Looking ahead, I will say that winter operation revealed another unpleasant feature - at temperatures below -10 C and at a speed of about 80+ km (out of sympathy for the movie "Back to the Future", let's say 88 km / h), the car was losing power, and at the display lit up - "engine fault". Of course, this was treated by restarting, but when it was necessary - to accelerate, lose speed, slow down, restart and accelerate again 3 times per hour, the treatment was already required for human nerves. In general, at the end of winter 2008-2009, all warranty cases were implemented and there were no claims to the car.
At the moment, the car has covered about 130 t.km. and there are no complaints about it. On the other hand, the car, if he knew how to express himself, would not be able to present serious claims to its owner.
Exploitation. Timely by service book... Dealer Atlant M Yauza. I can't say that the service is very expensive. Everything is relative. For example, the first MOT (12,000) cost me about 400 US dollars, the first MOT from LLC "Rolf" for Hyundai Getz from my friend cost about the same amount. When, finally, with a clear conscience, I refused service from the officials (end of warranty, 2011) and moved to LR-service, some details became clear, in particular, that all over the world RRS is serviced once every 24,000 km., And not 12,000. That, the oil does not have to be packed in liter containers with LR-marking. That difficult operating conditions are not Moscow or Central Russia, but mountains and preferably with a 3 ton boat on a trailer :)) Whatever one may say, but the set of claims to the domestic service for all brands is close to the standard, so it makes no sense to dwell on this I see. The car can only be bought on the secondary, a visit to the officials does not shine for her, so it makes sense to give some prices: changing the oil, taking into account the materials - about 7,000 rubles, replacing the pads in a circle - about 13,000 rubles. Xenon lamp - about 3500 rubles. I change the oil every 24,000 (with my mileage - once a year), the pads a little more often. Changed once brake discs, 1 - lamps in headlights. Nothing more.
Fuel efficiency. According to the passport: for long runs - 11.7 liters per hundred, in the city - 12.7-13.2. Diesel. Native fuel eats well, "poisoned" only 1 time at a no name gas station in the Kirov region: the engine honestly reached Moscow and then began to write "water in fuel" on the display and wrote steadfastly, but drove for about a month until the time came for the next MOT , although the replacement of the fuel filter took place unscheduled :(.
Comfort on long journeys. Auto drove a lot in Europe. The farthest place from Moscow is Genoa, the coolest is Kosovo :)), where I brought myself and my family by mistake during a trip to Montenegro. 1000 km are given easily and naturally, the consumption is pleasing, and under the right foot there is always half the pedal travel and smooth and powerful acceleration up to about 170 km / h.
Trips around Moscow. The car is respectable, so those around you are quite polite. High ground clearance(ksati, a paradox, but outside the city I almost did not use it) allows you to storm drifts and ridges of snow from harvesting equipment. City consumption grows slightly. The car, although large, but due to its linear design, is very suitable for maneuvering in a parking lot. Of course, the camera that comes with the new RRS makes life a lot easier, but mirrors and parking sensors are enough for most owners - which are initially present in the back in all trim levels.

The car was purchased to replace the 2005 TLC prado 120. 4.0L I traveled on it for more than 2 years and about 80t.km. It was the first SUV and left a favorable impression. In return, I wanted a fresher car with off-road characteristics and the best level finishes, equipment and comfort, as Pradik, to put it mildly, did not meet these criteria too much.

The legends about the lumpiness of the Land Rovers were not too embarrassing: we live once and do not want to drive a car, only because it is considered less fragile than the rest. The fact that RR in service will be more expensive than the Prado understood from the start. A well-groomed diesel car with a transparent history was chosen at a price slightly higher than the market average. Diesel car was not chosen by chance: lower fuel consumption was not decisive, just after examining many copies, I came to the conclusion that gasoline cars were chosen initially with the intention of annealing. In this regard, cars with "gasoline" were offered completely ushatanny.

The kit was enough for 45t.km. This summer I delivered a new set of nokian hakka 265/50 r20 - just perfect! Much more comfortable than yokogama.

Departure by car for more than 2 years and it's time to change the car. I wanted to buy a 2-3 year old Range Rover in a new body, but firstly, it is very expensive (from 4 million 1-2 years old), and secondly, we are stealing too much. I decided to change to a lower car, for a change. The budget is up to 2.5 million rubles. Considered all-wheel drive 1-3 summer audi a7, a8 (not long), bmw 5gt, bmw 7. I also watched jaguar xj, but he four-wheel drive went only from 2013 and prices for used ones started from more than 3 million.

And the RRS is up for sale. Although it is a pity to part, but in the current unstable macroeconomic conditions, three cars in a family is too much.

