The braking efficiency was estimated on snow, ice, wet and dry asphalt. The tests were carried out at different temperatures, and the average result was determined after 15-20 races. On Ice, the car was stopped with 50 km / h, on the snow and wet coverage - from 80 km / h. The tests on the snow-covered and iced surface were carried out both in the outdoors and indoors, where the temperature and humidity adjustment eliminates the influence of the weather.

The traction force in the snow and ice was estimated using the most quick acceleration from 5 to 35 and from 5 to 20 km / h, respectively. The tests were also carried out at different temperatures on the highway and in the covered complex.

An assessment for manageability was raised depending on the time of the circle, and besides this, several pilots constituted their opinions on how tires are accelerated, inhibited and tested on various surfaces. Tests were held blindly, that is, the pilots did not know which tires were installed on the car. In the same way, term stability was estimated, that is, the ability of the tires to maintain the direction of movement without having fun.

In the test on the noise level, the pilots also put subjective assessments by making several races on uneven coatings. Finally, the rolling resistance was measured as follows - the car was freely rolling, slowing down from 80 to 40 km / h, along the smooth surface without the influence of the wind. The tests were carried out at two different temperatures, after which an increase in consumption as a percentage in comparison with the most economical tires was calculated.

Test World emphasized that all tires were purchased in free sale in various stores. If the tires have not yet been available on the market, they sent the manufacturer, but after the start of sales, the results of these tires were additionally checked.

The standards existing in Scandinavia do not limit the number of spikes in the tires. More precisely, there are no restrictions for manufacturers whose new tires were tested by an independent organization, which confirmed that the effect of spikes on road wear does not exceed the permissible values. If the tests have passed successfully, the manufacturer may at its discretion choose the type of spikes and their number.

Another option is to abandon these tests and reduce the number of spikes to the maximum allowed indicator, that is, 50 pieces on the protector mester - in the amount of 205/55 R16, this means that spikes should be less than a hundred. Of the 12 participants of this test, only three producers decided to follow this path.

An increase in the number of spikes improves the clutch on the ice. This is a logical investigation, and the test results confirm it almost always. Be that as it may, one thing only a large number of spikes does not guarantee success in the whole test, although it gives a certain advantage on the ice.

The more spikes, as a rule, there will be more noise, which can hardly irritate while driving. When driving along asphalt, spikes can also adversely affect manageability, stability and even braking efficiency.

An additional clutch on the icing surface is ensured by penetrating the spike to the surface of the ice. In order for the spike "clutched" into the ice requires a certain amount of energy. The more spikes, the less pressure on one separate spike, and if you go through solid ice In cold weather, tire clutch with fewer spikes can be stronger.

Nokian "smashed" the market of studded tires a couple of years ago, presenting the tires in which 190 spikes were 50-100% more than that of other tires on the market. After that, the Nokian tire won in one test after another, but their advantage gradually decreases.

This year, the Continental tires are also equipped with 190 spikes. It is easy to guess to whom they were focused when this quantity was determined, but be that as it may, the results are still excellent.

In third place in the number of spikes are Hankook, which have them 170 pieces. The Korean manufacturer is actively invested in scientific developments, and the experts noted that it was nice to see that good winter tires began to come from Asia. As the representative of one of the manufacturers said, 10 years ago, the characteristics of Korean tires for many in the industry were a reason for jokes, but now they are not laughing at them even in major European companies.

A large group of test participants installed 130 spikes in tires. Goodyear, Bridgestone and Pirelli are well-known manufacturers, so it was logical to take their tires on the test. Among the tires from the second order brands there are Sava, Dunlop and former Nokian, which are now offered as Nordman. All of them are an inexpensive and less high-tech alternative tires from premium brands.

Michelin, Gislaved and Chinese Linglong spikes less than a hundred, that is, these tires did not pass the road coating test. The first two models belong to the premium class, however, apparently, other parameters cannot compensate for the lack of clutch on ice in comparison with tires with a large number of spikes. As for Linglong, the tires of this company have already participated in Finnish tests, being among the best winter tires from China.

Friction tire developers do not need to worry about the number of spikes, but their absence must be compensated for in some other way, and this creates a number of other problems. There is a limited set of tools for increasing the clutch on the ice of untouched tires, and mostly engineers use new materials and improved tread patterns, while making compounds as soft as possible. At the same time, if you move with the softness of the rubber mixture, other problems may occur, the worst of which are weak adhesion on the wet asphalt, unstable controllability and low wear resistance.

IN last years Nokian and Continental occupied the upper lines in friction tire tests. Even without spikes, their tires provide an impressive clutch on ice, but buyers will have to put up with sluggish reactions on the turns of the steering wheel on the asphalt or choose other tires, whose clutch will be weaker again.

Goodyear When creating friction tires, made an emphasis on manageability on the asphalt, which only a little worsened clutch in winter conditions, and Michelin always preferred to create a balance of characteristics without any obvious flaws. Pirelli and Bridgestone are old proven brands, but their models in this test differ from those that have been tested before.

The list added two tires from the lower price segment - Nordman from Nokian and Nankang from the Taiwanese manufacturer, who is known for its sufficiently successful summer tires. This test showed whether their winter tires compete with products from European companies.

In the bus business, the most varying information about how the winter tires of various types are wearing, and how wear affects their grip. Someone says that friction tires wear out twice as quickly studded, and someone is convinced that due to wear of spikes after a couple of years, the grip of studded tires will be weaker than that of non-surfactants.

