History of Infiniti QX56 / Infiniti QX 56

The Infiniti brand produces luxury models that Nissan produces for the North American market. The full-size QX56 SUV is an improved, more expensive, high-quality version of the Nissan Pathfinder Armada. The first public display of the Infiniti QX56 took place at the January 2004 Los Angeles Motor Show.

The car turned out to be holistic and extremely harmonious. A powerful, strong exterior design is created by a large bonnet, combined with a large chrome grille and barrel-shaped body sidewalls. The configuration of the front bumper in comparison with the Nissan Armada began to look more prestigious and solid. The fog lights were also replaced: instead of the round ones, like in the Armada, massive rectangular ones, made in the same style with the main headlights, now flaunt. To maintain its image and style, the QX56 has been fitted with striking chrome-plated wheels.

The interior of the Infiniti QX56 creates an atmosphere of cozy luxury. The dashboard with soft lighting, which the company calls Fine Vision, looks quite impressive. It is worth noting the unusual placement of the scales of secondary instruments - they surrounded the tachometer dial in a tight ring. The center console is adorned with an old-fashioned clock with hands. The steering wheel rim finish is beyond compare. Parallel to the wood there is a leather covering, so that the driver's hands will not slip on the steering wheel. The massive tailgate is electrically operated. It is enough to press a button on the instrument panel, the door will open and close by itself. It is these, discreet at first glance, nuances that form a certain chic, emphasizing the representative class of the car.

Thanks to the wide body width, the cabin comfortably accommodates eight people (2 + 3 + 3 layout), and thanks to the special design of the second and third row of seats, when folded down, an absolutely flat floor of the luggage compartment is formed.

Large seats with premium leather upholstery and Infiniti logos on the backrests provide plenty of comfort. It is noteworthy that the driver's seat received ten adjustments, and the passenger's - eight. You can also adjust the position of the pedals at your discretion. By the way, the car remembers information about the position of not only the seats and pedals, but also the rear-view mirrors.

The second row seat comes in two versions: as a regular 3-seater sofa or as a pair of separate armchairs. The legroom exceeds all expectations. And even the passengers of the most solid build will not be able to complain about the tightness - with a car width of 2 m. Moreover, each of this pair of seats has its own folding armrest in addition to a roomy pedestal between them. It won't be too cramped in the third row seats either. The headroom of their occupants is about the same as in the second row of a midsize SUV. Plus, a characteristic feature of all overseas SUVs is a lot of shelves, glove compartments and cup holders.

The Infiniti QX56 doesn't boast a long list of optional extras, as virtually everything is included as standard, including a navigation system, a Bose ten-speaker audio system and heated first and second rows. Optionally, you can order a large 20 '' LCD monitor for rear passengers, adaptive cruise control, an entertainment complex with a DVD player, a sunroof and a Smart Vision system with a rear view camera, which greatly facilitates reversing and maneuvering in confined spaces.

The Infiniti QX56 has impressive dimensions, but this does not prevent it from being a well-controlled car with sufficient mobility on the road. The electronic drive-by-wire throttle system plays a role in providing a true driving experience. Vehicle length 5.3 meters. The curb weight is about 2.5 tons. The towed trailer can weigh over four tons.

The numbers in the name of the Infiniti models indicate the engine displacement under the hood of the SUV V-shaped eight with a working volume of 5.6 liters and 315 hp. at 4900 rpm. The torque makes the QX56 one of the most powerful cars in its class. The engine is aggregated with a 5-speed electronic automatic transmission.

Most of the time, the QX56 is rear-wheel drive - this transmission mode is for clean tarmac. If necessary, you can use the 4x4 scheme. Using a switch on the front panel, the driver can select one of the three remaining modes.

- All-wheel drive for normal roads. When the rear wheels slip, the front wheels are connected. But most of the time the car remains rear-wheel drive.

- All-wheel drive for off-road. In this case, the front end is connected rigidly - this increases the cross-country ability, but on asphalt this mode cannot be used, since there is no center differential in the transmission.

- All-wheel drive for heavy off-road with the use of a downshift. Despite the frame structure, the car has independent front and rear (multi-link) suspensions with anti-roll bars.

In a word, the Infiniti QX56 is a fairly serious jeep capable of overcoming the average difficulty off-road.