So! Why RRS ?! Well, firstly, this is a super-modern and progressive V8 diesel with two variable geometry turbochargers, which ultimately gives a whopping 640 Nm. already at 2000 rpm of the engine crankshaft. This greatly captivates and attracts me as a lover of interesting and technological solutions. With all this power, the consumption of diesel fuel is only 13-15 liters in the city and 9 liters on the highway at a speed of 120 km per hour. Therefore, we are driving well, and we also save :-) Banal "tractors" like Nissan and Mitsubishi Pajero I do not like at all, primarily because of the vibrations and noise from the diesel engine. The RRS is quiet and vibration free. I was surprised that even the cushions (supports) of the engine are electronically controlled by the brain of the car and exclude any vibration on the body! This solution is worthy of the 21st century! Now about exhaust system! The sound of this monster is striking in its power! One gets the feeling that the gasoline "eight" is accelerating. But this is a diesel! But this, of course, from the outside, and in the cabin there is complete silence :-) Noise isolation for a solid five, but only by engine compartment, but the noise of the wheel arches could have been made stronger. The huge R20 tires carry the lasting sound into the interior. Pneumatic suspension. Well, this is a separate plus, which allows you to have two in one car! You can have 4 different suspension heights! 1) the lowest for pick up and drop off! Moreover, you can lower and raise the car from the key fob! 2) basic mode. Approximately 185 mm ground clearance in the city and on the highway. Moreover, at speeds over 160 km per hour, the car descends and improves handling. 3) Off-road mode. The suspension raises the body to a mark of 227 mm from the very bottom point body. 4) Emergency. If the car in a track sits on the ground with its bottom, then you can additionally increase the ground clearance by 7 cm and get out of problem place... In general, with such a set, you can climb into rather difficult off-road conditions. System Terrain Response is a separate miracle of the RRS. It has five modes of car movement. 1) Normal conditions 2) Grass-gravel-snow and ice 3) Mud-rut 4) Sand 5) Stones-low speed It is also possible to go ford with a depth of 700 mm. (I really think it is possible even deeper if you first raise the car to a maximum of 30 cm clearance) You don't have to worry about steep descents and climbs. There's electronics for that. Controlled ascents and descents work when moving forward and backward :-) There is also a dynamic stabilization system. The car does not roll at all when cornering. This system can be turned off! For example, off-road. Brakes! Everything is short and clear. The base is equipped with a Brembo with 360 mm discs and four-piston calipers. Additionally, the factory has installed an emergency braking assistance system, as well as a braking assistance system in a corner. _________________________ ______________________ Well, about such things as a mobile phone with bluetooth, navigation and TV (analog and digital channels), a refrigerator, parking sensors in a circle and automatically lowered mirrors when driving reverse I think there is no need to write here, since there is a lot of this in the RRS, as in any modern car with a cost of 2.500.000-3.000.000 rubles Of course there is also a Webasto heater. There are also heated seats for all seats, numerous adjustments for the front seats, an auto-closing function for the tailgate (no need to slam), rear climate control, cruise control, a rear-view mirror with auto-dimming, Adaptive Bixenon 55 Watt. Heated glass and side mirrors, as well as headlight and windshield washer nozzles. The handbrake deserves special attention :-) This is not a lever or a pedal, but just a button :-) I pulled this button and the car was on the handbrake. I pressed the gas pedal in DRIVE mode and the car itself took off from the parking brake! Super! _________________________ ______________________ The body of the RRS is, of course, framed and additionally equipped with sills to facilitate boarding and disembarking. In the first case harmful substances pass through the manifold seals. As for the second situation, it can happen for two reasons. Excessive friction in the plain bearings and high consumption oils. The turbocharging disappears, and behind it the Electro-actuator breaks down.

Other 3.6 TD engine malfunctions

The problem may also be hidden in the air pipes. Their problem is that over time they dub, so we recommend the client to change them when passing the next 25-30 thousand km. Very often, when cracks appear in them, even the smallest ones, the machine enters into a limitation. Of course, the driver goes to the diagnostics, where they often sin on the turbine, sentencing it unreasonably. Yes, the boost drops, but in fact, the problem lies in the air pipes. You can even understand that they require replacement by their appearance.

New pipes are flexible and bend easily, and faulty ones look like plastic. The pipes of the cooling system can also fly behind them, they are less oil resistant, therefore, when driving at high speed, they can simply be pulled out. As soon as you see that a lot of oil is on the air tube, it means that it is quite possible that the water ones have also suffered.

Replacing the thermostat is also a systemic problem. This procedure is complex and time consuming.

As a rule, in the event of a malfunction of this element, you can see how quickly antifreeze goes nowhere. In parallel, disposable components also require replacement, for example, fuel pipe... As a result, you are faced with serious and costly repair of a multi-piece assembly.

The EGR valves can also fail, although they fail much less often than it happens on the same Discovery.

In order to change them, it is necessary to perform many manipulations, including the removal of the intake system. This work should be trusted only by qualified craftsmen.
