For smooth operation boat motor reviews of shipowners are advised to purchase high quality transmission oil. To that lubricant stringent requirements are put forward, since it provides a long service life of rubbing parts and the engine as a whole.

Why should you buy gear oil?

Not a single owner of motor vehicles can do without buying gear oil. It is necessary to buy transmission oil so that all the gears of the engine do not wear out due to friction and the service life of the motor increases significantly.

Our store offers transmission oil, supplied with an additional complex of additives for the best performance on water. It protects parts from friction and protects them from corrosion and oxidation.

Transmission oil envelops the moving parts of the mechanisms with a film that prevents friction and the appearance of chips on the parts. The oil must withstand high temperatures, since during the operation of the engine, it heats up to 300 degrees, and also retains its properties during the operation of the engine in winter. Gear oil price depends on the manufacturer, the amount of additives, as well as the viscosity and quality of the product.

You can buy gear oil from us:

  • Mineral;
  • Synthetic;
  • Semi-synthetic.

On what basis the oil has, its characteristics and price depend. Synthetic-based transmission oil is enriched with the largest amount of additives that allow the lubricant to do its job even when water gets into it.

Synthetics are not cheap, but at the same time they are considered the highest quality transmission oil, therefore they are most popular with water motors.

Replacing the impeller of the cooling pump of the Mercury boat motor with your own hands.

Often the time comes when the impeller of the Mercury outboard motor cooling water pump needs to be replaced. For a more detailed and illustrative example, we suggest you watch a video of the entire cycle of the replacement operation

Very often the owners of motorized water transport are torn between the dilemma of cost and quality: on the one hand, such Japanese brands as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki have already proven themselves from the best side, and on the other hand, they are reluctant to overpay for the name. We advise you to look a little further west to the market, specifically to China. Indeed, in fact, outboard motors produced on Chinese conveyors exactly copy Japanese technologies, using not only original spare parts, but also wear-resistant parts of local production. This means that the cost of products is falling while technologies are improving at a leaps and bounds.
Why is it advised to buy HDX motors? [Click to read] Today we are talking about a specific manufacturer that has won the leading position in the East Asian market and has gradually introduced itself to the domestic plant Suzhou Parsun Co. So, HDX are outboard motors that began to actively develop 10 years ago. Previously, they were known under the Parsun brand, but recently there was a rebranding, which only played in favor of the manufacturer. So, what are the trump cards in the sleeve of a reliable and cheap "Chinese"?
First and foremost: forget the myth about the "one-day" service. HDX outboard motors have a warranty return rate of almost half that of some domestic and Asian brands.
Actively developing engine control electronics: which leads to a significant reduction in fuel consumption, a decrease in harmful emissions into the atmosphere and flawless starting of the outboard motor.
Quality assembly - yes, it was in China that workers began to work conscientiously and raise standards of control while the rest of the world relaxed.
You can quickly and easily find accessories for HDX motors, not forgetting to sometimes enter the query "Parsun".
Well, to summarize, we remind you of the cost: for the money that you save, you can buy hundreds of liters of fuel and skate more than one successful season. While the "horses" HDX honestly work out the amount paid, even 120%. Of the latest innovations The range of outboard motors on the distributor's website is quite successful. The only thing worth mentioning is that do not save on engine power, if the volumes of the vehicle require, take with a margin. So, of the loudest novelties recent years more often positive reviews you can hear about the HDX F 5 BMS. This unit has a potential of 5 hp. able to dashingly ride, and even save on fuel consumption. The power of a 3.6 kW HDX boat is enough for a four-stroke engine with a working volume of 112 cc. Manual start and tiller control, simple box in three transfers - in a word, all the cards are in hand.

Want to raise your bids? Then take a look at the HDX F 9.8 BMS. This engine combines efficiency, reliability and power in its four starting strokes. Still, the HDX outboard motor offers 9.8 hp. with a maximum power of 4.4 kW at a working volume of 209 cc. Two cylinders spin up to 5500 rpm, the motor is capable of pulling a small fishing boat. And this despite the fact that the control remains the same accessible to the child. A little about the company HDX motors entered the market under the auspices of technology Japanese company Japan Engineering Co. Ltd. Previously, the Suzhou Parsun Co. (by the way, to this day, the largest in China) produced products under the Parsun brand. The company's mission is to create a new generation product at a price that is kept within reasonable limits. Outboard outboard motors are in demand in two-stroke and four-stroke versions. The buyer is invited to choose the power from 2 to 90 Horse power, optimal parameters weight, fuel consumption and control. And most importantly, all products are covered by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty, so chinese motors have already made serious competition in the global sales market.

