If we compare the parameters of competitors, it is noticeable that the Priora surpasses its counterpart in length, but Granta wins back in width and height. The Priora has a longer wheelbase, however, the front and rear tracks are narrower, and the trunk is noticeably smaller. A clear comparison of the parameters is presented in the table:

We should also mention the ground clearance. At first glance, the cars are almost equal, because the difference is only 5 mm in favor of the Priora. However, this is only true when comparing both rivals with manual transmissions and a robot. If Granta is equipped with a classic automatic transmission, then it sags noticeably, since its ground clearance is reduced to only 145 mm. In light of this, we can admit that in terms of dimensions, there is a combat draw.

Exterior

Everything here is subjective. It is noticeable that the Priora was created back in the first decade of the 21st century, when the Lancer IX, KIA Ceed and others were taken as an example. This left its mark.

Priora has a convex headlight optics, a massive sloping hood and an unpretentious bumper. In addition, the front end is decorated with tiny round foglights and a trapezoidal grille with chrome edging.

In profile, large doors and long body overhangs are immediately noticeable, and the glazing area is impressive. In addition, a long stamping line crosses the entire sidewall. But there are no plastic moldings. The stern is not bad - a smooth bumper, high feet, a massive trunk lid with a shiny lining. Not too bland, but there is nothing flashy either.

Lada Granta is made in a more modern style, but her appearance is frankly boring. It is noticeable that the designers set themselves the goal of creating a sort of "universal" model. At the front, it is distinguished by large headlights, a radiator grille and an air intake, which, in fact, occupy the entire front view. And the composition is completed by a large hood and round foglights.

On the side, there are similar body overhangs, as well as plastic door trims, painted black. And the side windows are no less than those of the Priora. At the back, a huge trunk lid with a pair of "claw-like" undershapes catches the eye. And the fact that the license plate is installed in the rear bumper only enhances the impression.

Engines

Lada Priora boasts a pair of engines, while its counterpart has 3 engines. In many ways, these power units are similar - they have an atmospheric design, an injector, an in-line arrangement of 4 cylinders and a transverse arrangement in the engine compartment.

For Priora and Granta, the list opens with an 8-valve gasoline engine with a volume of 1.6 liters. Power is frankly small and amounts to 87 liters. sec., which are reached at around 5,100 revolutions. However, a good torque helps out, which is not only 140 Nm, but is already available at 3,800 rpm. The consumption of the models is identical and quite acceptable - 9.0 / 7.0 / 5.8 l. With such characteristics, the Priora accelerates to a hundred in a quite decent 12.5 seconds, giving out a maximum of 176 km / h. Maximum speed Grants are noticeably less (167 km / h), but the dynamics are slightly better - 12.2 sec.

There is also one more common motor. It has already become a 16-valve engine, also with a volume of 1.6 liters. Its power is noticeably higher and reaches 106 horses at 5,800 rpm, but the thrust has increased slightly, stopping at around 148 "newtons" at 4,200 rpm. The fuel consumption is almost the same. For Priora, it is 8.9 / 6.8 / 5.6, while for Grants - 8.6 / 6.7 / 5.6. Regarding dynamics, the Priora exchanges a hundred in 11.5 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 183 km / h. Results Grants - 10.9 sec. and 183 km / h. However, this is true for versions with manual transmission5. With AMT5, Granta performance is worse - 12.3 sec. and 180 km / h, supplemented by an appetite of 9.0 / 6.6 / 5.2 liters.

But the round remains with Grant, since she has one more unit in the store - a 1.6-liter, 98-horsepower 16-valve. Its peak recoil is at 5,600 rpm, and the maximum torque of 145 Nm is achievable at 4,000 rpm. However, due to aggregation exclusively with AT4, the results are average - 13.3 sec. up to a hundred, a maximum speed of 173 km / h and an appetite of 9.9 / 7.6 / 6.1 liters.

