Changing the oil in the Opel Astra G, H and J box is not a difficult, but extremely important operation. Neglecting it can lead to high costs for the repair of damaged units and parts.

Replacement frequency

Passenger cars Opel Astra H and J are equipped with the same mechanical transmission model F23 (there are options with 5 or 6 speeds) or robotic F17 Easytronic. The oil change in the Opel Astra H and J box is not provided by the manufacturer.

In other words, the oil filled at the factory is designed for the entire life of the vehicle. But many owners and auto mechanics recommend changing working fluid v mechanical box quite often - every 30 thousand kilometers. It is advisable to check the oil level every 15 thousand km.

An automatic transmission can be installed on Astra cars, in which it is also recommended to change the oil. The oil change interval in the automatic transmission set by the manufacturer is 60 thousand km. But due to the difficult climatic conditions of operation, it is better to reduce the interval to 30-40 thousand km. The final decision on the timing of the oil change is made by the owner of the machine.

Oil selection

From the factory to box Opel Astra H is filled with synthetic transmission oil with API GL4 and SAE 80W-90 standard. When changing, the oil type can be left unchanged. But if the car is regularly and for a long time operated at low temperatures (from minus 30 degrees and below), then the Opel plant recommends pouring a more frost-resistant fluid into the crankcase of the box according to API GL4 and SAE 75W-90 standards.

It must be remembered that it is necessary to pour into an automatic box special liquid for automatic transmissions with Dextron VI approval. The manufacturer of the liquid can be any, although it is better to give preference original product General Motors (article 19 40 184).

Level measurement and top-up

Checking the oil level in the gearbox can be carried out during the next maintenance or just when servicing the machine.

To carry out this work, you will need a rag, a wrench and socket heads with a size of 13, 17 and 19 mm. You can add oil to the box using a special injection syringe for filling transmission fluids... It should be remembered that topping up the lubricant is required with exactly the same characteristics and the same manufacturer as the one in the box. When this data is unknown, you need to conduct full replacement oils. The general procedure is outlined below.

  1. The car must be driven onto an overpass, lift or inspection pit in the garage.
  2. On the side of the gearbox there is a special inspection hole closed with a threaded plug with a wrench size of 13 mm. Sometimes there may be small drips of oil around the plug, this is not a malfunction. In addition, the presence or absence of drips does not signal a low or normal oil level.
  3. It is necessary to wipe the box crankcase around the plug with a rag, and then unscrew it. Through the hole, you can check the oil level and the degree of contamination with your finger. If the oil level is very low, then the control sample can be taken out with a clean screwdriver or any other object. In no case should the oil contain metal chips and dirt. A magnet is installed on the plug, therefore, by the presence of chips on it, one can also judge the degree of contamination of the oil. If such impurities are present, the oil must be replaced. The level at the lower edge of the inspection hole is normal. At this level, the oil volume in the crankcase is about 2 liters.
  4. If the level is too low, add oil. To do this, unscrew the 17 mm wide vent plug located on the top of the gearshift mechanism. It is recommended to check the condition of the ventilation duct and, if necessary, flush it. During this operation it is important not to lose the protective rubber breather cap. Operation of the car without it is prohibited, since various dirt will get inside the box.
  5. You can get to the ventilation plug only after removing the battery together with the mounting platform, the plug itself has a wrench size of 19 mm.
  6. Topping up should be carried out until the oil begins to flow out through the control hole. After that, screw the screw plug back in quickly and tighten it tightly.

How to change the oil in the box with your own hands?

Changing the oil in the Opel Astra N box is complicated by the absence of a drain plug in the lower crankcase cover.

Preparing for replacement

To speed up the work, it is necessary to warm up the engine and gearbox. To carry out the work, due to the need to dismantle the box pallet, you will need a little more tools:

  • wide flat container with a volume of at least 3 liters for collecting old oil;
  • a set of wrenches and socket heads;
  • rags and protective gloves;
  • filling syringe;
  • differential oil pan gasket;
  • auxiliary tools - thin hose, funnel;
  • fresh oil (volume not less than 2 liters).

How to change in manual transmission

The machine is installed on a hoist, inspection pit or overpass. The sequence of actions when changing the oil in a mechanical box Astra z16xer is as follows.