QX56 received a complete set of active safety systems. The Dynamic Stability System will hedge when changing lanes and cornering, and Brake Assist and EBD will come to the rescue when braking. The creators of QX56 emphasize that all important parts of the car (gas tank, transmission elements and engine) are protected from below with special plates.

In extreme cases, passive safety devices come into play. The occupants of the first row of seats are held in place by seat belts with pretensioners, and intelligent front airbags take into account the person's weight and the length of the stretched belt. In addition to a pair of front ones, six more side airbags and curtains insure the crew of the SUV.

The premiere of the second generation QX56 took place in 2010 in New York. Unlike its predecessor, based on the Nissan Armada, the novelty is largely the same as the latest generation Patrol. Therefore, compared to its predecessor, the length has increased by 35.5 mm, the width - by 27.9 mm, and the vehicle height has decreased by 96.5 mm.

The SUV is made in the new Infiniti style. It has wavy body lines, narrowed rear and front optics. Key design features of the QX56 include a distinctive waterfall grille, High Intensity Discharge (HID) xenon headlights, LED taillights, a power sunroof and a power tailgate. The second generation Infiniti QX has a dynamic appearance. The "muscularity" of the appearance is emphasized by the powerful wheels with a rim diameter of 22 inches. The impressive size of the salon allows you to freely accommodate up to eight people. The presence of a front lower spoiler, a rear spoiler on the liftgate, as well as a redesigned exterior rear-view mirrors have reduced the drag coefficient to Cx = 0.37.

The interior is made in the best traditions of the luxury brand Infiniti. The QX56 is the class leader for second row legroom. In the basic version, the car is designed for 7 seats. For an additional fee, the car can be equipped with an optional second-row seat with a split backrest, which increases the passenger capacity of the model to eight people.

The driver's seat is electrically adjustable in 10 parameters, including the adjustment of the lumbar support in two parameters. The vehicle stores the individual settings for the position of the driver's seat, steering wheel and exterior mirrors for two drivers. The front passenger seat is also electrically adjustable in 8 parameters, including a lumbar support in two parameters.

The list of equipment, as is customary among the Japanese, is immense. The basic configuration includes the function of heating the front seats, as well as climate control of the front seats (with the possibility of heating or cooling them), with additional heating of the side seats of the 2nd row. The design of the high 2nd row seats provides easy access to the 3rd row seats. The second row seats are remotely folded using a switch on the center console, which greatly simplifies access to the rear seats. The seat of the 3rd row is sectional (60/40), with the possibility of tilting. The standard equipment also includes a heated leather steering wheel.

In addition, the list of standard equipment includes a stereo system with a hard disk, satellite navigation, a Bose audio system with 13 speakers, an 8-inch color WVGA touchscreen display, Bluetooth. A perforated leather interior and a DVD changer with 7-inch displays in the front headrests are available as options.

The Infiniti QX56 II is equipped with a 5.6 liter V8 petrol engine with a capacity of 405 hp and a maximum torque of 560 Nm. The engine is equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual gear shifting. The top speed is 210 km / h, from standstill to 100 km / h, the QX56 will accelerate in 6.5 seconds. The new transmission and engine make the SUV 10% more fuel efficient and 25% more powerful. The frame body has also become stiffer: it is 30% stronger in torsion and bending. The vehicle's ground clearance corresponds to the class: 257 mm. The SUV is available in two versions - 2WD and 4WD. Independently of the drive, the QX56 can tow trailers up to 3.8 tonnes.

The body and frame of the new 2011 Infiniti QX are more rigid than the previous QX. Significant changes have been made to the supporting structure. A new rigid structure with an increased cross-sectional width of the side members, revised connections of all longitudinal and transverse beams, increased rigidity of the passenger compartment attachment points and a special design of the rear door opening were applied.

The Infiniti QX56 is a quality, spacious and powerful vehicle equipped with a full range of advanced technologies.

The Infiniti QX56 model is one of the modern crossovers developed in Japan, but still good for Russian roads and even off-road. The manufacturer presented the first generation of the vehicle to the general public in 2004, and in Russia it became available three years later, just in time for the release of the restyled version. The letter Q in the name indicates that the car belongs to the manufacturer's line of premium models, X indicates that it is an SUV, and the numbers 56 indicate the volume of the engine.

