Body clearances and dimensions of the Ford Kuga 2 / Escape since 2012. Dimensions ford kuga 2

After analyzing global trends in the automotive industry and sales statistics, we can conclude that today crossovers are extremely popular. This is not surprising, since such a car can be used for city driving or for country trips. The advantage of the crossover is that it has a large enough size for comfortable movement of 5 - 7 people, while the size of the trunk allows you to carry a large number of things. The dimensions of the Ford Kuga fully correspond to the parameters of the top-end crossover: technical characteristics, trunk volume, ground clearance.

Depending on the size, the following types of crossovers are distinguished:

  • Mini.
  • Small size.
  • Compact.
  • Medium-sized.
  • Fullsize.

One of the most striking representatives of the compact crossover segment is the 2014-2017 Ford Kuga, which has a modern design, chic appearance and excellent technical characteristics.

The advantage of the Ford Kuga crossover over sedans, station wagons and hatchbacks is the following:

  • All-wheel drive (in some trim levels).
  • Spacious interior space.
  • High waist.
  • High ground clearance.

Moreover, the peculiarity of such a car is that it can easily move on light off-road, cope with bad roads without problems, etc. At the same time, it has good handling and economy, which huge SUVs cannot boast of. This is achieved due to the fact that the crossover has a passenger car platform, but increased dimensions.

For the first time, the Ford Kuga car appeared in 2008 and immediately conquered consumers with its parameters and appearance. The latest generation of the crossover was introduced in 2013. To date, the sales figures of the model show good results, and the interest of motorists in the car is constantly growing. In many ways, this became possible due to the aggressive and memorable appearance.

The latest generation of the crossover has become more solid, with enlarged windows, narrow headlights and wide wheel arches. The front end appears to be square, as there are no smooth lines in the transition to the windshield. We'll discuss the dimensions later, but let's say in advance that they are impressive for this segment.

Dimensions and dimensions

Ford Kuga 2014 - 2017 release has a fairly large size for its class. In general, it is closer to a sedan than an SUV, and therefore you should not expect a huge volume. The overall dimensions of the car allow you to comfortably transport passengers and personal belongings. By the way, the trunk with the rear seats folded down is only 456 liters, however, if you fold them down, we get 1653 liters of space, which is already quite serious. Moreover, the length of the car of more than 4 meters (4524 cm, to be exact) allows you to transport bulky items, some building materials, etc. The dimensions of the Ford Kuga allow it to be used in many ways, and therefore such a crossover can rightfully be called universal both for daily trips around the city and for transportation.

Vehicle weight can vary from 1,580 to 1,707 kg, depending on the specific configuration and equipment set. Carrying capacity is pretty good and is around 520 kg. The standard number of seats in the car is 5, and all passengers can be accommodated quite comfortably, since the rear sofa is more comfortable than on sedans or hatchbacks. You will also be pleased with the ground clearance - 197 cm, and therefore if you often drive on bad roads, then you will appreciate this indicator.

As for the rest of the parameters, the 2014-2017 Ford Kuga has the following dimensions:

  • Width - 1838cm.
  • Height - 1745 cm.
  • The back track is 1565 cm.
  • The front track is 1563 cm.
  • The wheelbase is 2690 cm.

If we analyze the size of our today's hero and his competitors in class, then we can safely say that the crossover from the Ford company is in no way inferior, and in some positions it is significantly superior to them. Therefore, if you need a good compact car for every day, but size is also important, then pay attention to this model. Moreover, the interior of the car is also pretty good, and this is what we will talk about further.

Salon and its features

Generally speaking, the dimensions of the Ford Kuga cabin make it possible to comfortably accommodate not only the driver, but also all of his passengers. Three adults can comfortably fit in the back seat, and they will not feel constrained or limited. Long journeys over long distances will not be a problem either.

This is achieved not only due to the total internal volume, but also due to comfortable seats, especially the two front ones, equipped with good lateral support. They have a large number of different adjustments, and therefore everyone can customize them for themselves, taking into account the build and personal preferences. As for the rear row of seats, it is also quite advanced and allows you to adjust the position of the backrest.

