Antifreezes for nissan ikstrail t31 recommended manufacturers. How antifreeze replacement is performed in the Nissan X Trail: the main features. Filling with new fluid

home / Engine

The procedure for replacing antifreeze may seem quite simple: unscrew the plugs, drained the waste liquid, replacing it with fresh one. Alas, not everything is so simple. But, first, let's figure out what the coolant is and why it needs to be changed.

What you need to know about antifreeze

From the name it can be understood that the coolant is used to remove the heat generated by the fuel, in other words, for engine cooling... Any liquid could cope with this task if it had sufficient specific heat. Nevertheless, in nature there is only one substance with the highest heat capacity (4200 J / kg ºС) - water. It was she who would be ideal for cooling car engines, if not for one thing: water is a rather aggressive substance for metals and, moreover, it freezes at temperatures below 0 ºС.

In order to make the water suitable for cooling engines, substances are added to it that prevent its crystallization at low temperatures and special anti-corrosion additives. One of these solutions is antifreeze. It is customary to call it a solution ready to be poured into the engine cooling system. The crystallization temperature depends on the density. By adding concentrated antifreeze to distilled water, you can achieve the required density and the required freezing point. But you should not get too carried away - by increasing the density of the coolant, you automatically reduce the specific heat of water. This is not critical in winter, but the engine can overheat in summer.

In our latitudes, a coolant that does not freeze at a temperature of -35 - -40 ºС can be considered optimal. Such antifreeze is sold ready-made. In regions where frosts can reach -50 ºС, it makes sense to bring the density of the "chill" to 60%. This amounts to 600 g of concentrate per liter of water. It makes no sense to add more concentrate, since when this density is exceeded, the freezing point does not drop, but rather rises. In addition, as indicated above, the specific heat capacity of the solution decreases.

Why is it necessary to change antifreeze?

During the operation of the car, the aging of the coolant occurs. Although its density does not change and there is no risk of crystallization, the additives are depleted and the fluid does not provide complete protection against corrosion. The weak link are the aluminum parts that the car's radiator belongs to. If you do not change the antifreeze within the time specified by the manufacturer, then shells and leaks may appear, with all the ensuing consequences. Debris from rust and other products of chemical reactions with metals forms in the cooling system. It is clear that such porridge hinders heat exchange, clogs the honeycomb (as a result -).

What antifreeze to use in Nissan X-Trail?

First caveat: in any case, do not pour antifreeze into Nissan x-trail... This fluid is designed to protect copper parts. It won't protect your SUV's aluminum radiator. Antifreeze designation: TL. Color - blue or shades of blue. Not compatible with all G type antifreezes.

Second caveat: remember that not all brands of antifreeze are compatible with each other. Therefore, if you are not sure of compatibility, fill in one type of liquid. Each type of antifreeze is marked with its own shade of color. For example, green the type of antifreeze is G11, and in red - G12. These two types of antifreeze are separately suitable for the Nissan X-Trail, but must not be mixed. Therefore, when changing the type of antifreeze to another (incompatible with the previous one), try to drain the maximum amount of coolant (about 7 liters). In this case, be sure to flush the cooling system with water.

Calculate

In the G12 line, you can find colorless G12 + and G12 ++ antifreezes. For them, mixing with red and green liquids or with each other is permissible. Filling without flushing, if no deposits are present, is allowed with compatible types of coolants. This simplifies the replacement process, since the remaining liquid (about 1 - 2 liters) will not significantly affect the cooling quality.

The cooling systems in gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines are identical. Therefore, the brands and types of antifreeze used in diesel engines are also suitable for carburetor (injection) engines. Antifreeze Nissan Coolant Premix L248 (KE9029-9935), as well as its concentrate, approved by the manufacturer of this car brand, are sold specifically for the Nissan car brand. Green liquid means it corresponds to type G11 (cannot be mixed with shades of other colors, but can be mixed with shades of green and yellow or with colorless antifreezes).

Replacement frequency

The manufacturer gives a clear answer to the question "". The first replacement is recommended after 90 thousand km of run or after 6 years of its operation, whichever comes first. All subsequent replacements are performed for every 60 thousand km of run. Some brands declare the development of antifreezes capable of providing a mileage of up to 100 thousand km.

What indicators to focus on is up to you. But the condition of the coolant should be monitored before winter, using tests:

  • The density is measured with a hydrometer. To do this, a small amount of antifreeze must be taken from the radiator. This can be done with a rubber bulb.
  • The state of the additives is determined by litmus, which changes color depending on the depletion of the composition. The color gradation and their meaning are indicated in the instructions.
  • In extreme cases, you can call on the service station and there to make sure that the antifreeze is suitable.