  1. Unscrew the vent plug.
  2. Remove engine protection, if fitted.
  3. Loosen the 10 differential housing retaining bolts. At the same time, it is necessary to keep a container for collecting oil nearby.
  4. After draining the main part of the oil, unscrew the bolts completely and remove the sump.
  5. Remove the old gasket and wait until the oil is completely drained from the gearbox assemblies.
  6. Install a new gasket, oil pan and tighten the bolts.
  7. Remove the battery with the platform and unscrew the crankcase ventilation plug.
  8. Insert a hose with a funnel into the hole and fill in 1.5 liters of fresh oil.
  9. Unscrew the check plug and add oil until it appears in the hole.
  10. Replace the inspection plug and install all removed parts.

Stages of work in automatic transmission

On the oil pan of automatic boxes there is a drain hole closed with a screw plug of various designs. So, on Astra Turbo GTC cars with a 1.4-liter engine, the plug has a turnkey size of 11 mm, and on the version Opel astra H with 1.8-liter Z18XER engine, the plug has a hole for an internal hex # 10. A disposable O-ring 07 05 487 is placed under all plugs.

The screw plug in the pallet of the Z18XER box is clearly visible, under which there is an O-ring The housing of the Astra Turbo GTC gearbox has a different design of the screw plug

All work should be carried out on a machine raised on a hoist with a warmed-up box. A short list of works on self-replacement fluid in the automatic box is slightly different from the algorithm for changing the oil in a mechanical box and looks like this.

  1. It is necessary to unscrew drain plug and substitute a previously prepared container with a volume of at least 6 liters. The oil drains in about 10-15 minutes.
  2. After draining the oil, reinstall the plug and tighten to 12 N / m.
  3. Unscrew the oil control screw located on the side of the box next to the left wheel drive.
  4. The battery and platform do not need to be removed to access the vent plug.
  5. Pour liquid into the rubber tube of the crankcase ventilation until a leak appears from the control hole, usually about 5 liters of liquid are included in the box.
  6. Reinstall all removed parts and run the fluid through the box. To do this, it is necessary to start the engine and switch the box on the spot through all modes of operation; in each mode, a delay of several seconds should be given.
  7. Warm up the box for neutral gear within 3-4 minutes.
  8. Finally warm up the box while driving for about half an hour.
  9. Unscrew the check plug and drain off excess liquid. An important point- The plug must be unscrewed with the engine running. If the level is insufficient, top up.

It should be noted that with such a replacement, all the old oil is not drained. For a more complete shift, you can repeat this procedure several times, with an interval of 500-1000 km. In the crankcase automatic box there is oil filter, but its replacement is a very complicated and expensive procedure and is carried out only in the case of box repair.

Subaru decided to update the entire line, not news, but a song. Sales for the campaign will rise ogogo. Vaughn Forester has been updated and has already done business in November, and judging by the plans, in the new year, Subaru with sales will be in all right, cool. And they do well for themselves and people.

Has anyone counted how much diesel exhaust occupy in air pollution? It seems that these norms were invented by lobbyists, or they were simply taken "from the lantern." Cars with diesel engines occupy an insignificant part of heavy vehicles, which are almost all diesel. But even in gasoline engines especially trucks and buses, the combustion of fuel often works in such a way that there is nothing to breathe near them.

Option number 3 (for cars with a working hand brake): when a malfunction occurs in the working brake system on the go, do all of the above in the first case, + do not sharply raise the lever hand brake until the moment you feel the braking of the car. (it is advisable not to use on ice in winter or at the discretion of the driver)

@ Russian, because there is nothing more to write about, so the reporters are delusional and come up with it.

A new version, this is a new 2.5 or 3 liter diesel, a new manual transmission, new transmission... etc. And the bumper and the ladder to the roof ... it's easy tuning.

@ Russian, The wine is excellent, but unfortunately only what remains in Georgia itself, that is, for their own use. For, really high-quality wine of true Georgian brands is produced there in an extremely limited quantity... Well, everything that is intended for us, a Russian with an average income, is mostly produced under the MINASSALI brand. And what is characteristic, the Georgians themselves admit this fact. Therefore, it is very sad, but in this country now only terry Russophobia is being produced perfectly and 100% qualitatively. It's a pity...

the government once again shows the Russians that they are slaves to whom the government will milk to the grave, taking away everything that it can!

Change the engine oil in a car such as Opel Astra model G is as easy as shelling pears and you don't even need any parts or gadgets to do it. The main thing is to be careful and attentive, since in this case you will be working with the most important part of the car - its engine. So that you can easily change the oil to a new one in the engine, drive the car over the inspection pit, or install a high jack under it.