First generation of the model

The first InfinitiQX56 has been available in showrooms in Japan, the USA and Europe since 2004. The hoods of cars of this generation had practically no stampings. The front light blocks were rectangular, and the radiator grill looked quite strict. On the front bumper there was a bell of the air intake, and at the edges - square "foglights".

Among other features of the car, you should pay attention to the elongated aft part and a straight roof with a relief surface. And also - on the rear bumper, which protrudes by as much as 300 mm beyond the edges of the body. The surface of this element is made in the form of a flat platform, which helps when stowing cargo in the trunk.

Car interior

The interior of the car looks quite expensive. The dashboard received additional indicators and soft lighting. And in its center is a classic analog clock. Other features of the interior include:

  • personal seats with leather trim, wide profile and servo-assisted, thanks to which both the driver and passengers feel comfortable during the trip. Although because of this, only 2 people are placed in the back, and not three;
  • wide armrests of each chair. They have keys that control the multimedia system and other crossover systems;
  • comfortable headrests in which additional screens of the multimedia system can be mounted;
  • 10.2-inch infotainment screen and small on-board computer display on the front.

Another feature of the second row of seats is the presence of a wide table between them, under the table top of which there is a large compartment for small items. And the last two seats are easily retracted into the floor of the luggage compartment. However, the same can be done with the middle row.

Specifications

Considering the main technical parameters of the model, you can see that it is equipped with a 5.6-liter power unit. The power of the first version of the engine is 315 hp. with. The second version of the engine, which appeared a little later, after restyling, had the same parameters, but differed in performance, which was already 325 hp. with.

All versions of the car were equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive transmission. Although under normal conditions the crossover has only rear-wheel drive - but when driving off-road, the front axle is also connected. On very bad roads, the drive becomes all-wheel drive with a low gear.

Infiniti QX56 II

In the spring of 2010, the next (and already the last) generation of the QX56 appeared on the market. The premium SUV was built on the basis of another model - Nissan Patrol Y62 2011. The car was produced for three years. However, in 2013, the series was renamed QX80 - since that time, Infiniti does not name its cars not by engine volume.

Exterior

The exterior of the vehicle has changed markedly. The more modern version of the Ku X 56 has fewer straight and harsh lines. The differences also lie in the new shape of the bi-xenon headlights and the radiator grille.

The camera is located inside the front emblem. And in the air intake there is a radar that determines the distance to the obstacle. The dimensions of the rims in the top-end configuration are 22 inches, which fully corresponds to the huge wheel arches of the car. And the holes in the front fenders provide good aerodynamics of the vehicle.

Salon and equipment

Second generation salon InfinitiQX56 can be seven or eight. Moreover, the front row has both heating and ventilation. And the third one can be made in the form of two armchairs or one wide sofa, which makes it possible to accommodate one more person.

Model characteristics

The only one available for InfinitiQX56 2010 model year, the engine, as before, is a 5.6-liter power unit - with only one version, with a capacity of 405 horsepower. With the help of such a powerful engine, the car accelerates to 210 km / h, although it consumes as much as 14.5 liters of fuel. However, compared to the previous version, gasoline consumption has decreased by an average of 10 percent.

It should be noted that the new QX 56 model has grown in length and width, although it has decreased in height. The ground clearance has slightly decreased - although the new 257 mm is quite enough for trips on bad roads. In the basic configuration, the crossover is equipped with 20-inch wheels, although every buyer had the opportunity to order 22-inch wheels.

To the world and domestic market model InfinitiQX56 It was supplied in 4 trim levels - in two conventional ones, differing in the number of seats (7 or 8), and two Hi-Tech, the difference in which was also determined by the seats. The cheaper versions at that time (now the cost of all modifications in the secondary market is about the same - and depends more on the condition of the car than on the year of manufacture and equipment) were equipped with security systems, driver's seat adjustments, heated steering wheel and a rear-view camera. The Hi-Tech version featured cruise control and collision avoidance, emergency braking and lane keeping systems.

Pros and cons of QX56

Most of the reviews left about the car can be called positive. Users of the QX56 model note its good dynamics, smooth ride, excellent handling and spacious interior. Motorists consider the large luggage compartment to be no less important, the dimensions of which are even more impressive when the seats are folded. Among the shortcomings, there is relatively little knee space for passengers in the last row, low visibility and not very effective brakes.