Replacement frequency for a new car

When buying a new car of any model, you should make sure of the density of the factory fill antifreeze. The fact is that a manufacturer can focus on export to countries with a warm climate, but you cannot know exactly which car you got. If the concentration is less than 35%, then for our latitudes it must be increased to 40 - 50%. You can do this yourself by adding a compatible concentrate to your plant fluid.

To do this, it is not necessary to drain all the antifreeze, but you can limit yourself to draining only from the radiator and from the expansion tank. Add about 1 liter of concentrate to this volume and pour back into the radiator. After warming up the vehicle until working temperature the total ratio of antifreeze to water will reach the correct level.

If you are not sure about the compatibility of the concentrate, it is better to buy fresh antifreeze and replace the factory fill with it.

Algorithm for replacing antifreeze in Nissan X-Trail

When starting the procedure for replacing antifreeze, it is necessary to cool the engine, if it was running. This should be done not only for reasons of your own safety. Pouring cold liquid into a hot block creates a sharp temperature drop, which can lead to unpredictable consequences. This warning is especially true in winter.

Expendable materials:

  • antifreeze for the Nissan brand;
  • cork gaskets;
  • sealant.

Instruments:

  • sacral screwdriver;
  • key for 14;
  • flat screwdriver;
  • jack;
  • balloon wrench.

The procedure for draining the waste liquid

  • We equalize the pressure by opening the expansion tank cap.
  • Carefully remove the plastic plug on the radiator with a Phillips screwdriver. Then we open the radiator cap and collect the contents in a suitable container.

  • Removing the plastic expansion tank, observing extreme caution in the cold, and empty it. The tank is attached with one bolt 10.

  • For easy access to the intermediate pipe, remove the left wheel and splash guard.
  • Disconnect the pipe for scrolling it in different directions. If it is "stuck" and does not give in, carefully pry off the edges with a flat screwdriver. We drain the liquid from the pipes.
  • To completely remove the spent antifreeze, unscrew the plug on the block. If you have removed the wheel, then lower the jack.
  • If you did everything correctly, then 7 liters of antifreeze will merge. About a liter will remain in the system, but this is acceptable when filling with compatible coolant.
  • Inspect the plugs and the contents of the cookware. If dirty impurities are observed in the drained antifreeze, flushing with the use of special means or rinsing with clean water when changing to another type of antifreeze.

We put the removed parts in their places. We change the gaskets in the plugs and lubricate them with sealant for reliability. Fill in fresh antifreeze by pressing on the air bleed pipe with your fingers.

After filling, it is necessary to wait for a while until air bubbles come out. After that, start the engine with the stove turned on. If, when the operating temperature is reached, the procedure is completed on a cooled engine, adding antifreeze to the maximum level. Otherwise, you will have to eliminate air locks by clicking on the nozzles.

After a short run, the coolant level should be checked. If it drops, then top up.

The power unit of any car is subject to strong heating during operation. For this reason, the cooling system is designed to prevent it from overheating. It is she who ensures the correct operation of the motor.

Our technical center performs a number of works on a regular maintenance and professional car repair Nissan X-Trail. The list of work performed includes the replacement of antifreeze and the repair of the cooling system as a whole: replacement of the radiator, pump, temperature sensor, lines, thermostat, coolant tank.

What is antifreeze for?

Engines internal combustion work at an optimum temperature of up to 90 degrees Celsius. To maintain this mode, you need to continuously remove heat from the heating elements. The car has highways, through which the coolant circulates. There are two circles of antifreeze circulation: large and small.

Car owners used to use ordinary water instead of coolant. But it boils much earlier than antifreeze, the boiling point of which in a closed system is about 130 degrees Celsius. Water forms scale on the inner surfaces of the cooling system components, and it, in turn, impairs heat transfer, which leads to rapid wear of engine components. To increase their service life, you need to use antifreeze.

When is it necessary to replace the Nissan X-Trail coolant?

Often motorists neglect the procedure timely replacement Coolant, which leads to engine malfunctions. The first time to change antifreeze in the cooling system of Nissan X-Trail cars is necessary after a run of 90 thousand kilometers or 72 months after the release of the car, depending on which indicator comes earlier. All subsequent replacements must be made every 60,000 kilometers. If the antifreeze is not replaced within the specified time frame, it will change its quality characteristics and will begin to negatively affect the metal from which the head and cylinder block are made. In other words, under the influence of a coolant that has lost its quality indicators, they will undergo corrosive changes.

What kind of coolant to fill in the Nissan X-Trail?