The interior design of the Ford Kuga was clearly copied from the Focus model, while there are still some features. The center panel has a large number of buttons that create a cluttered effect. However, over time you get used to them, and there are no problems with their use.

A pleasant option is the contactless opening of the trunk, when you just need to raise your hand and a special sensor is triggered.

Ford Kuga: characteristics and dimensions

Ford Kuga 2 for its not very long history has managed to win the hearts of millions of motorists from all over the world. Ford Kuga is indeed a very decent car, which is so easy to use that it is suitable not only for brutal men, but also for fragile girls. Despite the fact that the Ford Kuga is a crossover with impressive dimensions, the Ford Kuga is more like a sedan in terms of ease of management. The car turned out to be very spacious and comfortable. The overall dimensions of the Ford Kuga are designed so that two, or even three adults can freely fit in the back seat, and they are not at all cramped. This is where the car developers should be given credit. By the way, the salon of the first generation of Kuga was not the most comfortable. Car owners often complained that passengers were very cramped in the rear seats. In the second generation Kuga, this defect was corrected, due to the fact that the dimensions of the ford kuga were slightly increased.

Ford Kuga: body and trunk dimensions

Compared to the first generation Ford Kuga, the overall dimensions of which have repeatedly caused criticism from the owners, the Ford Kuga 2 has slightly changed its dimensions. First of all, the changes affected the length of the car. To be more precise, the length of the Kuga has increased by 81 mm, and now is 4443 mm. The width of the car remains the same: 1842 mm. The same applies to the height of the vehicle. The height of the Ford Kuga without railing is 1677mm, and 1710mm with railing. The trunk of the Ford Kuga car deserves special attention. The trunk volume is 360 liters. Such a trunk will be very convenient for people who very often leave the city with their families. Thus, in the Ford Kuga, the size of the trunk is a definite plus for long-distance travel. You no longer have to choose what to take with you and what to leave at home. By the way, the spare wheel is in the same place, in the trunk.

As for the mass, the Ford Kuga car is by no means light. Vehicle weight varies depending on model and equipment. So the weight of the Ford Kuga 2.0 Duratorq TDCi, FWD in the basic configuration is 2060 kg. 2.0 Duratorq TDCi, AWD is slightly heavier as standard. Its weight is 2130 kg.

So, let's name all the dimensions of the Ford Kuga in numerical values:

  • Length - 4443 mm
  • Width (without mirrors) - 1842 mm
  • Height without roof rails - 1677 mm
  • Height with rails - 1710 mm
  • Wheelbase - 2690 mm
  • Front track - 1574-1580 mm
  • Back track - 1584-1590 mm
  • Ground clearance (clearance) - 195 mm
  • Luggage compartment volume (5-seater version) - 360 l
  • Luggage compartment volume (2-seater) - 1355 L

If we compare this car with crossovers of other brands, then the Ford Kuga dimensions are not the most impressive, therefore it is easy and pleasant to drive a car, as evidenced by the rave reviews from the owners of Ford Kuga.

Ford Kuga specifications - engines, fuel consumption, four-wheel drive

The compact SUV Ford Kuga of the 2nd generation, which entered the Russian market in March 2013, is built on a modified platform Ford Focus 3. So, almost all the suspension elements of the crossover are "their own", at the same time, the chassis configuration is familiar: in front - MacPherson struts, behind - a multi-link. Ford engineers have endowed the Kugu with a proprietary plug-in all-wheel drive system called Active Torque Coupling. This scheme is based on a basic front drive and a rear axle coupled with a multi-plate clutch. Maximum backward is sent up to 50% of the torque, and the exact dosage is determined by the control unit, which takes into account the readings of many sensors. A feature of this 4WD system, which is also used on the Ford Explorer, is that it engages the rear axle at the moment it considers necessary, without waiting for slippage.