Test World has chosen six tire models from last year's - four studded, two frictional - and checked their wear, passing them on asphalt roads in cold weather 15,000 km, which is about equivalent to operation within two winter seasons. The route basically ran through the highways, but on every tires were carried out for a hundred braking and accelerations at low speeds to simulate the conditions of urban traffic.

The tests used three cars that followed one route at the same conditions. Two tires were taken for each model, which were rearranged from the front axle to the back. Thus, upon completion of the test, all tires drove the same distance on the front and rear axles, and in addition, the drivers also changed by cars to avoid influence on the result of their driving style.

Tires were tested on ice braking efficiency before the test, after which the same tests were carried out every 5,000 km. It is noteworthy that the tires of both types lost the clutch approximately the same, and after 15,000 km its level decreased by 20% somewhere. In addition, the worsening of the clutch was equally held at the tires of various brands, and the alignment of the forces did not change along the total test. This suggests that the results of the tests of new tires allow you to judge and how those or other tires in the worn out state will behave.

Be that as it may, in terms of durability, the tires differed from each other. The table shows how many kilometers they can pass before the depth of their tread will decrease to 3 mm. Michelin is historically known as tires with particularly good wear resistance, and the tests of the selected model again confirmed this reputation. It is worth noting that the results will always depend on the car, the quality of roads and driving style.

With the exception of Michelin, all other tires of both categories wear out approximately equally, and after the test, their tread depth decreased by 2 mm. Friction Continental wear was only 1.5 mm, but, as in the case of Michelin, due to the relatively small initial tread depth of up to 3 mm, they are extended faster. It is necessary to recall that high wear resistance can adversely affect clutch, and the buyer must decide which parameter is more important.

Test World note that although on paper the differences between tested tires may look insignificant, in fact, in everyday life, they may be more than obvious, and this applies not only to braking efficiency, but also to the grip in the rotations and reactions on the steering turns . According to experts, the worst tires in the test almost do not allow to control the car on slippery surfaces, so the Test World reminds that when choosing winter tires, it is not necessary to navigate only on the price and buy cheap tires. Tests of various organizations Year after year show that budget Asian tires do not provide the optimal level of security, and the accident will be much more expensive, not to mention other, more serious risks.

Nokian received top grades in all ice disciplines, where they have a short braking path and high transverse clutch, which clearly contributes to the presence of 190 spikes. In the snow, the tires were also among the best, and they demonstrated their weaknesses in tests on braking efficiency and handling on wet asphalt. Experts noted that this is a normal situation if the main priority is created by the main priority of the ice.

Continental also perfectly performed in the tests on ice, although in terms of braking and overclocking efficiency, they still lost a little nokian. At the same time, pilots awarded them 10 points for behavior, which was stable and predictable. On the snow-covered road, Continental were also among the leaders, and they are clearly better than Nokian, on wet coverage. In other words, these are tires that can optimally cope with any conditions and have no obvious flaws.

Hankook occupy a place on the podium, so the Korean brand is likely to become one of the leading tire market players for harsh winter. Hankook has a short braking path and high traction and in the snow, and on ice, and on the winding track, they were one of the most high-speed tires, which speaks of their ability to hold the clutch in various situations. On the wet asphalt, Hankook also quickly stop the car, but at the same time they can be drove too much, and they do not have very good informativeness.

Goodyear This time probably exceeded all other studded tires in terms of the balance of driving characteristics on various coatings. They are quite a bit behind the best tires on the snow and ice, where they have a short braking path and good handling. The only weakness is a relatively low grip on the wet asphalt, but the pilots noted that the tires behave consistently and safely.

Another good result for Pirelli. On the ice of the tires behave confidently and reliably, without presenting unpleasant surprises, and in the snow in Pirelli albeit relatively long braking path, but good traction effort and high transverse clutch. In addition to this, Pirelli turned out to be one of the best studded tires on the wet asphalt, where they also have very stable handling. The minus is that Pirelli's noise is louder than most other tires.

Dunlop was able to earn a large number of points, not least because they were among the best on wet and dry asphalt. In the snow and ice, they also performed well enough, but not so stable as leaders. With acceleration and braking on ice, everything is in order, as with a slowdown of a car in the snow. Unlike most other studded tires, Michelin is not so strongly oriented to enhancing the clutch on the ice, and besides, they gave way to other tires and on a snow-covered surface. At the same time, on the snow-covered highway, Bridgestone occupied rather low places in all disciplines, that is, over the grip in the snow still need to work. On the wet asphalt Bridgestone quite quickly stop the car, but they can lose clutch too dramatically, and they have slow reactions to the power turns. Nankang fell on the last lines in most disciplines. They have a weak longitudinal and transverse clutch on the ice, and in the snow, the situation was in many ways the same regrettable. - Middle handling on ice, snow and asphalt

To the materials about the choice of rubber, you can very often see such a comment: "It doesn't matter what tires costs - in Soviet times, only on the summer went. And nothing! So the main thing is not a tire, but the head on the shoulders. " In principle, the promise is true, since the careless rides can "get out" absolutely on any, even the titled tires. But there is a small nuance: good tires Great facilitate control, so that the probability of emergency situation itself decreases repeatedly.