First of all, before you start replacing antifreeze, you need to determine which coolant is suitable for your vehicle.

This information will help you find out the instructions for the car. Or:

  • for 2001-2002 models, G12 is suitable - red;
  • in the cooling system of cars produced in 2003-2009, it is necessary to fill in the G12 + liquid, which also has a red color;
  • to fill the cooling system of vehicles manufactured after 2010, a red liquid of G12 ++ class is required.

Guided by these requirements, you can avoid mistakes when choosing a coolant.

Replacing antifreeze

When antifreeze replacement is needed in the Nissan X Trail, Nissan (original antifreeze) is the best choice. It is based on ethylene glycol. Its brand is indicated in the vehicle manual. If you are unable to use the original coolant, you can choose an analogue based on the characteristics of the original.

Important!!! Replace the coolant only when the engine is cold to avoid burns. Always use gloves when working. Remember that antifreeze is poisonous.

To replace the coolant, you will need:

  • open the drain hole on the radiator;
  • remove the radiator cover;
  • remove the cover from the expansion tank;
  • unscrew the plug located on the cylinder block;
  • screw the plug into the cylinder block;
  • screw a new plug into the radiator drain hole;
  • fill the cooling system with new antifreeze;
  • pour liquid into the expansion tank up to the mark;
  • close the radiator and expansion tank with appropriate caps;
  • to run power unit, warm it up before turning on the fan;
  • Stop the engine, top up coolant in the expansion tank if necessary. Its level should be between the minimum and maximum marks.

If you are not sure of your own qualifications, do not take up self-replacement coolant in the cooling system of your Nissan X-Trail, because if you tighten the plug, which is located on the cylinder block, it can crack. It is better to contact our technical center, where highly qualified experienced craftsmen will replace the coolant in your car with high quality and without errors.

The optimum temperature for an internal combustion engine is between 80-90 degrees Celsius. To maintain this mode, it is necessary to constantly remove heat from heated parts. Everything modern cars equipped fluid system cooling, which includes:

  • main radiator,
  • radiator for oil cooling,
  • forced cooling fan,
  • pump for pumping liquid,
  • thermostat,
  • expansion tank,
  • connecting pipes,
  • temperature sensor.

Also in the cylinder block and its head there are special holes through which coolant circulates.

There are two circles of antifreeze circulation: small and large. The first is designed to quickly heat up the engine and coolant. The second is necessary to cool the antifreeze after it has gone through a full heat exchange cycle.

What is coolant (antifreeze) for

Previously, many car owners used regular water instead of antifreeze. Such actions were erroneous, since water has low temperature boiling, as a result of which scale forms on the inner walls of the cooling system elements. This leads to a deterioration in heat transfer and, as a result, rapid wear of engine parts. To avoid such a development of events, it is necessary to use a special coolant.

Nissan antifreeze replacement timing

Many car owners neglect the timely procedure for replacing antifreeze, but in vain, because from this, as you have seen earlier, the performance of the car engine depends. The first replacement of antifreeze in Nissan vehicles should be carried out after 90 thousand runs, and each subsequent one - every 60 thousand. If you postpone this procedure for the future, you may face the fact that the coolant will begin to change its properties and negatively affect the metal (usually aluminum) from which the cylinder head and the block itself are made.

Instructions for replacing antifreeze in Nissan vehicles

For this car brand, it is recommended to use original antifreeze Nissan (based on ethylene glycol), which is specified in the documentation for vehicle... If it is not possible to use the original coolant, select an analogue based on the specifications of the fluid.

Do not under any circumstances start the replacement while the engine is hot, otherwise you can get serious burns.
Also, use gloves.

The coolant replacement process is as follows:

  1. Unscrewing the tap on the radiator, which is accompanied by the leakage of antifreeze.
  2. Removing the radiator cover. After that, you will find how the liquid begins to pour out more intensively.
  3. Removing the expansion tank cover.
  4. Unscrewing the plug on the cylinder block.
  5. Tightening the plug on the cylinder block.
  6. Tightening the tap on the radiator.
  7. Filling the cooling system with antifreeze.
  8. Fill the expansion tank with antifreeze to the appropriate mark.
  9. Tightening the radiator cap and expansion tank.
  10. Engine starting. During its operation, we observe the readings of the temperature sensor in the cooling system.
  11. We turn off the engine and look at the liquid level indicator. The level should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
  • In order to empty the expansion tank, you need to remove it. This is done easily: we take a suitable key and unscrew the bolt that holds the tank. After removing the liquid, disconnect the hose and thoroughly rinse the tank and then dry it.
  • As a rule, after draining the antifreeze, some liquid remains in the system. Blow into the filler hole to expel all the coolant.
  • After replacing the antifreeze, it is recommended to drive a couple of tens of kilometers by car, and then add the required amount of fluid.
  • Before pouring new antifreeze, you can flush the system plain water, or use special formulations.
  • Under normal conditions, the boiling point of antifreeze is 108 degrees Celsius, in a sealed cooling system 130 degrees Celsius. Therefore, in the event of a leakage (for example, a crack has formed in the expansion tank or hose), the engine will boil. To avoid this, change the expansion tank with a hose in a timely manner.