The range of engines of the Russian Ford Kuga, assembled in Tatarstan, has undergone changes more than once during its presence on the market. Today, the crossover has the following gasoline engines:

  • 2.5 Duratec 150 hp, 230 Nm - a classic, time-tested "atmospheric" Japanese design.
  • 1.6 EcoBoost 150 HP, 240 Nm - turbo engine with direct injection and phase change system on both shafts.
  • 1.6 EcoBoost 182 hp, 240 Nm - analog of a 150-horsepower turbo unit with other program settings. It has increased power and a wider torque range of 1600-5000 rpm (for a 150 hp engine, the upper limit is at 4000 rpm).

From the start of sales in the arsenal of the SUV there was a Duratorq 2.0 diesel unit with a return of 140 hp. and a torque of 320 Nm. Subsequently, the motor fell out of the range of available power plants.

Two types of gearboxes were assigned to the Ford Kuga engines - a 6-speed "mechanics" and a 6-band "automatic" with the factory index 6F35. The manual transmission is designed only for the 1.6 EcoBoost "turbo four" 150 hp, while the automatic is combined with any of the engines. The version with a 2.5-liter "aspirated" is available only in a front-wheel drive configuration.

In terms of fuel economy, the latest EcoBoost motors look a little more preferable. The front-wheel drive version with 6MKPP stands out, consuming about 6.8 l / 100 km in the combined cycle. The fuel consumption of Ford Kuga 2.5 according to the passport is 8.1 liters.

The compact crossover of the second Ford Kuga model of the 2012-2013 model year was presented to Russian auto journalists and all interested visitors of the exhibition as part of the MIAS 2012 in Moscow. Earlier in the spring, the European premiere of the SUV took place at the Geneva Motor Show.

More new business class cars:

The hero of our review, following the third Ford Focus, is becoming a global model and will be sold in 140 countries with the same exterior and interior. But the American version of Ford Kuga 2, traditionally for North America, will receive a different name - Escape. Sales of the new generation Ford Kuga will start in European countries in mid-autumn 2012, and Russians will have to wait until March 2013. The crossover for Russia will be produced in Tatarstan at the facilities of the Ford Sollers enterprise.

New body - design and dimensions

The front part of the crossover with an aggressively sporty bumper of "adult" size, stylish headlights with LED strips, a hood with bright longitudinal stampings. The bumper received a three-section air intake in the Focus 3 style with characteristic aerodynamic elements and stylish, elongated fog lights combined into one block with turn signals.

The profile view of the crossover demonstrates greater harmony due to the increased size of the rear end of the body. The increase in length compared to the previous generation is more than 80 mm. When viewed from the side, the new body of the Ford Kuga 2013 looks amazing: a dropping hood, a heavily piled back front pillar, a neat stern, a soft roofline.

The sides of the body seem to be saturated with energy, which is bursting outward forming powerful ribs and punching, swelling of wheel arches, capable of placing rubber on alloy wheels with new types of patterns.
The rear of the car with a large tailgate, faceted headlights for side lights, a compact bumper with a diffuser integrated into its surface and a pair of exhaust pipes. The entire lower part of the body around the perimeter is generously covered with unpainted plastic.

At the end of the description of the appearance, we will indicate dimensions bodies Ford Kuga 2013:

  • Length - 4524 mm, width - 1842 mm, height - 1745 mm, wheelbase - 2690 mm.
  • Ground clearance above the canvas ( clearance) - 198mm.
  • Tire sizes 235 / 55R17, 235 / 50R18 and even 235 / 45R19, wheel size R17-19.

Salon - content and build quality

The interior of the new Kuga crossover demonstrates almost complete correspondence with the interior of the third Focus. Owners who have moved from the hatchback behind the wheel of a crossover will feel at home, a comfortable steering wheel with a lot of setting buttons, a stylish "tidy" with informative dials and a color screen of the on-board computer, a massive front panel with music, climate blocks and a high-mounted gearbox "knob" ...