Infiniti QX56 car review updated: August 30, 2017 by the author: dimajp

Probably, in the company of full-size SUVs similar to it, it is the Infiniti QX56 that looks the most striking. Its unusual design only emphasizes the size of the car, making it really noticeable and impressive.

The Infiniti QX56 is the flagship of the Infiniti clan, and the company has made special bets on this SUV. The previous model, although its dimensions could not fail to inspire respect, did not have the luxury and beauty of the novelty. So during the development and production of the third generation of cars, the Japanese tried in earnest, creating, in fact, a completely new car.

At first, the model was produced in Japan, because Japanese cars have always been highly regarded. The basis for building a new generation was seriously improved: its structure was made more rigid due to an increase in the width of the spar sections and a more perfect articulation of frame beams. The interior mount was also made more rigid.

The innovative design of the filler allows to achieve a high coefficient of the so-called drag.

Rough body lines have changed to more streamlined and smooth. The radiator grille is in harmony with the overall appearance of the car much better than that of the previous generation. In addition, in this model, Japanese designers used updated headlights with a low profile. Similar front optics have already been used in the second generation of the Infiniti QX.

In the photo, the SUV looks voluminous and even somewhat awkward, but in reality it looks truly bewitching and luxurious.

The car interior is striking in splendor. The campaign representatives compare it to the salon of a magnificent business jet - and indeed, you can't argue with that. The seats in the saloon are covered with perforated leather, soft and delicate, they are heated and ventilated. The steering wheel made of wood and leather is adjustable in two planes and is heated. The center console is also finished in wood. There are also metal elements in the interior of the SUV.

In the most charged configuration, the car is equipped in the back with two seats for VIPs, divided by a massive box. There is a lot of space here. There is a block for controlling the microclimate, as well as cup holders and heating. Rear passengers can while away the time watching movies and listening to music, as the headrests of the passengers' seats in front have built-in multimedia displays and excellent sound transmitted through 13 speakers.

The third, rear row can be accessed by folding the second row seats at the push of a button. The rear can accommodate three passengers, but it will be more convenient for two.

The seats can also be folded at the touch of a button directly from the trunk. The space will immediately increase, and there will be a flat floor under your feet. The fifth door is equipped with an electric drive, and it only opens completely.

A new engine is installed under the hood of the huge SUV. Its displacement will remain the same, but the number of cylinders has increased to eight, and the engine power - from 325 to 405 hp. At the same time, the engine is much more economical than its predecessor. The motor operates in tandem with an automatic 7-speed gearbox with a lockable transformer, thereby reducing fuel consumption and improving acceleration performance.

Affected innovations and suspension. The new generation Infinity QX56 does not have a rear axle - it is equipped with an independent suspension, complete with pneumatic elements that continuously support the ride height. The Hydraulic Body Motion Control also functions - an original hydraulic system designed to eliminate roll.

At idle, the engine runs surprisingly smoothly and quietly, and only at 3000 rpm will you hear a pleasant rumbling. Acceleration of the car to one hundred kilometers occurs with amazing ease in some 6.5 seconds, and the highest available speed is 210 km / x.

Car safety is of great importance. The new Infiniti can be equipped with blind spot tracking, collision avoidance, cruise control, and the basic equipment already includes the function of switching to low beam from high and back and cameras for all-round view.

Read about the technical characteristics of other crossovers. On our website, you can also familiarize yourself with the operating experience of the infinity fx35. Details in this article.

On the road, the car is very comfortable. The suspension literally "swallows" all the unevenness of the track. The all-wheel drive system in the new car has not changed compared to its predecessor. Attention, as before, is focused mainly on the rear axle, while half of the energy is transferred to the front axle.

Entry into curbs, with the undeniably spectacular 22-inch wheels and low-profile tires, must be handled with some caution. So a luxury car will not be able to cope with heavy off-road conditions.

Infiniti QX56 Price

The amount that will have to pay for the brand new Infiniti QX56 2015 starts at 4,608,500 rubles. In the maximum configuration (Hi-Tech), the SUV will cost a potential buyer 4,754,000 rubles.

