How to remove the gearbox (gearbox)

For any repair of the VAZ 2106 gearbox, you will need to completely dismantle it from the car. This procedure is certainly not the simplest one, but if you have a garage and a pit, then every car owner can do it.

I personally rented the checkpoint on all my cars more than 10 times, probably, as I often had to disassemble the "classic" models. And unfortunately, it was not possible to record a detailed photo report on the work done. The last time this was, I managed to take a few pictures in order to at least roughly show the clarity of this work.

So, the first thing worth mentioning is the tool you need to get the job done:

  • Hammer
  • Pliers
  • Crank and ratchet handle
  • Extension
  • Socket head 13 mm
  • Key for 19
  • Split wrench for unscrewing the brake fluid pipe

Before proceeding with the repair, you will need to do some preparatory measures, namely:

  1. , since when repairing it in any case, drain
  2. Detach one end
  3. Disconnect the speedometer drive cable and reverse frog power wire
  4. From inside the cabin, unscrew the plastic black trim under the gearshift lever, and also remove the lever - it is highly desirable

So, when all the preparatory points have been made, you can proceed directly to the removal itself. To do this, unscrew the brake fluid supply pipe to the gearbox, as shown in the photo below:

Then remove the retaining plate and release the hose:

When the cardan is disconnected, we unscrew all the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine, including the small bolts of the tin protection. Then you can unscrew the suspension bar, on which the gearbox is held.

Be careful that nothing falls on your head. Use insurance while doing this job. You can put a special stop under the box to fix it.

As you can see, in the photo above, the speedometer drive cable is still not disconnected, and with the help of pliers we do all this in a matter of seconds:

In general, ideally, of course, unscrew it first. Also, there are a few things to note about the gimbal. It is also better to disconnect it from the splines by pulling it off the checkpoint.

The installation is of course more problematic, since you first have to combine the box with the engine, and only then screw the outboard and put on the propeller shaft. If there is at least one more VAZ 2106 in possession, then I will try to make a video review on this topic, since it is very problematic to show everything in the pictures!
