1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the car battery.

4. Unscrew the self-tapping screws securing the console of the radio receiver. And completely remove it.

5. Unscrew the screws securing the decorative overlay of the right pillar windshield and remove it. In the same way, we dismantle the cover of the left pillar.

6. Remove the decorative and protective cover of the steering column shaft. To do this, unscrew five screws and carefully separate the top and bottom covers.

7. Using two straight screwdrivers, we pry the retaining plates, by means of which the instrument cluster is fixed. We pull out the instrument panel.

8. Unscrew the union nut of the speedometer drive cable. Disconnect the cable, take it to the side.

9. On the connectors of the wires that go to the instrument cluster, we make marks so that later, when installing the dashboard in its original place, do not confuse them. Disconnect the connectors and completely remove the instrument cluster.

10. Using a screwdriver, we pry the electronic clock located in the center of the dashboard, disconnect the wires from them and completely remove the clock. We do the same with the heater operating mode switch.

11. Using a small straight screwdriver, slightly unclench the heater control handle latches and remove them from the levers.

12. Disconnect the conductors from the socket with the "glove compartment" illumination lamp.

13. Unscrew the screws that secure the side parts of the storage compartment. Remove the sidewall. We unscrew the nuts securing the dashboard to the body, which are located under the cover of the "glove compartment".

13. Unscrew the screws that secure the dashboard to the body from the bottom side. We also unscrew the two nuts securing the panel at the location of the instrument cluster.

14. Slightly lifting the dashboard up, remove it. The installation is carried out in the reverse order.

Backlight is off

Resistances are needed, since the voltage in the circuit of most VAZ cars is 12 V, and the voltage in the circuit consisting of diodes is approximately 4 V. Then, just as carefully, without scratching, we remove the greenish dusting from the insert (near the devices). And we got transparent numbers on the panel. Then reconnect the plexiglass and the insert with the scales.

Next, we will make a base for attaching the diodes. Take a piece of plastic, cut it out so that it fits into the recess in the main part of the panel. We repeat once again - plastic for our purposes must be flexible. Then we cut the technological holes for the arrow drives.

By the way, it is important to note that small holes can not be drilled, but pierced with a hot awl (and not even a very large diameter), the main thing is that resistances and diodes pass through them.

Then it is necessary to mark the positions of the diodes that are supposed to be used to illuminate the fuel and temperature scale. It is most rational to place the diodes at the points opposite the numbers 50, 90, 130 and according to the marks 1, 1/2, 0. As for the backlighting of the speedometer and tachometer, then at the points with large numbers.

Let's move on to preparing the LED, which needs to carefully grind off its head without damaging the light element. The main purpose of this activity is to remove the lens that focuses the beam.

There comes a crucial moment - we remove food, for all - one thing. We make a preliminary check - we turn on 12 V. If some LED does not light up, then there are several error options: either the LED was damaged, or the polarity was confused.

Further, in approximately the same way, we highlight the screens. We take a lamp with a plastic base and insert the LED, having previously cut it off and soldered the resistance. We set it so that it illuminates the window.

We install the LED bases in the panel case, take out the wires to connect to the board. We put the insert from the case with plexiglass into place until it is rigidly fixed. In addition, we will fix it with screws (of course, from the back side). We return to its place and fix the board, carefully, without bending the pins of the arrow drives. From the standard backlight, there are several outputs for powering the lamps, to any of them it is necessary to solder the power supply of the diodes. Next, put the arrows in place and set them to zero positions. Yes, of course, it would be necessary to correct the speedometer readings with the help of a trip computer, but if it is not there, and all the procedures were carried out carefully, then everything should be as it should be. Next, we put on a transparent visor.

Our work is over and the tuning of the dashboard is obvious. This tuning method is suitable not only for the instrument panel of the VAZ 2110 and 2115, but also for Kalin and Prior too. After all, the method is quite versatile and diverse, and the actual LED backlighting is very inexpensive.

Now let's consider the possibility of tuning the instrument panel by making a pedestal for additional devices. Namely: we will create two additional sockets for two devices on the visor of the dashboard.

First, we will dismantle the visor. It is necessary to slightly sand the part of the visor on which additional devices will be mounted.

Take a plastic pipe (any: sewer, plumbing, etc.) of a suitable diameter for additional. devices. Cut off two rings from the pipe, these will be the sockets for the devices.

Next, we will return the visor to its original place and mold a platform for additional. devices from hardening auto-putty, precisely along the contour, firmly pressing it against the torpedo. After the putty has set, we remove the visor again, now together with the made platform for the devices. Then we will slightly lift the surface, for better adhesion of the fiberglass.

Cut out the fiberglass pieces to the shape of the pad and saturate them with epoxy. Then, using glue and pieces of wood, we correct the angle of inclination of additional devices and fix them.

Using glue, fiberglass, sandpaper and epoxy, we form the part itself. We cut off the excess and make beautiful shapes again - now with the help of putty. Apply the putty in several layers, sequentially processing with sandpaper to remove defects.

For best result cover the surface with a primer. And only then we apply the final layer of paint in the color of the torpedo. We return the dashboard to its place, install and connect additional devices.

We considered two tuning options dashboards, and there are actually several hundred of them.