Tests on ice and snow were carried out in the open air and indoors, where, due to control over temperature and humidity, it is possible to eliminate the influence of the weather. The dynamics of accelerated and snow-covered surfaces was also determined in the same way.

Here is an example. To stay on the ice "mirror" from a speed of 50 km / h, studded tires Continental ContiCecontAct. It takes 30 meters, and the Chinese Sunny SN3860 is 20 meters more! No caution will help here: you need to ride either twice the slower (you can imagine a car that goes in the city at a speed of 25 km / h?), Or have the gift of foresight to know when crosswalk A schoolboy's boy pops up suddenly or when a red signal will turn around on the traffic light. It is clear that both are impracticable conditions, while buying more or less decent rubber is the thing is absolutely real.

Handling was estimated in two ways: first the time of the circle was determined, and to show a good result, the tires needed a combination of rapid acceleration, high side clutch and efficient braking, and after that, the pilots gave their subjective comments. Also, individual subjective estimates were exhibited for exchange resistance

Another example is the time of the ice trace. "I'm not a racer", do you say? The fact that the test on record "riding" Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 spends on an exercise of 48.1 seconds, and on the aforementioned Sunny - 71.6 seconds, means that the driver has to go much slower to avoid driving. And this is - constant pressure And overall uncertainty on the road. Winter and so solid stress for the human body, and here more experiences will add a banal road to work ...

The noise level was estimated by several pilots and in front, and in the back of the cabin. In the dough on rolling resistance, the car rolled from a speed of 80 to 50 km / h to a flat surface without the impact of the wind and with the engine turned off. Tests were carried out at two different temperatures.

Finally, one more remark. The tire industry develops fantastically quickly, so that the tires that were unconditional test leaders a few seasons back, today they can hope to hope hopelessly from modern competitors. Nokian Nordman 4. Legendary, once beloved Fourth Hakka (Nokian HakkaPeliitta 4), now produced under the budget sub-near Nordman, unexpectedly occupied the penultimate place! Therefore, the fact that every new generation of rubber is more expensive than the previous one, no need to be surprised - this is a surcharge for progress.

Experts Test World tires always buy themselves, in ordinary stores, otherwise manufacturers can set an improved version of the tires. In cases where the novelty did not have time to get to the retail network, tests have to carry out control tests to determine whether the differences between the usual and tires sent by the manufacturer

What basis did we do all these conclusions? Based on Test World tests: These Finnish guys experiencing tires on the polygon for the polar circle, in the issue of tested tested are considered genuine authorities, and their tire tests publish leading world cars. This year, 25 models of winter tires - 13 studded and 12 embracing - dimensions of 205/55 R16 were caught on the feminines. Immediately, we note that the premium brand tires occupied the first lines of the final protocols. But! Great surprised inexpensive tires, some of which could show very good results.

1-2 places: 8.2 points. Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 2

Country of production: Poland

Thanks to balanced characteristics, Goodyear showed good results absolutely in all disciplines. The UltraGrip ICE 2 model has high rates on snow and ice, as well as wet asphalt - it seems that Goodyear engineers had to work to achieve such a combination. In addition, the model is distinguished by a low noise level, therefore - deserved first place.

1-2 places: 8.2 points. Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2.

Load Indices and Speed: 94R

The creators of the Hakkapeliitta R2 model decided to make a bet on the best grip on the snow and ice: on these coatings, Nokian not only turned out to be the most efficient tires, but were able to get around (in particular, on braking on slippery surface) some studded tires. But without flaws, it also did not cost: Finnish rubber weak on wet asphalt. Hence the conclusion: it is impossible to be the best in all areas.

3-4 Places: 7.8 points. Continental ContivikingContact 6.

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Country of production: Germany

The novelty from Continental immediately hit the podium, only slightly lifting two best tins. W. Continental good Indicators on the snow, but they lag behind others on wet asphalt - in critical situations of the reaction may be too slow and inaccurate. But experts noted good behavior on dry coating, low noise and low rolling resistance.

3-4 Places: 7.8 points. Michelin X-Ice XI3

Load Indices and Speed: 94H
Country of production: Spain

Michelin turned out to be one of the best awesome tires on the snow and ice. However, on the asphalt, the rubber from the French shinniks performed somewhat weaker than others, although - regardless of the situation - the X-ICE XI3 ensures safe driving without unpleasant surprises. The tires are noisy, but the rolling resistance turned out to be high.

5th place: 7.7 points. Maxxis SP02 Arctictrekker

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Country of production: China

Exactly tires Maxxis For the first time refuted that the tires from China will necessarily be bad. Not becoming the best on slippery coverage, in all exercises SP02 Arctictrekker demonstrated very even results. And no unpleasant surprises! At the same time, Maxxis bypassed many other unsuccessful tires on the snow and wet road. Round resistance and noise level at the average level. In general, it is a very worthy rubber at an attractive price.

6th place: 7.3 points. Bridgestone Blizzak WS70.

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Country of production: Japan

Recently, Bridgestone was one of the leaders among the nothesive tires, but now BLIZZAK WS70 is only a middle pepper. They have effective braking in the snow and ice, but the transverse clutch at the middle level. But most of all the pilots were acknowledged sharp drifts on the wet asphalt. Noise low level, rolling resistance high.

