
Take a 10 wrench and unscrew 16 bolts around the pallet.

The pallet is on the sealant, to remove, use a spudger or flat-head screwdriver, inserting it from different sides and working like a lever.

A certain amount of old oil remains in the sump and filter, prepare a container in advance in order to substitute for draining the remaining oil.

Remove the old automatic transmission oil filter.

Inspect and clean the pallet from old sealant around the perimeter and possible dirt.
The pallet contains a magnet that collects metal dust. Remove, clean, put in place.

Install the new filter in place, having previously lubricated the rubber seals with fresh gear oil.

To remove the air filter, loosen the clamp at the air intake. Unfasten the connector at the DMRV (mass air flow sensor). Remove and move aside the pipe from the air filter housing.
Unfasten the retaining clip for the harness. To do this, lift the filter housing and squeeze the piston from the side.

Pull up and remove the air filter housing together with the filter.

Remove the dipstick and insert a hose suitable for the diameter of the hole. Put a funnel on the free end of the hose to make it easier to fill in fresh oil.

When filling with oil, we control the volume to be filled. It should be no more than the old oil has been drained.

After filling with oil, insert the dipstick, fix it and assemble the air filter into place.

After warming up the engine to 50 gr. Check the oil level on the dipstick.
Reinstall engine guard.

Oil change with filter change completed.

Video: Oil change in an automatic transmission Mazda CX-5

Many automakers claim that the fluid in automatic transmissions in cars is designed to last for the life of the vehicle. Often this statement implies that after a certain mileage (as a rule, it is 200-300 thousand km), the entire automatic transmission will need to be replaced.

In real operating conditions on Russian roads, such a large mileage without changing the oil in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is practically unattainable. As practice has shown, problems begin long before the 200 thousand km mark.

In order to avoid problems with the gearbox, which result in expensive repairs, many owners of Mazda CX-5 cars replace or partially update the fluid in the gearbox. This operation can significantly extend the service life of the automatic transmission.

Features of the automatic transmission Mazda CX-5

The automatic transmission on the car in question is designed according to the classic scheme for Japanese transmissions. The large collapsible housing contains a torque converter, a set of planetary gears and clutch packs, as well as a control valve body.

The box has a removable pallet. Despite the manufacturer's assurances that the oil in the automatic transmission is filled for the entire period of operation, a drain plug is provided in the sump.

Automatic box CX-5

On boxes of some other manufacturers, in which grease is filled for life, either there is no plug or there is no sump. In this case, it is possible to change the oil only by connecting it to the break in the cooling system or after disassembling.

An interesting feature of the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is the filter design. Unlike most filters on other cars, where a metal mesh is used as a filter element, a fibrous material is used here.

This prevents flushing when changing the oil. Therefore, you will have to install a new one. O-rings are included with the filter, so you do not need to buy them separately.

Mazda's automatic transmission is quite reliable, subject to the operating conditions, it is able to work out the laid down resource without problems. However, in real life, you should not rely on the reliability of Japanese cars.

The Russian quality of roads, as well as the frequent excess of the permissible loads on the transmission, significantly reduce the resource. Therefore, in Russia, the owners of these cars often violate the manufacturer's instructions and do it themselves.

Selection of materials and preparation for replacement

Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is filled with Mazda ATF FZ 1 oil. This is an original oil, and its cost is higher than average among transmission lubricants. Therefore, many motorists use counterparts from third-party manufacturers when replacing.

gear lubricant

There are several analogs. All of them are selected based on the availability of tolerances. The most available substitute on our market is Ravenol ATF FZ1 gear lubricant. The amount of oil required depends on the level of replacement.

For the car in question, there are 3 possible options:

  • partial renewal without dismantling the pallet;
  • partial replacement with removal of the pallet and replacement of the filter;
  • complete replacement.

With a partial refresh of the lubricant without dismantling the sump, approximately 3.4-3.6 liters of grease will be required. If you plan to replace the filter, then here the amount of required lubricant increases to 3.7-3.9 liters.

How to change the oil in your own hands Mazda CX-5- video

A complete replacement on the vehicle in question will require about 20 liters of oil. Of course, this is not the actual amount of grease poured into the Mazda CX-5 box.

This amount of fluid is necessary to complete a full cycle of pumping the system using a special stand for changing the oil in the automatic transmission. The specifics of the operation of the machine on this car does not allow a complete manual replacement without the risk of damage.

The second important question: how long does it take to replace? There are no manufacturer's recommendations here, and the opinions of ordinary motorists and specialists differ. The average mileage between the next automatic transmission maintenance is indicated at 60 thousand kilometers. This is for a partial replacement.

There are also several opinions on what mileage is made. It is highly recommended not later than after 150 thousand to completely replace the grease.

By this time, the filter is critically clogged, which increases the resistance to the passage of liquid through it. This leads to malfunctions in the automatic transmission.

To perform a partial update or complete replacement with dismantling the pallet, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • the head is 10 and the hexagon is 8;
  • screwdriver;
  • crowbar or powerful flat screwdriver;
  • keys for dismantling the protection (the methods of fastening the protection for different cars may differ);
  • sealant;
  • clean lint-free rags;
  • empty container, preferably with a measuring scale for assessing the amount of drained mining;
  • funnel or oil syringe with a hose;
  • carburetor cleaner or other liquid for cleaning oily surfaces.

It is advisable to do all work with an assistant. But you can do it yourself.

Partial replacement step by step

Partial replacement without dismantling the pallet is quite simple. After placing the car on an overpass or inspection pit, the following algorithm of actions is performed:

If a filter replacement is planned in parallel, the sump is dismantled after draining the oil. To do this, unscrew 16 screws for a turnkey by 10. There is a magnet in the pallet, designed to catch metal wear products.

By the quantitative and qualitative composition of metal particles, it is possible to assess the degree of wear of the automatic transmission. After dismantling, the pallet is thoroughly cleaned of oil residues and fine metal particles.

Installing a new filter

The filter is mounted on two bolts 10 times. After removing it, another 300-400 grams of oil will drain.

The pallet is connected to the crankcase without a gasket. The sealant function is performed by a layer of sealant. When installing the pallet, it is important to carefully apply the sealant to the mating surfaces.

We clean the magnet on the pallet

Insufficient quantity may cause leaks. Surplus can be squeezed into a pallet. Subsequently, they will fall into the filter, where they will remain forever. This will reduce the throughput of the filter element.

Complete replacement with a stand

On a Mazda CX-5, a complete replacement means contacting a car service, which has an installation for changing the oil in an automatic transmission. Complete replacement on your own without understanding how the working fluid circulates in the system, or without specialized equipment, can damage the box.

When completely replaced, a new filter is installed. The operation will require 16 to 20 liters of new transmission oil. As practice shows, the clarified liquid comes out after pumping through the system of 10-12 liters.

But to completely clean the system of old grease, you will need to use about 20 liters. It will be necessary to completely update the fluid after interfering with the mechanical component of the automatic transmission or in the case of flushing the valve body.

Any repairs made with the dismantling of the box and its disassembly involves the replacement of the transmission oil.
