Despite the fact that there are two motors, both of them are modifications of an in-line three-cylinder gasoline atmospheric unit with a volume of 999 cubic centimeters. Despite the modest volume, two camshafts and a modern fuel delivery system allowed the engineers to squeeze 60 and 75 Horse power at 5000 and 6200 rpm, respectively. The engine torque is the same - 75 Nm at 3000 rpm crankshaft in a minute. Due to the simple and low-power units, the small car cannot boast of good dynamic performance. Acceleration to hundreds, on average, will take 13.5-14.4 seconds from mechanical box and 14.9-16.7 seconds with a robot. But, thanks to its modest volume, the car is quite economical. Fuel consumption Skoda Citigo will be approximately 5.5 liters of gasoline per hundred at a city pace with frequent acceleration and braking, 3.8 liters on the highway and 4.4 liters of gasoline per hundred in the combined cycle.

The G-TEC CNG 1.0 gas installation is not so quick in acceleration (16.3 seconds), but it manages to overcome 165 kilometers per hour. The total gas consumption per hundred kilometers of track does not exceed 4.5 cubic meters.

To the question of cost

The price of the updated Skoda Sitigo will start at 7.7 thousand euros. But this is the price only for Czech fans of the native brand. For other countries, the cost will be about the same. As already indicated, the appearance of a city car in Russia is unlikely.

On the roads of Rome - then, however, it was called Volkswagen up !. But now that I'm driving new Skoda Citigo, and in a five-door version, I treat this model in a completely different way. If in Italy Russian journalists looked at up! as another toy of the damned capitalists, now the situation is different - it turned out that Skoda Citigo, unlike the same up !, with 99% probability will be delivered to Russia! It is Citigo that will become the most affordable Skoda model, and it will also be sold with an automatic transmission.

About the "machine" is said for a reason. At present big problem Skoda Fabia, which is noticeably larger than Citigo, is the presence automatic box gears only on the most expensive version with a 1.6 liter engine. Which costs 549,000 rubles! And this, for a second, for a car without air conditioning and many other joys in life. And what do you order an honest young girl to do in this case? That is why the Russian representative office of Skoda is looking forward to the appearance of the "automatic" Citigo, which will cost, approximately, less than 500 thousand.

Although I must say right away that the word "automatic" in relation to the Skoda Citigo can be used with some amendment. After all, this car will not receive the usual torque converter automatic transmission, but a completely new robotic box... We are not talking about a transmission with two clutches DSG, but about a cheap "robot" with one clutch, which is created on the basis of standard "mechanics". But how does this box work, will it become machine twitch when switching and, most importantly, will the gearbox be reliable? There are no answers to these questions yet - the production of transmissions with the SQ100 index will begin only in the summer.

Skoda's plans to conquer the world are very big. If last year the Czechs managed to sell almost 880 thousand cars, then in six years they want to reach the level of 1.5 million cars. Citigo has a big role to play in making these visions come true. Although you can't make one and a half million Citigo. That is why a new affordable Skoda will be presented at the Paris Motor Show in September, which will take the place between Fabia and Octavia (presumably, it will be called Rapid), and in 2013 there will be a new generation Octavia... Although so far this is secret information - do not try to tell anyone about it.

We were given cars for testing not only in a three-door, but also in a five-door body. But do not think that the five-door Citigo is more spacious - the first impression in this case is deceiving. Both the one and the other model are absolutely identical in length, wheelbase size and spaciousness in the cabin. By the way, about the space. Usually, you are afraid to use this word in relation to "bugs" of class "A". But it turned out that Citigo is not so "mini" as it might seem. I agree that you can't cross your legs in the rear seats, and the trunk volume is only 251 liters. But in this case, the devil is in comparison. It turns out that the trunk is here ... the largest in the segment! For comparison, the Citroen C1 has a volume of 130 liters, Chevrolet spark- 170 l, and at Kia picanto- 200 l. If we add rear seats, then the compartment volume of the Citigo will increase to 959 liters! And this is also a record.