The front row seats are well-formed, with characteristic lateral bolsters, thanks to the wide range of adjustments, the optimal driving position is easy to find.
In the second row, there is a shortage of seats, it will be comfortable for two not very tall passengers, the pillow is molded for two seats, and the high transmission tunnel does not facilitate the placement of the third passenger. The backrest can change the angle of inclination, the transformation of the rear row allows you to form a flat cargo area.
The trunk volume of a crossover with five passengers can accommodate 456 liters of cargo; when the rear seats are folded, the trunk allows you to load all 1653 liters under the ceiling. The fifth door received an electric drive and the ability to open without using hands, just wave your foot under the rear bumper and the door will rise. But it lost the ability to open only the upper part with glass, now the huge door always opens completely.
The second Ford Kuga can be equipped with Active Park Assist (self-parking), automatic braking systems and emergency response in the event of an accident, panoramic roof with a sunroof, leather seat upholstery, advanced music with an 8-inch screen, rear view camera, navigator ...

Specifications and test

The suspension of the Ford Kuga 2 crossover is completely independent with MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link in the rear, electric power steering with variable characteristics. Four-wheel drive with Haldex clutch (electronic control) and a host of other electronic assistants that ensure stable behavior on the road.
From the start of sales, the SUV will be equipped with two diesels and a pair of gasoline engines:

  • diesel- two-liter TDCi (140 hp or 163 hp),
  • Gas engine- new 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbocharged (150 hp and 182 hp).

The default transmission is six-speed manual, as an option - a 6-speed Power Shift robot with double clutch.

The new Ford Kuga 2 demonstrates stable and confident behavior on the paved road, the short-travel and knocked down suspension does an excellent job with its functions. The test drive shows minimal rolls, stability at high speed, confident cornering.
Before light off-road terrain, the crossover will also not save, ingenious electronics to the last will help the wheels to look for an opportunity to pull the SUV out of the mud or sand.
Are you wondering how much the second Ford Kuga 2012-2013 will cost in Russia? We will get the answer to the question in January-March 2013, when the crossover will be assembled in Yelabuga and its cost will be announced. According to official information, the price for Russian motorists for the new Ford Kuga will start at 899 thousand rubles for a crossover with a 150 horsepower engine, 5 manual transmissions and front-wheel drive in the Trend configuration, four-wheel drive will raise the price to 1,099 thousand rubles. With a powerful gasoline engine producing 182 horsepower, the new Ford Kuga will cost from 1,258 thousand rubles, and with a 140-horsepower diesel engine from 1,308 thousand rubles, these versions are by default with all-wheel drive and automatic.

The first generation of an urban crossover from the German division of Ford, released in 2008, was perceived by consumers rather restrainedly, the car did not become a bestseller. The reasons can be searched and disassembled for a long time, but we will not do this, since all this has already been done by the manufacturer himself, who has thoroughly studied all his shortcomings and tried to fix them when creating the second generation Ford Kuga 2013 model year.

Dimensions Ford Kuga 2013

To begin with, consider the overall characteristics of the 2013 Ford Kuga. The updated SUV began to look more mature and aggressive, which was facilitated not only by the modernization of the head optics, bumper and radiator grille, but also by the change in the dimensions of the car. So, with the same wheelbase as the previous generation, equal to 2690 mm, the second generation crossover became 81 mm longer (up to 4524 mm), but at the same time it became 8 mm narrower (1702 mm) and 4 mm lower (1838 mm). At the 2013 Ford Kuga, the ground clearance has increased by 10 mm and is now an impressive 198 mm.

The 2013 Ford Kuga also offers a more spacious luggage compartment compared to the previous generation (it has increased by 46 liters to 456 liters, and with the rear seats folded down - as much as 1653 liters), which is equipped not only with an electric door, but also with the unique Hands system Free. You don't have to get your hands or shoes dirty to open the boot - just slide your foot under the rear bumper. It is worth noting that even adhered dirt or snow does not interfere with the operation of the sensor installed there.

Engines and transmissions Ford Kuga 2013

The range of power units installed on the new crossover consists of two gasoline and two diesel engines, in the development of which the engineers paid special attention to the issue of efficiency.

