ZAZ Forza is a name for the Ukrainian Chery A13 model market, which has been sold with a Chinese name for a short time. In the 2008-2009 crisis, ZAZ entered very quickly. The plant had to be stopped, as consumer demand in Ukraine fell literally in many months at times. The only hope was exported to Russia. But here the plant had to face an unforeseen circumstance. General Motors in 2009 refused to buy Chevrolet Lanos cars for the implementation in Russia. It was necessary to urgently from scratch to build a sales network, start implementing independently. I had to go to the markets of the CIS countries with a new name - ZAZ Chance. Partially it allowed you to not fitload the factory, but still, more than 50% of the capacity remains vacant. The production of "Tavriy" by that time was already minted, and "Slavuta" due to high overhead costs was extremely difficult, although it was the most affordable car on the market.

Already then it was clear that only export can save the plant. Zazz urgently needed another car with which it was possible not only to the Ukrainian market, but also to sell it in other CIS countries. In 2009, ZAZ began the SKD assembly of Kia C'eed, and the shareholders of the plant negotiated with the Korean corporation on full-scale production. At first, the prospects seemed to be planned good, but Kia Motors bet on the factories in Russia, and very reluctantly agreed on the contract assembly.

In parallel, the difficulties with the organization of production in the CIS experienced Chery. This company one of the first came to Russia, was actively developed, to reduce the cost, organized an assembly of its cars at the Kaliningrad Factory "Avtotor", and was ready to build their own factory in Russia. But the expansion of Chinese cars opposed the powerful lobby of the Russian car industry. Chery from the beginning did not give the opportunity to get benefits and build their factory, then the contract on the assembly broke the "Avtotor", and the distributor was changed.

Chery began to look for new auto plants, and was forced to organize production in Taganrog, where the local producer part of the car was sold under his Vortex brand, and the part was given to the Chery dealer network. Chinese automakers conducted negotiations with the Belarusian authorities, promising to build a plant in Minsk, but then they were afraid that the worsening of political relations between Russia and Belarus will leave them without the main market.

All this time was negotiations with ZAZ, and gradually positions Chery became more loyal, which eventually resulted in an agreement on strategic partnership. ZAZ received the right to produce a Chery A13 car, which will be sold under the market under the name of Forza. For the Russian market, on the order of Chery itself, the ZAZ will supply cars under the brand Chery.

The agreement assumes that ZAZ localizes more than 50% of the added value of the finished car, including the engine assembly and gearboxes.

Thus, partners got what they wanted. ZAZ - another model for loading production and implementation in the Ukrainian market under its own name. Chery - access to the Ukrainian market, and most importantly - Russia, since cars of Ukrainian production can be delivered to Russia. Daewoo, General Motors, AvtoVAZ, KIA, and even Daimler-Chrysler. ZAZ has already been led by the full-scale production of Opel Astra, Lada-21093 \\ 99, planned production of the E-class car, etc. But I was able to keep the production of only Lanos.

Alliance with Chery can become very promising, given that this is one of the most dynamically developing companies in the world. Chery already speaks of sales of 1 million cars, although 4-5 years ago released 200-300 thousand cars, mainly Amulet and QQ. Now Chery already has its own engineering center, modern engine production, several factories. ZAZ can become a CHERY partner in the CIS, and possibly the first bridge to enter the European Union. But there are many political barriers on this rainbow path, so it's too early to draw conclusions. Obviously, the ZAZ simply was not an alternative to cooperation with Chinese manufacturers. In post-crisis conditions, only they were ready to share with its technology with a zaz.
