1. To prevent dirt and foreign particles from entering the cylinders, it is necessary to remove dirt from the surface adjacent to the spark plug holes with a brush, vacuum cleaner or compressed air.
2.Using a spark plug wrench, a suitable pipe wrench or deep socket screwdriver and extension, unscrew the spark plugs. Keep the replacement head exactly parallel to the spark plug; if the head is moved or tilted to the side, the ceramic body of the plug can easily be damaged.
3. After removing all spark plugs, inspect them as follows.
4. Inspecting the spark plugs provides good information about the condition of the engine. If the spark plug insulator is clean and white with no deposits, this indicates a too lean mixture or too hot a plug (a hot plug transfers heat from the electrode slowly, while a cold plug transfers heat quickly).
5. If the tip of the plug and the insulator are covered with a thick layer of black deposits, this indicates too much rich mixture... If the plug is black and oily, then this, in general, indicates severe engine wear as well as the supply of a too rich mixture.
6. If the insulator is covered with light gray-brown deposits, this indicates the correct mixture and that the engine is in good condition.
7. Very important parameter is the gap of the spark plug electrodes. Thus, if the gap is too large or too small, the magnitude of the spark and its efficiency will be severely reduced. The electrode gap must be set in accordance with the values ​​given in the Specifications at the beginning of this Chapter.
8. To set the spark plug gap, measure the gap with a feeler gauge or wire gauge.
9. Or measure the gap with a wire tester.
10. Then squeeze or bend the outer electrode of the plug until the correct size of the gap is set. The center electrode of the plug should never bend as this can cause the insulator to crack and permanently damage the plug. When using a probe, the gap is correct when the probe of the probe passes the gap between the resistive electrodes.

12. Before reinstalling the spark plugs, make sure the threaded ring is firmly in place and that the outside of the spark plug threads are clean.
13. It is often difficult to thread the spark plug into the socket. To avoid stripping the threads, fit a short piece of rubber hose with an inner diameter of 7.94 mm over the end of the spark plug. 28. If everything is fine, then we shut off, remove the pulley, assemble the motor.