7-8 Places: 7.2 points. Pirelli Winter Icecontrol

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Country of production: China

7-8 Places: 7.2 points. Sailun Ice Blazer WSL2

Country of production: China

More cheap Chinese tires that could solve products much more famous brands. Ice results are average, but in the snow Sailun were one of the best. On wet asphalt, too, although the experts noted some nervousness at the clutch limit, and on both coatings. Round resistance is low, and the noise level is high.

9th place: 6.8 points. Dunlop SP Ice Sport

Country of production: Germany

Friction Dunlop surprised weak clutch on ice, although the studded model of this brand became one of the leaders of this exercise! Moreover, the experts complained about braking, and overclocking, and on handling ... in the snow, behavior is better, and the dunlop asphalt is very good on the wet. Course stability is not bad, but the noise of SP Ice Sport is loudly the rest.

10th place: 6.7 points. Vredestein Nord-Trac 2

Load Indices and Speed: 94t

11-12 Places: 7.1 points. Kumho I * Zen KW31

Load Indices and Speed: 91R

Kumho adequately behave only on wet asphalt, which is clearly not enough for the conditions of harsh winter. On Ice I * Zen KW31, it is too long for too long, only average results are demonstrated on the snow ... plus loud noise, mediocre course stability and high rolling resistance.

12th place: 7.1 points. Sunny Snowmaster SN3830.

Load Indices and Speed: 91h
Country of production: China

Sunny tires that have become worst among friction modelswill be suitable for winter conditions of Central Europe, but not for the northern winter. They have disgusting results on the snow and ice, although Snowmaster SN3830 feels good on the wet road.

Table 1

* How to use the table? In it, experts are placed marks, which are divided into 5 categories ("Lod", "Snow", "Wet asphalt", etc.). The final assessment was obtained not by simply summation - the points for each exercise before adding are multiplied by the warehouse coefficient (second column). Let us clarify on the example: goodyear for braking on ice earned 8 points - this result is multiplied by 15%, 7 points received 7 points for the acceleration on ice - this figure is multiplied by 10% ... The results of such multiplication for each exercise are summarized and we get the most final assessment .

1st place: 8.8 points. Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8.

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 190
Country of production: Finland

Nokian studded received excellent marks on all disciplines. In difficult winter conditions, tires demonstrate extremely effective braking and high security. True, in the exercises for braking on a wet road and the course stability of Hakkapeliitta 8 a little behind the leaders, but this slip did not prevent Finnish rubber to become the best.

2-3 places: 8.6 points. Continental ContiCecontAct.

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Germany

Continental's tire ice has shown perfectly: in terms of braking efficiency, and in terms of controllability. That's just in the snow, the ContiCecontact was only a little weaker than Nokian HakkaPeliitta 8. Because of this - only second place. And still tires from Germany (despite fewer spikes) are quite loudly noisy.

2-3 places: 8.6 points. Pirelli Ice Zero.

Load and speed indexes: 91t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Germany

Pirelli also does not prevent unpleasant surprises on winter - moreover any quality - roads: these "riding" distinguishes very good stability on an uneven road. The main disadvantage of the ICE ZERO model is a relatively long path on the wet surface. In addition, the tires of the Italian brand could be hidden.

4th place: 8.4 points. Goodyear UltraGrip Ice Arctic

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Poland

The UltraGrip Ice Arctic model from GoodYear should be recognized by very balanced winter tires for any conditions - obvious disadvantages on behavior on the wet and dry asphalt tires do not possess, plus, excellent results on snowy and ice coatings. However, in the "pure winter" disciplines Goodyear losing a little rivals.

5th place: 8.3 points. GISLAVED NORD * FROST 100

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 95
Country of production: Germany

Gislaved earned a lot of good estimates, especially in the snow. On Ice Nord * Frost 100 is a little inferior to the leaders, but the model is good on the wet asphalt. The disadvantages include a relatively long brake path on dry asphalt and high rolling resistance.

6th place: 8.1 points. Hankook Winter I * Pike RS W419

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 170
Country of production: South Korea

The Hankook ice requires a slightly greater distance to stop the car than the best tires, but satisfaction comes on the snow: in most snow tests Winter I * Pike RS W419 performed well. Although the tests noted that in the snow, Hankook behave a little nervously. On the wet asphalt Hankook received high estimates for predicability and ease of control.

7th place: 8.0 points. Dunlop Ice Touch

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Poland

On the ice dunlop. could not boast confident clutchSo the car often entered. However, on wet asphalt tires Ice. Touch turned out to be one of the best, but the tests on the dry coating were again turned out to be sudden.

8th place: 7.9 points. Michelin X-Ice North 3

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 95
Country of production: Russia

In the tests in the snow, Michelin performed exactly, but on ice the figures are somewhat worse than the leaders demonstrated, although the X-Ice North 3 unpleasant surprises will not be presented. On dry and wet asphalt Michelin - obvious leaders, and more so quiet among the studded tires.

9th place: 7.7 points. Bridgestone BLIZZAK SPIKE-01

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Japan

In most snow disciplines, Bridgestone earned 9 points out of 10, so these tires are especially effective in the snow. On Ice Blizzak Spike-01 brake well, but the remaining tests on a slippery surface model passed the average. Course stability also leaves much to be desired ... weaker consumption will only be excellent performance on dry asphalt.

10th place: 7.5 points. Vredestein arctrac

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Netherlands

Vredestein has only average ice results. In the snow, the Arctrac model slowly slows down, but in terms of its manageability, its behavior does not instill confidence. On wet asphalt, only the rating is "satisfactory." To top it all, the experts noted enough good term stability.