Gasoline engines belong to the family of modern Ford EcoBoost engines, equipped with turbochargers, direct fuel injection systems and variable valve timing systems:

  • The 150-horsepower 1.6-liter power unit has a maximum torque of 240 Nm and is capable of accelerating the crossover to 100 km / h in 9.7 seconds at a top speed of 195 km / h. Fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is 8.3 liters in cities and 5.6 liters outside. True, these indicators are typical for a mono-drive version with a manual transmission. With the same engine, but with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, the 2013 Ford Kuga technical characteristics are as follows: acceleration to hundreds - 10.7 seconds; the maximum speed, limited by electronics, - 192 km / h; fuel consumption when moving around the city - 10.2 liters per 100 kilometers, on the highway - 6.3 liters;
  • The 182-horsepower 1.6-liter engine has a maximum torque of 240 Nm and accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 9.7 seconds, and the maximum speed it can reach is 200 km / h. Fuel consumption in a metropolis reaches 10.2 liters per 100 kilometers, and outside it is reduced to 6.3 liters.

Diesel engines belong to the proprietary family of turbocharged engines Duratorq TDCi:

  • The 140-horsepower 2.0-liter power unit develops a maximum torque of 320 Nm and can reach speeds of up to 187 km / h, providing acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.2 seconds. Fuel consumption when moving around the city is 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers, on the highway - 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers;
  • The 163-horsepower 2.0-liter engine has a maximum torque of 340 Nm and propels the 2013 Ford Kuga crossover to 100 km / h in 10.4 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 196 km / h. Fuel consumption in the city is about 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers, outside the city - 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

Gasoline power units are paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, for diesel engines either the same manual transmission or a robotic PowerShift is provided.

Innovative solutions in the Ford Kuga 2013

To begin with, we note the PowerShift robotic gearbox, which is able to pre-select the next gear, minimizing the loss of power and speed when shifting. The extremely fast and smooth shifting from one gear to the next makes driving an incredibly pleasant driving experience, as well as providing significant fuel savings and reduced emissions. At the same time, the intelligent system itself selects the optimal gear, depending on the current situation. For example, when overtaking, it can downshift, which provides more power for faster acceleration and ensures a safe end of the maneuver.

When operating a Ford Kuga crossover with a manual transmission, the gearshift indicator located on the dashboard can be extremely useful. It determines the optimal moment to shift into the next gear, making travel by car more economical.

Another innovative fuel-saving system is called Ford Eco Mode. It takes into account the speed at which the vehicle is moving, the gears used most often, the braking behavior, the duration of the trips and other factors, on the basis of which it gives advice on how to reduce fuel consumption in accordance with the driving style of the particular driver.

The intelligent all-wheel drive system, which the new 2013 model year Ford Kuga is equipped with, manages to assess the situation on the road twenty times in the period of time that a person needs to blink an eye. At the same time, there is a constant redistribution of torque between the wheels to ensure optimal handling and maximum grip on the road surface. It should be noted that the system is activated only when it is really necessary, therefore, on relatively flat and straight sections of the road, the crossover actually drives in front-wheel drive mode, due to which it is possible to achieve significant fuel savings.

Curve Control systems also provide invaluable assistance to the driver, which compares the actual speed of the vehicle with the desired one at a specific turning point and corrects it in case of deviation from the norm. This is done based on information received from sensors for vehicle speed, lateral roll, lateral acceleration, wheel speed and steering angle. All data is analyzed a hundred times every second, and if the trajectory is incorrect, Curve Control begins to correct it by braking each of the wheels separately, applying different braking forces to them. When entering a corner at too high a speed, this system is capable of dropping about 16 km / h every second.

Ford engineers have worked hard to reduce road and wind noise, as a result of which the second generation Kuga's interior can safely claim to be one of the quietest in its class. This was achieved through the use of a special aerodynamic design of the side mirrors, stiffer door frames, new seals, thicker glasses and modernization of chassis components. A special ClimAir deflector also helps to eliminate noise and turbulence, which makes it possible not to close the windows on the front doors even in the rain.

We also note that each configuration of the Kuga car is distinguished by a high degree of safety. The novelty is fully equipped. The cabin provides as many as 7 airbags, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, as well as three-point belts. And this is not surprising, because in the Euro NCAP tests, the crossover received five stars for safety.

