Principle of operation, installation

On the car torpedo, we put the projector (using the anti-slip rug). The projector when working lights light, which mirrored turns over the frontal glass, on which we actually see the information in the usual form.

We connect the cable to the OBDII diagnostic connector (you need to rush in a submissive space, sometimes under the ashtray or in the armrest). The cable, if desired, can be shoved under the skin or sealing salon.

Connect the other end of the cable to the HUD projector (MiniUSB). In the place of projection of the indicators on the glass, it is necessary to stick a mirror film running in the kit (pre-clearing the glass on the inside).

Food device

The device does not require additional nutrition, it works from one cable running in the kit.

Controls

The projection display has a diagonal of 5.5 inches. From the left side, next to the power connector, there is a power button, as well as 3 position Jostik to navigate the menu, settings and calibration devices. On the back there is a small hole for zoom (squeezing).

When installing, do not forget to remove the protective film, it can partially reflect the light, which will affect the general perception. The screen itself has a matte coating.

HUD projector in the car

After starting the engine, the device displays the battery voltage for a few seconds, after which it starts completely.

Immediately I want to note that in fact the image on the windshield is visible better, more clearly, the technique cannot transmit all the features of the human eye.

The first thing that rushes into the eye is that the image on the windshield is bold. The fact is that on most cars there is a triplex glass - a multilayer glass (two or more organic or silicate glass glued together).

For such cases, a special transparent film is provided, which is glued on the glass, over the projector itself. After gluing the film, the image on the windshield becomes brighter, rushing, and the effect of "dual glass" disappears.

After we have decided on a place, you can glue the anti-slip rug, and the projector itself is already putting on it. After these manipulations, our projector will no longer slide along the torpedo.

Most of the readings from the dashboard of the car are duplicated on the windshield. Here we can see:
Tachometer - shows the number of revolutions per unit of time (Fig. 1, footnote 2).

Other interesting features

Projector menu and its calibration

To go to the device menu, you must click (Press) and hold (about 3 seconds) wheel.

To be honest, I did not understand what it is, but in the instructions on this it says:

Projection of instrument readings and navigation on the windshield is not new, but this option is still available only for premium machines. For less secured car owners there is an alternative option - HUD applications. We decided to download and verify that it is: toys or real helpers.

Free Android applications were selected for study (there are analogues on iOS), from among the most rating and in demand on Google Play. Thus, the five most popular HUD-navigation applications and top five "HUD speedometers" were installed. Go.

Navier Hud.

The application can be positioned at a weak satellite signal, picking up on cellular towers and A-GPS. You can run navigation, or select a speedometer. The map on the screen is not displayed - only a piece of the line of the route and direction indicators with text prompts. Navigation and settings menu are completely Russified. It is possible to select the color of the speedometer, compass and route pointers. There is a screen orientation setting point, but only horizontal works.

The address is strangely implemented: the program in the form of "prompts" takes names from the notebook phone and the points known to it. It is very quickly positioned, even faster than Yandex. Navigator. But when entering the address of the street names are not prompted, "extra" letters are not darkened. There are names from "contacts" or POI point. When you try to use voice search, the application flies with an error. Fonts in the address bar are thin but large and readable. A card is displayed on the screen, it is available in HUD mode.

The map is Russified, but the application menu is only in English. The map is schematic, only the main streets are signed (as for the image that hangs all the time before eyes, absolutely correct). But settings for choosing color design - only in the paid version. The function of a step-by-step text description of the route is available. The application can automatically change the orientation of the display, but when the device turns the device, the seconds are hanging on three with a dark screen. The closest imitation of real projectors on the glass. But the main thing is unable to work in HUD mode - for this, the application required Bluetooth connections to an additional projector device.

HEAD-UP NAVI can go to the mirror mode, but the developers here really crave money. Only the simplest speedometer is available in the free version, everything else (moreover is unknown that) is offered to buy.

Hud Speed.

Attractive speedometer with statistics and large numbers, color settings. But the app is very bad sees satellites - it could find more than 10 minutes! Very easily loses with them the connection, is looking for a long time. In a fixed position of the speed number all the time runs from 0 to 10 km h, jumps when driving.