11-12 Places: 7.1 points. Jinyu YW53.

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 114
Country of production: China

Cheap Jinyu from China provide a very weak clutch on the ice! In the snow, however, the situation is a bit better, but the pilots believe that winter tires should behave much more confident. On wet asphalt, the results are not bad, but term stability is not good enough. Plus, yw53 louder noise than most studded rivals.

12th place: 7.1 points. Nokian Nordman 4.

Load Indices and Speed: 94t
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: Russia

Alas, but tires Nordman russian production It was even worse than Chinese Jinyu on the ice, so we cannot recommend them. In the tests in the snow, the results are noticeably better, although the test drivers did not feel again full confidence behind the wheel. Supplement the list of flaws of Nordman 4 low results on wet asphalt.

13th place: 5.9 points. Sunny SN3860.

Load Indices and Speed: 91h
Number of spikes: 130
Country of production: China

Sunny tires confidently settled on the last line of the test table. According to many of their characteristics, "Rubeovka" from the Middle Festival remind of non-seized tires for the Middle Eastern Winter: SN3860 distinguished themselves with a high grip and good handling on the asphalt, but disgustingly performed on snow and ice. For the conditions of Northern Winter, Chinese tires are difficult to recognize a good choice.

table 2

* How to use the table? In it, experts are placed marks, which are divided into 5 categories ("Lod", "Snow", "Wet asphalt", etc.). The final assessment was obtained not by simply summation - the points for each exercise before adding are multiplied by the warehouse coefficient (second column). Let us explain on the example: Nokian for braking on ice earned 10 points - this result is multiplied by 15%, 10 points received 10 points for the acceleration on ice - this indicator multiplies by 10% ... The results of such multiplication for each exercise are summarized and we get the most final assessment .

"Michelin"- French company, one of the world leaders in the production of automotive tires. It has about 70 enterprises around the world, as well as 5 research technological center (in France, USA and Japan) and 5 test polygons (in France, USA and Spain).
In addition to the main brand of the MICHELIN group of companies, other well-known brands, such as Kleber, Goodrich, Wolber, Riken, Tyremaster, Uniroyal, Taurus and others.

In Russia, Michelin also has its own tire production plant. It is located in the village of Davydovo Orekhovo-Zuevsky district of the Moscow region. Production facilities There are not the largest - about 2 million tires per year, but it is there that the company is the only shopping shop on tires, in which all the rubber produced by Michelin in Europe is hidden.
In Russia, the "Michelin" tires are sold or our production, or the company produced at European plants in Italy and Hungary.

"Michelin X-Ice North 3" - This is a new winter studded bus that has enlightened a variety of innovative technologies developed by Michelin. Most of them are combined into one complex called "Smart System" (Smart Stud System) and includes:

  • The thermoactive rubber mixture, which is used as an inner layer of tread and which is capable of changing its elasticity, depending on the ambient temperature: when high temperatures It becomes soft and spikes as if pressed into the protector, significantly improving the grip on the asphalt; At low temperatures, it becomes rigid, making it both fixing spikes with more rigid and thereby increasing the clutch on the icing coating.
  • Ice Powder Remover technology designed to remove the ice crumb and representing a system of 6 absorbed this ice crumb of wells around each spike.
  • The design of the spike itself having a view of a cylinder with a cone-shaped tip, which is installed on a wide base that ensures reliable capture of the spike.

The protector drawing of the tire "Michelin X-Ice North 3" received an increased number of coupling edges that improve the grip on the snow-covered road. Also changed the angle of the drainage channels, which increased resistance to aquaplaning and slashplanting. In these tires, a new rubber mixture of Flex-Ice 3 is used, which contains proportionally natural and synthetic rubber than improved clutch on a wet road. In addition, it has flint additives that contribute to wear resistance.
Ironflex technology was applied to enhance the tire frame, which consists in using an additional layer of steel filaments and providing additional impact resistance.

Test World Test World Tests turned into a triumph of the German concern Continental, whose tires won in both standings - studded and unshakable tires. According to TW experts, there was nothing surprising in this, since Continental is well known in Scandinavia with its high-quality winter tires, and this result should be considered natural.

"IceContAct 2 is just excellent tires. They provide a pleasant ease of management and very predictably behave even in extreme situations on the icing surface, "said experts. - They also guarantee optimum handling in the snow, and in general it is possible to say that the Continental tires can feel safe in any conditions of the winter period. "

If everything is clear with Continental, then the tires on the second places in the tests of studded and untapped tires showed the results that they need to consider them sensation. Silver in the dough of studded tires as a result unexpectedly received inexpensive Hankook Winter I * Pike RS +, which did not share anyone, and the formidable model of Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9. Perhaps the Koreans helped the fact that not so long ago they opened their own polygon for winter tire tests in Ivalo (Finland). New Centr Located next to the covered complex TEST WORLD, so Hankook can test winter tires without the cost of transporting winter tires throughout the year.

In the standings of the unsuccessful tires, the second line got sava tires Eskimo Ice, which, like Hankook, does not belong to the premium segment and also be able to surpass competitors from much more famous brands. It is worth noting that Sava is issued by the American Giant Goodyear, and their high result speaks of the opinion that with a small budget it is worth choosing tires produced by major manufacturers under their second order brands.

