Heart surgery
Toyota Mark II arrived to the author of this project with a standard in-line 6-cylinder "aspirated" 1G-FE with a capacity of 140 Horse power... Of course, this engine from the largest Japanese automaker is considered "eternal", and its characteristics are quite enough for city driving and high-speed overtaking on the highway. But sooner or later, power and torque always begins to be lacking, so it was decided to replace the "native" motor with a more productive and suitable for tuning 1JZ-GTE, a unit famous in the circles of technical improvements.

The 2.5-liter twin-shaft "six" has been produced for more than one year, and therefore during production it received many modifications. Early versions of this engine were equipped with distributed fuel injection and two CT12A turbines, but the "restyled" versions received a different cylinder head with VVT-i system and the progressive BEAMS technology at that time, and most importantly, two parallel small "snails" were replaced by a single CT15B supercharger of higher performance.

The engine of the new sample - standard for the flagship version of the Mark II JZX100 Tourer V - has better response at high revs, but the original "JZ" is more flexible and produces more torque in the middle of the range. It was necessary to make the right choice.

Initially, this cherry "sedan" was built for everyday driving, and not for racing, so a version of a turbo engine with two "snails" was ordered from the Land of the Rising Sun, which was then installed in the JZ Service workshop, well-known among coastal lovers of "mark-like" ones. And this step was only the beginning of a long journey.

In the struggle for uniqueness
And then large-scale work began to bring the chassis, appearance and interior in line with the new engine capabilities. The engine itself received a GReddy frontal intercooler, a non-standard gas pump, a Blitz turbo timer, a sports exhaust system A'PEXi N1 and intake kit from the same Japanese manufacturer. The standard "machine" was supplemented with a selector with step-by-step scheme switching modes from the "Markov" configuration Tourer V, and when working with a conventional non-blocking drive axle gearbox, welding was required. As they say, cheap and cheerful, or rather, simple and practical.

The main new undercarriage is the HKS HyperMax adjustable coilover kit, respected by many drifting enthusiasts. Plus, under the bottom there are already stiffening struts from TRD, but the author of the project has been looking for a "decent" element under the hood for quite a long time - and now a new upper strut is waiting for its turn to be installed.

The logical continuation of work on the change driving performance burgundy sedan was the installation of non-standard "rollers". The choice was made in favor of collapsible alloy wheels from VeilSide, which have fitted 225 / 40ZR18 tires at the front and 235 / 40ZR18 at the rear.

The installation of custom wheels required some widening of the arches, which became one of the important parts of the external improvements. The head optics standard for the "hundredth" Mark II gave way to elements from Vertex with diode "angel eyes" and tinted diffusers, and alternative Clear World turn signals appeared. In particular, "dori king" has repeatedly performed in demonstration races on exactly the same "hundredth" Mark II, which was built by his friend and colleague Toshiharu Kazama.

The carbon "blade" of the Rasty Meister R spoiler, attached to the carbon fiber trunk lid from the same manufacturer, also looks interesting. The hood from the Stage 21 studio with standard air ducts for better cooling motor, complemented by special sports external locks.

Quite by chance, the guys from Vladivostok also had the opportunity to visit the tuning studio Kazama Auto, known in the Land of the Rising Sun and beyond, whose founder and leader Toshiharu Kazama is considered an important figure in the world culture of "sideways driving". The ex-racer of the D1GP series and an engineer who has devoted his entire adult life to motorsport and technical improvements, meeting with the Russians was no less surprised than the guests themselves: a full copy of his own project looked at Kazamu-san from their photos!

Some time before this meeting, the owner of our car pondered for a long time about completing the external image of his own Toyota Mark II, pondering the design of the oracle and looking at decent examples on the Web. So two similar sedans were found in the "hundredth" body made by Toshiharu Kazama, differing from each other precisely by stickers and color.     These cars were released from 1988 to the very end of 1995. There were two different body versions - a hardtop and a sedan. And their difference was that the hardtops did not have frames at the glass doors. Plus, the differences were seen in the optics and in the radiator grille. From 1992 to 1995, only sedans were released. And by the way, there are new engines. They were equipped with rear-wheel drive versions with automatic and mechanics.
