With connecting rods, things are somewhat harder. To achieve good engine operation, it is necessary to customize separately the upper and lower rod heads, which was and done, even earlier for this purpose, a device was made, in the form of hard suspension and lever scales, which gives the result of accuracy to 0.2 g.

Piston group (Gelza used). Experience in operating repaired engines showed that the recommended gap between the cylinder sleeve and the piston skirt, 0.03-0.045 mm, is insufficient for these engines, it is especially for the engines with a 100-mm piston group.
Whether the material from which the pistons are made is greater than the temperature of the linear extension, whether the book details are incorrect, but if after honinging, the gap will be less than 0.08-0.1 mm, during the operation of the car, the piston skirt is running . In the end, one Slus was chosen, a little rigorous, but with the acceptable quality of the performance of work surfaces. The balls had to pick up others, with a permissible tension, came the balls, in diameter, by 0.07 mm less than standing.

Clutch basket. Three holes, in the basket casing, for fastening the forks, were drilled to a diameter of 12 mm, under the adjusting nuts of the forks, from the "Volga's clutch", and the "Volgo" paws were applied with needle bearings. The only thing that had to be done with them is to lengthen each of 8 mm by welding, and all three collected in the conductor are converted. (UAZ footsteps that appeared on sale, and the design resembling "Volgovsky", made from "raw" metal and are not amenable to hardening.)
Instead of nine tough, UAZ springs, six paired "Volgovsky" were applied, as practice showed, their efforts are more than enough for the normal inclusion of adhesion, due to this, excess loads are removed in all pairs, from the pedal of clutch and to the pressure disk, plus, pedal It becomes very "elastic."

The pulley of the pump is made anew, with a diameter of 100 mm and under two belts, the crankshaft pulley with a diameter of 160 mm was performed. The fact is that for normal operation of the generator with a capacity of 1000 watts, which we applied, one belt is not enough.

And one more goal, which we pursued by changing the diameters of the pulleys, is an increase in pump revolutions and a fan, respectively, to improve the efficiency of cooling and heating systems.

Brake system. The fact that it was modified in it is a vacuum amplifier (there was no repair before repair) and instead of full-time working cylinders, Volgovsky were applied, self-disgraced.
As I mentioned earlier, brake drums were perfted. After that, the minimum of the brake refinement was just a "fairy tale".

Gas drive. In the engine power system, the K-151 carburetor was applied, therefore it was decided to perform a cable drive. It made it possible to remove the backlash in the gas drive and get rid of the "Heaps of unnecessary hardware".
For this, a pulley was made with two streams, diameters of 45 and 115 mm, under the rebar spring and the cable of the carburetor damper drive. The 90 degree segment was cut out of the pulley and is fixed on the axis of the pedal of gas, next to the wall of the tunnel, closer to the driver's side.
On the wall itself, the focus was fixed, under the bulb cable and the adjusting screw of the return spring.
On the stiletto fastening of the carburetor, a homemade bracket was installed with an emphasis, similar to "Volgovsky".
The use of pulleys, in the gas drive, gave a linear dependence, between the deviation of the gas pedal and the discovery of the throttle dampers of the carburetor, plus the smoothness and softness of the gas pedal stroke.

The filter element, due to the very limited subcarrane space, applied flat, square shape. They are produced for injection engines, cars VAZ. With its compactness, they have high filter properties and low airflow resistance.
The filter housing was made with a shared platform, under the carburetor and the filter element, so that the filter element rose over the valve cover. The air flow into the filter is directed from below along the engine, the problem was solved with the heated air of the suction air. The only thing that had to remake in this case is the hint of the engine hood.

Control mechanism, gearbox.
The lower part of the intermediate levers was cut and elongated: the selection lever is 40 mm, the switching lever is 60 mm.
With slightly increased efforts on the gear shift lever, it gave a very tangible decrease in its stroke, and since the adjustment limits do not have a bad range, the ability to adjust the position of the lever so that the control of the gearbox becomes sufficiently comfortable.
Of course, when you have to be driving a very long time, along with reliability and security, the question arises about the convenience of operation, and this question adds out of a whole complex of conditions. Pretty most of them, we were able to implement, based on our own experience, something simply could not foresee, and something remained not made due to the deficit of finance and time. And so, then, that we managed to implement.

Heating system. The van is heated by the heater, based on a four-row radiator UAZ, involved in two strokes, i.e. The air flow on the "VSS" fan enters one half, and with the "pressure" of the fan runs through another. The cabin is warm enough, but in the future it is planned to perform a van heating, with an external air intake, in order to take place the interior ventilation.
In the cabin, the heater from the GAZ-3307 car, made in the plastic case, based on a radiator, similar to the radiator of the car heater of classical layout. With two centrifugal fans, it does not go to any comparison with the standard heater of the UAZ, which with its "deceive" axial fan, otherwise as a supersshka, it is difficult to call as something differently.

In order for two heaters, two separate radiators nutrition loops were created mutually on the work of each other. The direct branch, the power of the cab heater, is connected via staff, i.e. from above, in the block head, over the fourth cylinder. Reverse, on the fitting, located on the body of the water pump.