This time several cheap tires from Asia from Asia - Landsail, Linglong, Nankang and Triangle took part in the test. In TW, they noted that they again occupied places at the bottom of the ranking, but several cheap tires from Asia from Asia were also participated in the dough, Landsail, Linglong, Nankang and Triangle. In TW, they noted that they again took places at the bottom of the ranking, but the indicators of budget Asian tires are becoming better than a year From year to year, and possibly a change in the arrangement of forces is just a matter of time. TW also noted that tires of various brands produced in Russia are increasingly involved in tests. This time, Michelin and Pirelli tires were released at Russian factories, and experts say that, most likely, this trend will continue in the future, since large manufacturers are building factories in Russia, including to reduce costs. In conclusion, it is worth saying that tires that would be as effective as possible in any conditions does not exist, and it is necessary to make a choice based on its individual preferences. For every motorist in front of the winter season, it is not a simple choice - what winter tires are better to buy. From this depends on the safety of movement, people's lives and compliance with the law as a whole. According to clause 5.5 of Annex No. 8 of the Customs Union, the law stipulates the obligatory time to drive in winter tires from December to February of each year. However, weather conditions in our country every year are different, and the snow can "lie" back in October, and go away at the end of January. That is why the period of mandatory "Pereobuppa" define regional authorities. Allowed both untouvented winter tires and spikes. Rules of PDD are regulated by the mandatory tread size and the size of winter tires itself for each car.

In addition to creating security road, the presence of spikes (according to the authorities) creates a threat to the modern road surface, on which there is no snow. This leads to the destruction of the layers of the road, so employees road police Carefully check "shoes" passenger carsmobile in the offseason.

If you all know about winter tires, you chose a model and want to buy winter tires - go to the store "Wheels for nothing"- Verified! More than once ordered on it, prices are always more profitable than others . Large selection of tires, discs and various automobiles. The order can be made online with delivery even to the regions.

New or used winter tires

In addition to a wide variety of tire manufacturers in the store, car enthusiasts choose between new wheels and used. And those and others have their pros and cons.

Such wheels are guaranteed not to sweep at the first ride (in the case of high-quality production). If this happened - they can be returned under warranty. New tires will serve longer without repair, they will not be difficult to install new spikes if there is such an opportunity. It is difficult for some models of cars to find used tires, so you have to buy or order only a new product. The only drawback is a high price. But it turns into a plus, if you consider data in the ratio of depreciation and the service life of the new rubber.

If you need to buy winter tires, many car owners first turn to popular sites that sell goods that used. There the owner indicates how much time the wheels were exploited. Information is presented with words, it is impossible to verify the authenticity of information, so the buyer has to believe. The price of winter tires that have already been used by another car owner will be lower than on new products. But when registering the average service life from 2 to 4 seasons, as a result, such an acquisition is unprofitable.

What winter tires are better

As already mentioned, the tires for the winter can be studded and awakened. Between them the difference is not only in the presence of spikes.

  • Scandinavian winter tire- Created for maximum clutch with snow-covered or icing road surface. It has an average drawing depth from 8 to 10 mm, with a discharged effect. The drawing is applied in checker, rectangular or diamond patterns. The protector is equipped with lamellas. Between the pattern is a large distance. Such a form is created to maintain the surface;
  • European winter tire - Created to move on a wet road from rain or snow. All slopes are thin, with a large number of water channels.

Spikes on such tires are located in a different order, depending on the manufacturer. Most often they can be 2 species: round or rhombid. The most reliable are "recessed" in the coating. They are deeply embarrassed, while the tip on the side of the outer part is strongly acting and well interacts with the road.

Interesting fact! In some countries, the use of spikes on wheels is prohibited.

The spikes can help in adhesion with an ice and snow-covered road, but during the rain, they can travel on the contrary, increasing the braking path. The spikes add noise and quickly fly when driving over the surface without snow and ice.

Often heard the definition of "All-season rubber". Such products are actively used in Europe, but in the harsh Russian climate they are not suitable for use. The ranking of the best winter tires for Russians consists of studded and non-studded wheels, for which it is worth navigating.

Rating of the best winter tires 2018

So, proceed to the review of the best winter tires. The rating will participate in the ranking top brands And the most proven time of the model of winter tires.

Top Winter Tires 2018 Presented from several popular manufacturers. In general, last year's situation in the proposals market has not changed not much, the annual quality leaders according to the winter tire rating are firmly held their positions.

1st place. Opens our winter tire rating - Nokian

Popular winter tires with a large assortment of adapted for the Russian harsh climate of the wheels. Winter tires Nokian are designed specifically taking into account the peculiarities of each car and for different weather conditions. Despite the large range of products, there are negative opinions about this brand in the reviews. One of the drawbacks is called noise when driving. Complaints for small difficulties of braking and care in the SMZ. For the price of the wheel are in the golden middle of similar proposals.

Nokian's winter tires from Russian car owners are popular in 2 models: Khakapelitis and Nordman. Both models are declared on the best in the line specifically for the harsh Russian winters.