In addition to the presented Ford Kuga 2013 photos, you can also watch a video with a test drive of this car:

Quick jump to sections

The updated Ford Kuga has changed the shape of the hood, the headlights and the radiator grill have become slightly different. The rear lights have changed the shape of the sections, which may be important for fans of the model, but this, of course, did not affect the technical characteristics of the restyled Ford Kuga. The main changes that have occurred in the car relate to its electronic filling.

Like others, Kuga is equipped with a turbo engine of the EcoBoost family, in this case, its volume is 1.5 liters, and the power is 182 hp, as well as an automatic transmission. This is the option that is sold in Russia. If Ford cars have enemies, then they do not like it lately, first of all, for the interior design solution. Indeed, the center console is made in such a way that it literally runs into the driver. But the dashboard cannot but please. The steering wheel is grippy, quite comfortable and easily adjustable because it is adjustable in two directions, and the devices can be called sports at all. At Kug they are the same as at the "Focus", sunk in two wells.

Interior innovations

A new control unit appeared on the steering wheel, thanks to which the new Ford Kuga received adaptive cruise control and the ability to track the lane. Moreover, the car can even steer a little if the driver is distracted and does not closely follow the lane.

Video: new Kuga on the road

The center console of the new Ford Kuga now has a full-fledged large screen and a modern multimedia system Sync 3 with voice control. The navigation system and maps are in Russian. The screen is touch-sensitive, however, individual functions can be operated using buttons. Not without "relics of the past" - on the center console, temperature indicators, as before, are green. A clear tribute to tradition, indicating that this is an American car.

Ford Kuga captivates with huge space for rear passengers. Even with the front seat pushed back, there is plenty of knee space. There is no tunnel under the feet of the passenger sitting in the center of the second row, which means that the three of us will be comfortable sitting on the back sofa. In addition, the rear passengers have an adjustable backrest tilt, armrest and door pockets. An interesting detail: the glass in the rear doors goes down to the very bottom, which is not found on all cars. This is another reason why young families choose the new Ford Kuga. If you add a few more fashion options to it and slightly freshen up the design, then the car will sell even better.

Dimensions and other dimensions of Ford Kuga:

  • Length: 4524 mm;
  • Width: 2077 mm, with mirrors folded 1838 mm;
  • Height: 1689 mm, with roof rails 1703 mm;
  • Wheelbase: 2690 mm;
  • Turning circle: 11.1 m;
  • Fuel tank volume: 60 liters;
  • Trunk volume: 484 liters, with the rear seats down, 1653 liters.

Overhangs and clearance allow

When a crossover is bought, especially an all-wheel drive one, its owner wants to believe that his car will be able to drive at least moderate off-road conditions. For this, the Ford Kuga has the prerequisites. In particular, its overhangs are short, so that during a test drive the car moved without problems over hilly fields.

The curious thing is. Any modern crossover is full of various electronic assistants. In particular, an assistant when descending the mountain today is, it would seem, on every crossover. Alas, for some reason it was not on the updated Ford Kuga. I had to go down the old fashioned way, that is, on the brakes. It's not scary on a dry hillock, but when you have to drive down slippery slopes, the electronic assistant would even come in handy.

Another question is to what extent the new Kuga is suitable for driving to the top of one or another hill. On the first Kugahs there was a Haldex clutch, but then Ford decided to save money and began to independently develop all-wheel drive systems. They coped with the task and their system works well. The only question is: why does it not have a clutch lock button so that, if necessary, the driver could force the all-wheel drive to be permanent? By the way, there is no disabling the ESP system here, and off-road it helps a lot.

Nevertheless, the new Ford Kuga is capable of conquering the roller coaster well. Still, his motor is good, and besides, it works in tandem with a real machine. The car easily enters the top of any hillock. In places where the car is suspended, the traction control system is activated, the torque is transferred to the wheels that have traction with the ground, and the car successfully drives up.

About steering

What motorists have always liked the Ford Kuga is handling. The new Ford Kuga has retained this dignity and the restyled model is still unmatched. This is especially felt on the version where a full-fledged automatic machine acts as a checkpoint. its presence is especially valuable off-road, but it also demonstrates its advantages well on asphalt. The box does everything it needs quickly enough, especially in Sport mode.