If you doubt that you will carry out the antifreeze replacement procedure yourself, then contact a specialized Nissan car service, where experienced and professional mechanics will solve this problem for you.

Large amounts of oil entering the engine combustion chambers due to wear or damage to valve stem seals, valve stems, valve guides, piston rings, pistons and cylinders Inspection after disassembling the engine Repair the engine

In 80%, several main factors affect the toxicity of exhaust gases: 1. Fuel (the first and main factor) 2. Engine condition (wear, amount of contamination) 3. Engine oil (type, quality, cleanliness) 4. Air filter condition (resistance) ...

1. Fuel... Before going on technical inspection, a few days before, should only be filled quality gasoline with a high octane number. This approach will drastically reduce the amount of toxins in the exhaust gases.

2. Condition of the engine. This is the most common factor that leads to a change in the composition of the exhaust. It is recommended to clean twice a year fuel system and do not forget to periodically change the fuel filter. The condition of the spark plugs greatly affects the toxicity, it is recommended to replace them before maintenance.

3. Engine oil. Oddly enough, the quality of the engine oil also changes the composition of the exhaust gases. Synthetic engine oil leads to a decrease in toxicity, and mineral to an increase. Therefore, before going through MOT, it is recommended to replace the old engine oil with fresh one; you need to use only high-quality oil purchased from official representatives.

4. Condition of the air filter. Everyone knows that the resistance of the air filter (pollution) causes a decrease in power, excessive discharge in the intake manifold and an increase in toxicity. Before going through MOT, it should also be replaced with a new one!

The main reasons for the formation of toxic substances in the internal combustion engine are the imperfection of the processes of preparing the combustible mixture before being fed into the cylinders and in the cylinders, which leads to incomplete combustion of fuel in the engine, as well as contamination of the fuel with various impurities and additives.
Ideally, the complete combustion of hydrocarbon fuel in the engine as a result of this process should produce carbon dioxide and water vapor, which are not toxic substances.
But it is almost impossible to obtain an ideal fuel combustion process at various engine operating modes or to have perfectly clean fuel in the real practice of operating cars. Therefore, unpleasant emissions into the atmosphere always accompany the operation of an internal combustion engine.
The amount of toxic substances in the exhaust gases of diesel engines and spark ignition engines has significant differences due to the different nature of the processes of mixture formation and combustion of fuel. Diesel exhaust gases contain large amounts of soot and nitrogen oxides, while spark-ignition engines contain carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. Therefore, the anti-toxicity agents are different for these types of engines.

Reducing the toxicity of exhaust gases from cars is carried out in various ways by improving the design and working process of engines, equipping cars with systems for capturing and neutralizing harmful emissions, as well as improving the environmental properties of used gasolines.

Other causes of engine toxicity

Losses during fuel combustion (losses from the entry of unburned fuel into the exhaust system);
losses due to a rich air-fuel mixture;
losses as a result of oxidation and combustion of fuel in the compression phase (due to the presence of an injection advance angle or an ignition timing);
losses in the combustion chamber due to the clearance between the pistons and the walls of the cylinder block;
friction losses between piston rings and cylinder block;
losses due to inertial forces arising in the internal combustion engine (as a result of "shifting" the pistons and other elements of the internal combustion engine);
friction losses due to asymmetric connecting rods;
losses due to asymmetric combustion;
losses as a result of collision of pairs of articulated parts of KShM and CPG;
losses for the operation of units installed on the internal combustion engine.

Do not uselessly turn the engine with a starter for a long time;
do not start the engine by towing. You should use the “lighting” method from another car;
it is forbidden to check the operation of the cylinders by disconnecting the spark plugs.
in case of interruptions in the operation of the ignition system, do not allow the engine to operate at a high crankshaft speed until the malfunction is eliminated;
do not add engine oil beyond the maximum level. Excess oil entering the catalytic converter can damage the coating or completely destroy it.