Studded winter tires Nokian Hakkapeliitta

A series of winter rubber, designed specifically for hard climatic conditions. The presence of spikes makes a hitch with an expensive reliable, the rubber is not much noise, does not cause strong complaints of reviews. This rubber leads among studded tires since 2009. In total, in the line of winter tires hakapelite 8 models. The popular Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 has a vacuum clutch technology, "Runflat" technology is provided for some sizes. Radius from 13 to 22. In the Sun line from 14 to 22 specifically for SUVs.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8. According to the conclusions of the developers, it is designed to save fuel, lack of noise and a wonderful hitch with the surface of the road. The test of winter tires 2018 has shown that this model is really well coping with ice, but the reviews are talking about the strong noise of rubber.

latest model Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 line - even more balanced and adapted to winter conditions. Equipped with two different types spikes, which gives an even better grip with an ice coating, under different temperature conditions.

Also in the top, hit and the second most popular winter tire from Nokian:

The range is represented from 13 to 17 radius from the profile width in the range from 155 to 235. Rubber is equipped with spikes, tubeless, radial. A great grip on ice, snow and wet surface promises. In fact, it turns well only with snow and partly with moisture. The ice contributes to the skins, prevents successful braking. Another variety of the series - Nokian Nordman 7 Sun with radii from 15 to 18 and with a profile width to 285 is available specifically for SUVs.

2nd place. Tires Bridgestone

Bridgestone Winter Tires are available japanese company Since the 30s of the last century. Since then, models of cars and production technology have changed. The company produces several model lines of summer, all-season (velcro) and studded tires. The most popular models of winter tires - Blizzard and Ice Cruiser.

Inspected Winter Tires Bridgestone Blizzak VRX and DM

Bridgestone BLIZZAK VRX for passenger and DM for crossovers is considered the most universal rubber, very well-proven itself. Developed for durable service on complex icing coatings. A feature of these models is a clear instruction on fastening the wheels - they have an external and inner side for more efficient operation. The creators of the models of this series took care of the reliability of rubber coating. When the outer layer is erased, the porous surface does not allow the clutch for a long time. Bridgestone bus Blizzard serve long, remaining soft and elastic. Despite the complexity of the coverage of domestic roads, they are very resistant to natural features.

Also in the winter line tire bridgestone Blizzak is the popularity of the SPIKE-01 and SPIKE-02 model, which also deserves attention.

Created for even more complex climatic conditions. A new scheme for the location of spikes in 16 lines instead of the previous 12, increases the chances of maximum car stability. Winter tires Bridgestone Ice Cruiser repel moisture and have good resistant on the road. Rubber specially developed as multicomponent with the ability to hold spikes longer than other manufacturers. The latest model of the studded winter tires Bridgestone Ice Cruiser 7000 has proven itself among motorists and occupied the honorable place not only in our ranking, but in the whole world.

3rd place. Michelin tires

The French winter rubber manufacturer is quite popular throughout Russia. Mischlen winter tires have several linepecs specifically for harsh weather with a negative temperature regime.

MICHELIN X ICE Winter Tire Line is designed by the unique "APS: Adaptability" system. It allows rubber to fuse only in the right places, fixing the position of the car on the road. MICHELIN X ICE 3 Winter tires lamella are made in Z - shaped, shoulder zone with sharp edges. This allows you to get out of a car equipped with such rubber from any snowy "porridge", the wheels just grind the substance by throwing it back and pushing the car forward without driving.

Winter tire Michelin Iks Ice Nord 3 is equipped with smart spikes. With a large negative temperature, the rubber around the spike is grasped, harden and contributes to the best retention of spikes and greater aggressiveness on the road. This can increase the noise, but it saves the clutch. In general, the tire is rather soft and perfectly behaves on any snow-covered surface.

4th place. Tires Continental

Durable framework of products of the German manufacturer won the hearts of Russians in the 90s. The tires were put into the country along with used foreign cars. Their endurance made the products of the popular and gradually winter tires Continental entered the top three leaders in popularity.

Products include high-quality artificial rubber and silicates. The protector with a drainage pattern and a plurality of small drops on the protector is well derived fluid. The tire is equipped with rigid diamond-shaped checkers, which remarkably hold the car in turns.

Winter tires Continental Conny Viking Contact 6 are ideal for all-wheel drive cars. They easily cope with off-road, literally spreading snowpig porridge and holding the car from drift.

Excellent interact with asphalt, have an asymmetric protector, radii from 12 to 24. Created to save fuel and good handover on ice with the smoothness of the stroke. Large bumps, gives a good clutch on the ice, and the deep protector well jumps the snow-covered roads.

According to the reviews, the rubber is quite noisy and poorly pulls out of the drums with the snowy "porridge". But the good distribution of the tread zones, with a rather multiple amount of wear spikes, give a sense of safety and confident feelings behind the wheel.

5th place. Tires Cordiant

Unlike previous tire representatives, the winter tires Cordian have an average price category. They are available to most of the car owners of Russia, therefore there are more product reviews.

Winter tires Cordiant Polar

A series of winter tire cordiant Polar is performed both in a studded and unwanted form. Rubber is developed on the basis of Cordiant Polar precursors. It has an ornate pattern on the tread in the form of a snake, which allows you to freely get rid of moisture on the go. The tire is designed for 128 spikes in 4 rows. Longitudinal and transverse clutch, efficient braking and successful car management. The disadvantages include acoustic features and an increase in fuel consumption. Cordiant Parl 2 weakly pass along the snow-covered road, can contribute to a bulk in a sharp braking. The main reason for the purchase of many owners is an affordable price and a satisfactory number of spikes.