First of all, we remind you that in order to maintain the manufacturer's warranty, all maintenance, including changing the oil in the gearbox, must be carried out by specially trained people at an authorized service center.

In all other cases, you can safely use this instruction.

We need

1. The container where it is necessary to drain the used oil;
2. Wide slotted screwdriver;
3. Gaskets for plugs;
4. Special pump for pumping large volume oil, if the volume of small oil is poured directly through the nozzle in the tube;
5. New transmission oil;
6. Outboard motor stand if the outboard motor is not installed on the transom.

Sequencing

1. Install the motor on a stand with a vertical deadwood. If the motor is installed on a transom, then the deadwood is also installed in an upright position. The motor must be installed slightly raised above the surface.

2. Install a container under the motor to drain the used oil.

3. Unscrew the bottom drain plug... The oil will begin to drain into the drain container.

4. Unscrew the top plug. We are waiting for the oil to completely drain from the gearbox (10 minutes). ATTENTION! Some "masters" after draining the oil recommend flushing the gearbox with gasoline. In no case should this be done. Gasoline destroys the oil seals, after which water enters the gearbox, forming an emulsion.

5. Change the gaskets on the plugs (while the used oil is draining).

6. Fill the purchased fresh oil into the gearbox. For filling a small volume of oil, special tubes (bottles) are used, which have a nozzle that fits tightly into the drain hole. If the volume is large, then special pumps are used. We insert a nozzle (tube) into the lower drain hole and squeeze the oil out of the tube (pump oil from a large-volume container with a pump).

7. Stop oil filling provided that oil begins to flow from the upper control hole, and this is not enough without air bubbles.

8. Holding the tube (pump), twist the top cap.

9. Remove the tube (pump) from the lower drain hole as quickly as possible to minimize oil loss and tighten the drain plug. Some of the oil will still leak out. If the volume is small, then there is no need to worry.

10. Check the oil level by unscrewing the upper control hole. If a lot of oil has leaked out, then it is necessary to add it. Low oil level can damage the gearbox.

11. Tighten the plugs tightly. Wipe off the oil from the gearbox. We transfer the used oil to special enterprises for further disposal.

Oil change in the gearbox of the outboard motor "Beluga". boatsclub ...

The main unit of outboard motors is the engine. For normal operation of this unit, it is necessary to regularly change the oil to avoid damage to rubbing parts and to prevent general overheating. The main rubbing element of the outboard motor is the gearbox, which is protected by a special lubricant.

The question of what oil to pour into the gearbox of a boat motor is quite relevant in our time, and the high-quality operation of the unit itself largely depends on finding the right answer to it.

What characteristics should the oil used in outboard motors have?

The main feature of the operation of the outboard motor unit is that this unit operates constantly in the aquatic environment. Therefore, for normal operation, it is necessary that the used one has the following parameters:

  1. have special anti-emulsion additives that protect engine parts from water ingress;
  2. have an anti-corrosion additive that protects parts from corrosion;
  3. optimal viscosity of the grease, contributing to a high-quality and permanent work unit;

Categories of lubricants produced for boat units

API standards engine oils transmission type must fully comply with classes GL-4 or GL-5.

API GL-4 lubricant designed for the following operating conditions:

  • for lubrication of hypoid or bevel gears;
  • for parts with some displacement of their axis;
  • for work of parts in different ranges from light to very heavy;

These oils are characterized by the fact that they contain a large amount of additives that are used in oils of the API GL-5 class.

API GL-5 class is used to lubricate hypoid gears with large axle displacement and most working cycle working in heavy technical conditions... Lubricants of this class have a sufficient amount of additives that protect the rubbing elements of the motor from significant overloads and excessive pressure.

What kind of oil to fill in the gearbox of the outboard motor

The oil for such units must fully meet the characteristics of the standards described above. In addition, it is recommended to use a specific brand for a specific engine brand according to the available recommendations.

Yamaha motors. Only lubricant is used (SAE 90 GL-4). Reliably protects the engine from corrosion and the operation of the gearbox on increased speeds... The composition of the lubricant for these purposes contains the necessary amount of additives, which provide a significant period of engine operation even in extreme situations. Using of this oil a stable oil film is formed that protects the part from oxidation and the negative effect of high temperature conditions. Foam and various kinds of deposits in the motor are not formed.

Tohatsu motors. It is possible to fill in these motors various brands as long as they meet API GL-5 standards.

Mercury motors. These units prefer only Quicksilver lubricant and are typical members of the SAE 80W-90 grade. The above applies to motors up to 73-75 hp. With engine power more than 76 hp it is advisable to use High Performance oil, which contains a certain set of additives that reduce the likelihood of emulsion formation and accumulation.