The cost of such a large SUV with a rich set of options is quite justified. This car is luxurious and high-status, and its comfort and reliability are quite matched to the price.

Among the large SUVs, it was the Infiniti QX56 that managed to win the attention of our compatriots, and the demand for this car is still not falling. This is largely due to the fact that this model leaves behind an ambiguous impression, given the very large dimensions and emphasized clear lines in the design.

Infiniti QX56 took the lead of the company's clan, because the manufacturer made special bets on this model. As a result, the car turned out to be really chic and flawless, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about the previous versions. The predecessors had impressive dimensions and recognizability, but, despite this, they did not inspire the luxury that the novelty is distinguished by. During the development of the second generation, the Japanese paid special attention to power and spaciousness, so the result was a completely new car that only remotely resembled previously released models.

Initially, the production of cars was carried out in Japan and for good reason. SUVs of this state have always been appreciated all over the world and enjoyed immense popularity. The base used to create this generation has been thoroughly refined and the best confirmation of this is the technical characteristics of the model. The use of a new injected design allowed the creators to increase the drag coefficient. In addition, even when traveling at high speed, the body is minimally affected.

SUV engine

One of the most important advantages of the model is that a completely new engine is installed under the hood of the SUV. Its displacement remained unchanged (5.6 liters), but the number of cylinders was increased to 8. This made it possible to increase the efficiency and power of work. It is also important that the engine absorbs much less fuel, if we draw an analogy with previous models. To increase the performance, the manufacturer has introduced a system that allows you to adjust the valve timing and valve opening degree. The power plant works in combination with a state-of-the-art seven-speed gearbox. The usefulness of this transmission is obvious, because the acceleration process has been significantly simplified, and fuel consumption has become much more economical thanks to short gears. Even in the cold season, the transmission provides heating of the fuel resource, which also affects consumption.

Without innovations, as the description says, the pendants did not remain. The Infiniti QX56 does not have a rear axle due to the presence of an independent suspension, consisting of pneumatic elements that are responsible for maintaining ground clearance.

Spaciousness of the cabin

Despite the fact that this SUV looks impressive in the photo, in real life the dimensions of the car are even larger. In order to cope with its management, the driver will need considerable experience and skills. Of course, the presence of the Around View Monitor camera will facilitate the process, but during rains and slush it will be necessary to keep it clean. Not everyone will like the appearance of the model, but its design will certainly be remembered. The clarity of the lines and large parameters make it possible to compare the SUV with a whale, the styling of the chrome-finished body adds showiness and luxury. Modest drivers are unlikely to appreciate the fact that the car will immediately declare their status. The white leather interior is even more luxurious.

It is safe to say that the car has the maximum configuration, as well as a seven-seater saloon. The designers installed two VIP-chairs, which are separated by a massive box. This solution provides additional space and convenience for passengers. If necessary, the driver can control the microclimate and heating system (for seats 1 and 2 rows). The cabin has thirteen speakers, two of which operate at low frequencies.

If desired, you can connect a set-top box or enjoy watching movies. In addition, the infiniti qx56 has a third row where two passengers can travel comfortably. The second row seats can be quickly folded using a button directly from the luggage compartment. The fifth door has an electric drive that allows it to open fully.

Handling is the strong point of the Japanese SUV

The infiniti qx56 off-road vehicle is powerful, which allows the owner to get an impressive dose of adrenaline while driving. Only on a slippery road is it necessary to control skids with special care in order to avoid a traffic accident. To get a feel for all the maneuverability of the car, it is recommended to choose wide and empty tracks.

Of course, the advantage of this model is that it is endowed with excellent sound and vibration isolation. Therefore, you will be able to completely isolate yourself from the outside world, not only due to its large dimensions. Compared to other SUVs that have the same characteristics as the Infiniti qx56, the car seems like a beast against the background of insects. Finally, we can say that the car has a really huge number of functions. Tracking markup cannot be overlooked. But this option will be active only when the strip is smooth and even, otherwise the scanner will simply not be able to detect it.

SUV price

Regarding the cost, we can say that this car is well worth the money, especially when you take into account the large dimensions, as well as technical characteristics. A significant drawback is that the car is somewhat pompous and pretentious in terms of design, and also has a large weight (more than 2.5 tons). In short, an ideal option for people who want to emphasize their status and wealth.