Cordiant Snow Cross - Rubber for compact and middle class cars. Stabilization of maneuverability is created due to the V-shaped pattern of the tread and the contact spot, which removes moisture from the tire. Tire Cordiant Snow Cross is not suitable for winter with air temperature above +5 degrees. This does not apply to the beginning of the offseason - despite the "porridge" on the roads, at night often freezing and the use of studded rubber is necessary. But if such a winter throughout the season, and the asphalt is not covered with snow at all, this model is not suitable for use. When driving on the road without snow cover creates loud noise, quickly wear out, the spikes fly rapidly.

6th place. Tires dunlop.

Winter tires Dunlop are less popular in Russia in comparing previous titans for car rubber. It has the widest range of models for harsh snow-covered winter. The wear resistance of tires of this brand allows you to successfully use them for several seasons. In total, the company has several popular series, each of which is divided into a list of models with the characteristics of the tread pattern and the tire structure.

Dunlop releases not enough good models of unsuccessful tires, such as MAXX SJ8, MAXX WM01.

Tire radii from 13 to 21, there are one-time sizes. High-quality rubber, withstands long-term trips at low temperatures. The minimum noise on the road, the rubber is not "duby".

But the most popular and best winter tire among the entire line is Dunlop SP Winter Ice 02 and Dunlop Grandtrek Ice 02

Studdered Winter Winter Winter Ice 02 for passenger cars and Grandtrek 02 for crossovers are well suitable for the region with harsh winter and difficulties on snow-covered roads. Rubber Winter Ice and Dunlop Grandtrek is equipped with 3D lamella "Maura-Ori" and a unique triangular pattern in the middle, effectively discharged moisture. Dunlop Winter tires have unique spikes with carbide cores. This makes them practically not killed on ice and effective in the fight against snowing road.

7th place. Tires Pirelli.

The manufacturer of the world in the world of tires for racing on the snow-covered area. Pirelli high-speed model is designed for speed up to 270 km / h. Schever modest models are designed to pass in bad weather in its various manifestations.

Produced by the innovative technology "Pirelli Dual Stud", which produced special double spikes, literally sealed into rubber. Pirelli Winter ice Zero. sharpened for rapid overclocking. The rest does not show the brake properties in the snow, quite noisy.

Equipped with hexagon spikes that are fastened to special flanges. Presented near 13 to 21 radius, for SUV cars. Pirelli formula Ice is the "long-playing" model of the manufacturer. Losing or damaging reliable spikes is almost unrealistic, so the winter tires of Pirelli retain their properties for a long time.

8th place. Tires Hankook.

One of the best, adapted under the variety of rigid climate of Russia, are winter tires Hancuck. The special structure of the lamellae, the snowflake on the tread and "Husky traces" in aggregate with an elegant functional pattern of the protectors won the hearts of Russian motorists. Finally affected the popularity of the available price of rubber.

The Hankook Winter tire line has 14 models, each of them is developed for certain conditions and are created according to customer desires.

Hankook Winter I Pike gained good popularity among car enthusiasts and well strengthened on the market, typing its fans. The line also has a sports version of Hankook Winter I Pike RS and Hankook Winter I Pike RS +.

With sharp braking, winter tires Winter I Pike "grab" the road, not letting the car in the UZ and reliably holding the apparatus in place. There are end-to-end drainage and twice the number of treads checkers. Externally, the drawing is very elegant, which also clings the view of buyers.

9th place. Kama tires

Despite the active efforts of foreign manufacturers of winter rubber, they cannot fully understand the complex climate of Russian roads. In this issue, the expert is the domestic plant "Nizhnekamskshina". Over the years, they produce reliable, inexpensive and practical tires for modern cars.

The only option for winter tires KAMAs that deserve attention to:

Kama 519 tires do not have intricate drawings or complex spike systems. They are designed by the Finnish system "Irbis" - one of the most reliable studded rubber in the world. Winter tires of Kama Euro 519 have a spikes of 2.45 millimeters, reliably planted into high-quality rubber.

Modern rubber used in the manufacture of products perfectly adapts under difficult weather conditions. Winter tire Kama Euro 519 has a two-layer protector. The duration of the operational period of this model is achieved due to two-layerness, where the lower layer is solid, holding the spikes, and the top is softer and capable of varying depending on the type of road surface. This model is the most adapted to all types of roads. The only discontent comes in responses regarding the car charter, "wound" into such tires on the ice. But the cost and braking qualities are on the level suitable for most buyers.

10th place. Tires Yokohama.

The uniqueness of this manufacturer for Russian consumers is the universality of the range. The company produces not only tires for passenger cars, but also wheels for agricultural equipment, airplanes, etc. Regarding modern methods of production, this is one of the leading leaders all over the world. Analytics Yokohama is based on test drives, scientific study of the properties of rubber and customer feedback.

Yokohama winter tires are popular among Russian car owners. The use of asymmetric tread pattern makes tires as resistant to slip and well affects the adhesion with the road.

In the ranking of the studded winter tires Yokohama Ice Guard Ig35 Plus

These tires are launched on sale since 2013. During this time, the overall view of the quality of the tires has already managed to work out. The wide middle in the drawing of the tread favorably affects stability during maneuvers. Modern 3D lamellas also contribute to high-quality work tires on the road surface with ice and snow. Of the shortcomings, it quickly loses the spikes.

Let's summarize the ranking:

All listed winter tires are the best in their classes for the winter. The rating was compiled primarily on the surveys of owners, reviews on forums and total compared characteristics.