We warm up the engine to its usual working temperature in order for the oil to warm up and glass as quickly as possible. After that, we unscrew the plug that holds the oil in the container (this process is best done with gloves, since both the oil and all the parts will be hot) and turn it out. We open and drain the oil into a previously prepared container. It is worth noting that at least five liters of fluid will drain from the engine.

After that, we dismantle the O-rings and remove the oil filter. It must either be cleaned or replaced if it is already heavily clogged. You need to pour new oil into the cooled engine, but after you fill the vessel by 2/3, turn on the ignition and warm up the car. Add the rest of the oil after a couple of minutes.

Majority design modern cars has become so complex that now the average owner cannot make even minor repairs. Without proper education and a whole arsenal of special tools, this is simply impossible to do. The only thing that remains is a replacement or topping up operating fluids, incl. and engine oil. Today we will talk about how to do this in relation to the 3rd generations of the popular Opel Astra car.

The manufacturer recommends changing engine oil every 15,000 km. mileage. (or once a year). However, if the car is operated in an “environmentally polluted” area (which is understood by this term, the manufacturer did not explain), the oil should be changed 1.5 times more often - every 10,000 km.

Tools and materials

  • New filter (desirable but not required);
  • Container for old oil with a volume of 5 liters;
  • Key "TORX" T45;
  • Rags;
  • 24 head and extension for it;
  • Vorotok.

Changing the oil in the Opel Astra J engine

1) Start the engine and warm it up until the thermostat opens.

2) Remove the crankcase guard.

3) If the drain plug is dirty, clean it.

4) Take the prepared container and unscrew the cap. Wait for the old oil to drain.

5) The plug can now be screwed back on.

6) (Optional) Locate the oil filter, remove it and replace it with a new one. The container will come in handy here, as there is always a little oil in it.

7) Unscrew the filler cap and fill with new oil. In this case, it is advisable to use a funnel or keep a clean rag at hand.

8) After waiting 5 minutes, check the level. Add more oil if necessary and screw the plug back.

9) Start the engine and while it is running, inspect it for oil leaks. Normally, they should not be, if there is, an oil leak has appeared somewhere.

10) Install the crankcase guard.

Opel Astra - N

This car has been produced since 2004. Despite the more than decent period of stay on the conveyor, they are in no hurry to remove the car from production, since it is still in demand due to its extremely successful design. It is now known as the Opel Astra Femeli. The runs before the oil change are the same, but if it smells bad or changes color, the replacement should be combined with deep engine diagnostics.

Tools and materials

  • New filter and O-ring;
  • Wrench 17;
  • Head 24:
  • Key "TORX";
  • VD-40 (optional);
  • Container for old oil;
  • Graphite grease.

Changing the oil in the Opel Astra N engine

1) Unscrew 4 bolts and 2 nuts with a 17 wrench.

2) Unscrew the drain plug using the TORX wrench.

3) Wait for the oil to drain into the container.

4) Using head 24, remove the oil filter cover.

5) Replace the filter and with it the O-ring.

6) Before screwing on the cover, coat its threads with graphite grease so that it can be easily unscrewed next time.

7) Tighten the drain plug, fill in new oil, an approximate amount of 4 liters.

8) After 5-7 minutes. start the engine and bring it to operating temperature. Then turn it off, wait another 5 minutes. and use the dipstick. to find out the level.

9) If the oil level is insufficient, add it, after which you can put the protection back on.

Opel astra G

The second generation of "Astra" under the original name was produced from 1998 to 2004, and then for another 4 years it stood on the VAZ conveyor as "Chevrolet Viva" (there were no differences in the design, only the nameplates were different). The service intervals for this machine are similar to the receiver, so the numbers for the Astra N are also true for it.

Tools and materials

  • New filter and container for old oil;
  • New seal;
  • Set of wrenches.

Changing the oil in the Opel Astra G engine

1) Warm up the engine to operating temperature.

2) After substituting the container, unscrew the drain plug and wait until the oil is completely poured out. You may need to remove the crankcase guard before doing this.

3) Replace the old filter with a new one, remembering to do the same with the seal. When installing new filter it is recommended to lubricate with oil.

4) After screwing the drain plug, fill in oil, but not all, but 2/3 of the required volume.

5) After a few minutes, add the remainder to the neck.

6) Warm up the engine, then turn it off, and after waiting a few minutes, measure the level.

7) Add oil if necessary and replace the crankcase guard (if equipped).

Oil change is a serious procedure that requires attention and some knowledge. Nevertheless, it is performed quite quickly and easily. This process in the Opel Astra should be carried out systematically. In this article we will tell you how to properly change the oil in the engine, G