The nutrition of the "stove" of the van is carried out somewhat differently. The direct branch is connected to the stacker, screwed into the lid installed behind the block head, instead of a metal plug. "Filtment", to a tee embedded in the reverse branch of the cooling radiator.
Even, in the heating system, fittings are provided for connecting the autonomous toosol heater, the heater itself is available, and checked on the stand, but not yet installed.

Car suspension. As I mentioned earlier, the brackets were additionally welded on the rear bridge, for fastening two more shock absorbers, as the salon is severe and exposed to swaying, and for the rear suspension gained 15-leaf springs.

Therefore, I will describe briefly the main change; In place of the regular, a 90-bit ampered generator and two batteries were installed (one as regular, for the operation of the car electrical equipment, the second to ensure the start-up of the toosol heater and as a power source in the country trips). The generator, large sizes than the regular, so I had to apply the belts of 1100 mm.

Lubrication. In the engine lubrication system, after running, you can pour any high-quality oil, up to synthetic, depending on climatic conditions and material condition. But it is necessary to remember that the better oil applied, the greater the "mileage" of the engine to the cap. Repair, and this is already incommensurable costs compared to the price, even if the most expensive oil itself.
The same applies to transmissions, i.e. The better oil, it will be filled into bridges and boxes, the more they "out".
But for lubrication of shrurs and hubs of the wheels, we applied specially cooked oils. In the swivel fists, a mixture of equal weight proportions was packed; Sls lubricants, Konsol and TC-P10 transmission oil.
In the wheel hubs, in the angle of the seating places, under the brake drum, and the wheel disk, the holes were drilled, with a slope, about 45 degrees, and the thread M-6 was cut, under the syringe fitting and the plug. After adjusting the bearings to dry, through these holes, inside the hub, a mixture of "Litola" and TS-P10 was pressed, the same in equal proportions.

Body, Salon

After repair. "Pile" of all sorts of impressions and information for reflection. The engine started from the first attempt and immediately earned exactly, compared to what was before repair, heaven and earth.
Transmission, at the beginning of operation, delivered some trouble. First time, the first transmission was hard. "Raced" to the distributor, in the hope of finding the weight of the centrifugal regulator of the ignition protrusion. "Shish", there was everything in order. Scratching "REPU", went to his friend, he had a daily practice and experience, he must, at least once, to face such a phenomenon.
Naturally, came across more than once. It turns out that a similar problem may appear due to several reasons:
1. In distributors of the former releases, on the housing of the vacuum regulator of the ignition advance, there was a threaded fitting. Lining the washers, between it and the spring of the vacuum automaton, it was possible to adjust the spring force, depending on the size of the vacuum, in the suction manifold. Now it is necessary to do, deforming, or rather, to say, the free external part of the hull of the vacuum regulator. (Well, what a sensible, normal driver, can come to the head.)
2. Springs, the centrifugal ignition lead regulator, weakened from time to time, and in the new, from the factory, often the tension is often not adjusted. Since there is no stand, to remove the characteristics from the distributor sensor, the springs tension adjustment, you have to do "on the scent", and most often, you have to increase the tension, only the thin spring.
3. The K-151 carburetor and its modifications are made with an autonomous idling system. This means that when the engine is running, in idle mode, the carburetor valve must be completely closed. But this is theoretically. Almost that there were no of their jealous, it is necessary to leave small pins. But only small. The accuracy, the manufacture of carburetors, is such that quite often, it is necessary to re-set the dampers along the chamber walls, often at the same time, almost completely turning the stubborn screws.
If this is not done, then through a open damper, for the fitting, designed to connect the vacuum controller of the ignition, will constantly resolve. And from here and problems, with the adjustment of the normal operation of the engine.

By eliminating the reasons that were discovered when analyzing the above, I achieved good engine operation and decided to enable the EPHX system, which for the engine debugging period was disabled. And then I was waiting for a surprise, if not to say a blow, after connecting EPHH, began to disappear to the toosol from the cooling system and "scaby" the engine, first almost unnoticed, and then more and more. And in the oil, Tosol did not arrive, even with a long parking lot of the car.
You can imagine my feelings when I made a solution to remove the new head of the block, with almost only the renovated engine.
"Eyes are afraid, the hands are doing", and after removing the head, a crack was detected in the suction channel of the first cylinder. The most interesting thing was that the crack came out not in a water shirt, but in drilling under the heel fastening head. It is necessary to take into account the fact that when assembling, in the angle between the block and studs of the fastening of the head, a silicone sealant was applied - the gasket.
After the head was removed, it was not that the sealant was not on this stud, as if it was not applied there, such a large pouring in the suction manifold, especially when the EPHX system is running.
There is nothing to do, the chanting a little, "charged" another head, no longer new, B., but in good condition, because it began to take a tongue from the new "detail", and after all and the claims do not present, the crack was discovered after several thousand kilometers of the "run" of the car after repair. The "new" head of the block turned out to be more high-quality, at least until the problems brings.
With the further operation of the car, the first chamber of the K-151 carburetor, I had to install, in the place of the stood, the main fuel gibber 225, the Zhikler 240, from the carburetor K-151, leaving the main air jaw 330 ml / min.
After eliminating all these nuances, the engine appeared "quite aggressive character", despite the fact that it is still weak for this "Sarah". And, in general, the car succeeded, I now get great pleasure from trips and satisfaction from understanding that a huge work is not done in vain.