Gear boxes

There is a complete victory for the Grants. After all, Priora can only offer a 5-speed "mechanics", which the opponent also has. In general, the box is not bad. However, while driving, many people note discomfort - the lever vibrates, the gears are far from always engaging clearly, to the point that their gearshift knob has to be literally driven into the groove. Yes, and departures of speeds, at times, happen.

Nevertheless, in addition to the "handle", LADA Granta also has a classic 4-band from JATCO (model JF414E) for a 98-horsepower engine, and also a 5-speed domestic-made AMT 2182 robot. Of course, with such transmissions, the dynamics are a little worse, and the consumption is higher, however, these gearboxes are quite at the level of competitors that are sold at about the same price, and most importantly, they make it possible to forget about constant switching, which is more than important in megacities.

Chassis

The layout of the undercarriage is the same for the models. This is the standard, as for such a segment, semi-independent scheme, with a torsion beam on the rear axle and MacPherson struts on the front. disc in front, and drum in the back. Of course, the suspension of both models cannot be called driver's, but its energy intensity is at a height, which, coupled with good ground clearance (like some crossovers), makes both cars ideal for country (and not only) roads.

Interior

Of course, interior design is a subjective matter, but most are in favor of Priora. After the restyling, the interior of the sedan has noticeably freshened up. It is made in a classic style with a touch of sportiness.

A sweeping 3-spoke steering wheel rises in front of the driver, behind which is an elegant dashboard with convenient dials recessed into small wells. All the option control keys are concentrated on the rectangular center console, although they are frankly low, especially the disc temperature and air flow controls. However, this is a consequence of the large display and air vents, which took up almost half of the entire space. The entire dashboard is made of solid dark plastic.

The seats are not bad, but they clearly lack lateral support, which makes it difficult to control the car in tight corners. Visibility is on par, although the wide A-pillars limit the sector. There is ample space in the back, and the trunk is not the smallest.

In Grant, things are a little different. The dashboard is perfectly readable, but it looks much simpler, and the center console rounded at the bottom is not so elegant, and round air vents are placed on the top of the dashboard, like rocket nozzles. On the other hand, the ergonomics are better thought out on it and the lower controls are not blocked by the gearshift lever, as in the Prior. Roomy recess above the glove compartment. The steering wheel is almost the same as that of the Priora, and the black finishing plastic too.

With visibility, things are about the same as with the seats. The rear is quite comfortable, but the trunk of the Grants is much larger - by 90 liters.

Equipment

The configurations of the models are approximately the same. The only difference is that in the basic configuration of the Standard, Grants have only one airbag, EBD, ABS and BAS systems, DRL, and audio preparation. The Priora, in the Standard version, additionally has an eyeglass case, an on-board computer, an armrest, an electric power steering and handles painted in body color. And the price is almost the same - the Grant costs 383,900 rubles, and the Prior is given for 389,000 rubles. Such equipment as Priora (slightly better) in Grant can only be obtained in the Normal / Classic version, which costs 419 600 rubles.

As the cost rises, technical indicators increase, and the equipment becomes richer - there is an air conditioner, heated seats, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, an armrest in the rear sofa and other options.

In the top, the price of Priora reaches 491,000 rubles, while for Grants it is equal to 541,400 rubles. However, the difference of 50,000 rubles, taking into account approximately the same technical data, is quite justified, since LADA Granta has a multimedia complex completely inaccessible to a competitor with a 7-inch display such as TouchScreen, Bluetooth, parking sensors, a passenger airbag, light and rain sensors and other options.

As you can see, the choice between Lada Priora and Lada Granta is not so simple, but also not too difficult. Given the almost identical characteristics of the motors (except for the 98-horsepower), there remains only the question of the transmission, since fans of automatic machines will have to choose only Grant. Its price is slightly higher, however, given the presence of an automatic transmission, a robot and more generous equipment, the difference is quite justified.