However, a different feature appears in the sport mode. Sitting down in the car with the usual movement, you switch the selector lever down and immediately enter the Sport mode, and the fuel consumption in this mode is such that it easily reaches the level of 16 liters. However, the sport mode itself is wonderful. It also has an instant response to pressing the pedal, there is also a pick-up, but the emptying of the gas tank occurs at an alarming rate. However, as soon as the lever is shifted up, the mode will change to the usual "Drive", after which the character of the car changes significantly. The pickup is no longer the same, but the fuel consumption is reduced to 12 liters "per hundred" of the run.

Overview of the disadvantages of the Ford Kuga

One of the main features of the updated Ford Kuga is the new multimedia Sync 3. There are no questions for its large screen, but now its new map is very difficult to understand. In particular, if you want to return to the main menu from the navigation, it is rather difficult to do this.

By the way, in the multimedia system, Traction Control was also disabled, which I wanted to do, but failed during a test drive off-road. The fact is that in most cars this disconnection is very simple: by pressing a single button. You couldn't think of it better. For example, while driving, when the driver sees that there is dirt in front of him. In this case, he presses the desired button and the ESP system is instantly deactivated. As soon as the dirt is left behind, the driver activates the system using the same button.

On the new Kuga, this functionality is much more complicated. The owner of the crossover has to climb into the menu, make five or six movements there before he gets to the desired option, and only after that he will be able to turn off the stabilization system. Why are there such difficulties?

Under the hood of the new Kuga

In Russia, a Ford Kuga is sold with an EcoBust gasoline engine with a volume of one and a half liters and a capacity of 180 hp. There is also a second motor - this is a well-known, time-tested aspirated engine. its working volume is 2.5 liters, and the power is 150 hp. It works in tandem with a machine gun. Why is this motor good? It is, of course, much more reliable, since it does not have a turbine. On the other hand, while driving, he is very slow and the car, as they say, does not go with him. If there is EcoBoost under the hood, the dynamics of the car is completely different.

Two versions of the new Ford Kuga:

  • Engine: EcoBoost, displacement 1.5 liters, turbocharged, power 182 hp, torque 240 Nm. Drive: either full or front, gearbox: 6-speed automatic.
  • Engine: gasoline aspirated, displacement 2.5 liters, power 150 hp Drive: front only.

Options and prices

The test drive showed that the updated Ford Kuga has changed, in general, not much, which has twofold consequences. With one of them, the good thing is that the car's handling and its cross-country ability have been preserved. On the other hand, some electronic chips of the updated model will not really appeal to future owners. Although, of course, the decisive factor, as usual, will be the price. It is hoped that Ford's flexible pricing policy for the new Kuga will continue. By the way, the following question may arise: where is the Ford Kuga assembled? In Yelabuga, where the Russian plant of the Ford company is located.

The novelty is offered in four levels of equipment:

  1. 1,379 million rubles. there is a restyled version of the Kuga in the Trend version. This is the basic configuration, and therefore it is not worth waiting for it much. Under the hood there will be a 2.5-liter engine, and the drive will only go to the front axle. However, the crossover will have both ESP and ABS, which has become mandatory today. The driver will have a range of assistants designed for situations such as emergency braking and starting off on an incline. Moreover, the electronics will help the driver to control traction in corners, as well as prevent possible rollover on tight bends.
  2. Trend Plus will be slightly better at a price of 1,469 million rubles. Here the buyer will receive a car with a turbocharged EcoBoost, and most importantly, he will have the opportunity to choose the type of drive: either front or full.
  3. Next comes the Titanium package with a price tag starting at 1.559 million rubles. Anyone who buys such a version will have the opportunity to choose an engine: either a good old aspirated engine, or a brand new EcoBoost with a turbocharger.
  4. The model line is crowned by the Titanium Plus version, which costs almost 2 million rubles. It will feature all the innovations described above, such as Sync 3 multimedia, as well as a parking lot and a "wave your foot" opening of the trunk.