According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the first replacement of antifreeze with Nissan cars X-Trail, carried out after 72 months, or after passing 90 thousand kilometers. In addition, during operation, it is worth looking at the condition of the coolant. The appearance of a dark brown tint or discoloration of the composition indicates a fake. In this case, it is advisable to drain the antifreeze and fill in a quality product.

What type of antifreeze for nissan x-trail

Before replacing the coolant, it is worth deciding on the brand of antifreeze. You can get the necessary information in the instructions for the car. In addition, you can use:

  • For cars from 2001-2002, the red G12 coolant is suitable. Here the choice is wide enough - Lukoil Ultra, G-Energy, MOTUL Ultra.
  • If the Nissan X-Trail was produced between 2003 and 2009, then the best solution will use antifreeze class G12 + (red). Suitable replacement products for antifreeze are Freecor, G-Energy, MOTUL Ultra, Frostschutzmittel A.
  • For cars manufactured after 2010, the manufacturer recommends pouring red G12 ++ class antifreeze. Recommended options are Glysantin G 40, MOTUL, Freecor DSC, VAG.

To do the work of replacing antifreeze, a ten-liter canister is required. The total volume of coolant that is poured into the system (without a reservoir) is 6.6 liters. If you change the fluid only in the radiator, you will need 2 liters. That is why it is better to produce full replacement including the engine manifold. In addition, a certain volume remains in the stove and pump.

Replacement process

The question of how to drain antifreeze requires careful preparation for work. The first thing to learn is safety rules. Antifreeze is a poisonous compound, so it should not come into contact with the skin, paintwork of the machine or the ground.

Draining antifreeze

To replace antifreeze, follow these steps:

  1. Raise the front left side with a jack.
  2. Remove the engine shield that obstructs the radiator drain.
  3. Unscrew drain plug using a Phillips screwdriver. The radiator cap is made of plastic, so there are no problems with dismantling it. When unscrewing, proceed smoothly, without jerking, so as not to disrupt the internal thread.
  4. Substitute a bucket, bowl or other container, and then wait until the liquid is completely drained.
  5. Unscrew the radiator cap and inspect the condition of the sealing rubber. In most cases, it needs to be replaced. If you ignore this work, the gum can begin to skip, already at the first frost.
  6. Remove the flare from the throttle body to gain good access to the heater manifold.
  7. As soon as all the liquid has left the system, discard the return pipe from the radiator. Before doing this work, clean the part to avoid getting dirt into the system.

After you've managed to drain the antifreeze, turn your attention to the radiator cap. Make sure the valve is snug and well springy in place. When pressed, there should be no grinding or other extraneous noise... Once released, it should return freely to its place.

Pay attention to the valve gaskets. The presence of cracks and other defects indicates the need to replace the part.

  • Remove the expansion tank and wash it thoroughly, from the formed sediment.
  • Find the cylinder block plug (hereinafter - BC). To get to it, you will have to remove the right wheel and look under the wing. The cork is with right side BC. The manifold is interfering with removing the plug.
  • Take the key at "fourteen" and loosen the plug. Keep the branch pipe removed from the tank nearby.
  • Unscrew and insert, instead of the plug, the hose, and then wait for the coolant to drain from the Nissan X-Trail BC.
  • Remove the jack, then drain the remaining coolant from the radiator.

Pay attention to the plug, which is tapered and does not require a gasket. It is not necessary to change the part, but it is desirable to apply sealant to the threads. It is better to use a threaded fastener that retains its quality even in the event of vibration.

  • After emptying the BC, tighten the drain plug with a torque of 9.8 N * m. It is difficult to do this manually, so it is better to use a torque wrench. If you overtighten the plug, there is a high risk of a crack in the BC.

When removing the expansion tank (if required), be careful not to work in cold weather. The most fragile places are the nose and ear of the latch. The pipes can be removed without problems, but some may stick. In this case, you can swing them and pick them up with a screwdriver.

Pouring new antifreeze

The next step in replacing antifreeze is to fill the coolant in Nissan system X-Trail. For this:

  1. Collect all connections in their places.
  2. Screw in the drain plugs.
  3. Lift the oven nozzle up.
  4. Fill the system with coolant. First fill the radiator until it flows out of the heater filler neck. At the time of pouring, press several times on the nozzles by hand.
  5. Pour some coolant into the heater pipe and install it.
  6. Fill the expansion tank to the maximum.

Antifreeze replacement is complete. Now start the engine, inspect the system for leaks, warm up the engine and move the heater handle to the maximum position. Wait for the Nissan X-Trail radiator fan to turn on and turn off the engine.

The instructions clearly describe how to drain the antifreeze, what points to pay attention to, and what to choose for refueling. Following the proposed algorithm allows you to do the work yourself and save money.