How much should be used for the normal operation of the boat unit

Power units of various capacities differ among themselves in the design of the gearbox. The greater the power of the motor, the more it needs lubricant... So for a 6 hp engine. you need 200-210 ml. oil, and for a motor with a power of 17-18 hp. the volume of the lubricant increases to 370-380 ml.

How to correctly determine the oil level in an outboard motor

For a detailed inspection of the lubricant, the following work must be performed:

  1. we fix the unit in an upright position using a stand;
  2. on the left side of the gearbox, you need to find and carefully unscrew the plug;
  3. prepared in advance oil dipstick lowered into the hole and immediately removed;
  4. if the dipstick surface is dry, top up immediately.

List of required tools for oil change

For replacement, you need to prepare the following tools in advance:

  1. the container into which the mining will be merged;
  2. wide end spindle screwdriver;
  3. cork gaskets;
  4. pump for pumping into the engine;
  5. new oil purchased in advance;
  6. stand equipment for fastening the motor.

Oil change procedure

  1. The motor is being installed on a machine with vertical dywood placement. The motor is mounted in a suspended position.
  2. Under the drain hole power unit substitute a container for extracting the used lubricant.
  3. Using a wrench, unscrew the drain plug and wait for the complete drainage of the mining.
  4. Unscrew the top plug and wait an additional 12-15 minutes until it completely drains out of the motor. It is strictly forbidden to clean the engine between oil changes using gasoline. After all, gasoline contributes to the destruction of oil seals and the formation of an emulsion in the engine.
  5. While the final drainage of oil is taking place, it is advisable to change the cork seals.
  6. We fill the gearbox. For this purpose, use bottles with special nozzles, which are tightly fixed in the drain hole. If the amount of oil to be poured is large enough, then special pumps can be used.
  7. It is necessary to fill in until oil begins to flow out of the control hole.
  8. Having filled the required amount of lubricant, we hold the pump and tighten the upper plug.
  9. Remove the pump from the bottom hole and close it with a stopper.
  10. We check the level using the upper control hole.
  11. Close the plugs tightly and wipe off the remains from the surface of the gearbox.

Thus, in addition to solving the question of which oil to fill in the gearbox of the outboard motor, it is also necessary to properly replace it. It is very important to use the specific boat motor recommended by the designers. And this replacement must be carried out on time and technically correctly.

Maintenance outboard motor. Changing the oil in the gearbox.

Like any equipment we deal with, no matter how much we want it, but we have to maintain. Whether it's a bicycle, a car or an outboard motor. Maintenance of the engine consists, of course, not only in changing the oil in the gearbox, but also in lubricating the various moving parts of the engine and adjusting the carburetor. But more on that in the following articles. We will now look at the process of changing the oil in the outboard motor gearbox.

First, on two-stroke motors it is necessary to use the oil recommended by the manufacturer. This can be seen in the passport for the corresponding engine. Typically, this is Quicksilver TC-W3 oil. It comes in various packaging, but in my opinion it is more convenient to use 300 ml tubes. I will explain below why it is more convenient.

You need to start by installing the engine in an upright position. IN garage conditions, you can, for example, fix a board of the required thickness in a vice and hang a motor on it. If you are in nature, then put the motor on some kind of elevation, for example, a tree stump. It is necessary to drain the oil into some container and then dispose of it.

So, the motor is hung out, the container is placed under it and we unscrew the bottom plug. Don't lose the gasket. Since the top hole is still closed. then the oil will drip slightly. Pay attention to the first drops (it can be water), to the color of the drained oil (a whitish tint indicates the presence of water). If your water gets into the gearbox, then in frost conditions it can freeze inside and disable it.

Next, unscrew the top screw. The oil will now drain intensively. you need to wait about five minutes until it is completely drained. During this time, the loosened screws can be cleaned and the oil checked for metal shavings. After the run-in season, chips may be present in the oil. This is normal. But in subsequent replacements, the presence of chips indicates excessive wear on the gears.

T Now let's get down to the actual filling. Wipe the old oil holes with a rag. We insert the spout of the tube with oil into the drain hole and begin to wrap it, as you can see in the photo.

We roll up the tube until oil begins to flow through the upper ventilation hole. This operation can be done alone, but if you have an assistant, then at this moment, without removing the tube and slightly pressing, you need to tighten the screw into the upper ventilation hole. After tightening, the tube can be removed, the oil will not flow much. But it is advisable to immediately tighten the screw of the lower filler hole.

Check if you forgot to install washers with the screws. Now let's wipe the engine oil off. and that's it! Happy sailing!