In the Czech Republic, the difference in price between the three- and five-door versions of Citigo is 10,000 kroons, or about 15,000 rubles. It is assumed that in Eastern Europe (and, apparently, in Russia), the five-door modification will account for up to 75% of sales. In Western Europe, preferences will be divided equally

In addition, the list of options will show decorative panels and colored stickers to help make your car extraordinary. And the buyer of Skoda Citigo will be able to order a large sliding sunroof or a mechanical blocking of the gearshift lever. Are the Czechs really afraid that Citigo will be hijacked?

And Skoda Citigo turned out to be ... spacious. For its size, of course. At least two adults in the front seats do not support each other with their shoulders and are not afraid to breathe in sync. But what can I say - Skoda is generally the most wide car in the segment! Let's not extol Citigo, though. It is inconvenient to use the trunk for transporting large things here - when the second row of seats is folded, a large step is formed. Volkswagen has solved this problem simply - up! has a double boot floor, and when the seats are folded, a flat platform is obtained. But Skoda Citigo is a more budgetary model in comparison with up !, and it turns out that such "bells and whistles" are not supposed to be.

There are other questions about equipping the car, and we are now talking about Citigo in the maximum (!) Configuration (basic versions are completely empty: chair, steering wheel and pedals). For example, the upper part of the doors here has no cladding at all - just bare metal. This is largely why they close with such a “cheap” sound. Or the power window - there is only one on the driver's side! That is, the person sitting behind the wheel cannot personally close the glass on the passenger side, for this he will have to stretch through the entire cabin. And on the second row of seats there are no "glass windows" at all. There are only sliding glasses that are fixed with a latch. And here are other examples of total economy: the headrest cannot be adjusted, because it is integrated into the back of the chair itself, the steering wheel is adjustable only in one direction (in the 21st century, this is generally bad form), driver's seat does not shine with a large number of adjustments, moreover, the backrest angle is measured in steps.

But while reading these lines, one must constantly remember that we are now talking about a class “A” car, which, by definition, should be simple and, most importantly, cheap. Although one can already argue about the simplicity of such "kids" - the same Kia Picanto is equipped with climate control, heated steering wheel and similar excesses. And Skoda Citigo has a lot of "bells and whistles": a roof with a panoramic view, parking sensors, navigator. A strange combination with doors without paneling and one power window, isn't it?

There are many things in the salon that advanced girls should appreciate. For example, there is a special hook for women's handbags on the glove compartment, and there is also a convenient stand for storing an iPhone or other phone of a similar size. Do you think it doesn't matter? Still, it has - the problem "where to put the phone" torments many owners of small cars

The navigator, by the way, is unusual here. Instead of a large and beautiful screen in the center of the dashboard, a portable "gadget" is offered for Skoda Citigo, which is installed in front of the windshield. At first glance, such a system is no different from navigators sold in electronics stores. Unless it is expensive (you need to focus on 12-15 thousand rubles). But it turns out that this system is deeply integrated into the car - parking sensors are displayed on the "Shkoda" navigator, music system, on-board computer and much more. In addition, the navigator can be removed and used when walking around an unfamiliar city (the batteries will last for about two hours). Is it worth overpaying for this? Everyone decides for himself.

The engine situation here is the same as that of the Volkswagen up !. There is only one - a three-cylinder with a volume of 1.0 liters, 60 or 75 hp. Someone may think that 60 "horses" for modern car not enough. But this is not the case. In the megalopolis, even such a “herd” is enough for Citigo! Due to its low weight, the 60-strong version of the Citigo can take off and humiliate other road users at speeds up to 60-80 km / h. True, one amendment must be made here - we are now talking about a car with a manual transmission. Versions with a "robot" are likely to be more phlegmatic.

But which motor should you prefer? Many of my colleagues assure that there is practically no difference between them, besides, the torque of the motors is the same (95 N ∙ m, which can be obtained in the range of 3000-4300 rpm). But still 15 "horses" for such a "baby" are never superfluous ... Yes, with a quiet ride in the city you will not feel the difference between the two motors. And yet it seemed to me that behind the wheel of the 75-horsepower Citigo you feel a little calmer. Psychological effect? Quite possible. But here you were the first to leave the traffic light, here you climbed the hill without any problems, and on the highway you confidently accelerated from 60 km / h and overtook the truck. It seems that all the same can be done on the less powerful Citigo. But the motor will have to work harder, and it’s not a fact that in the right situation his “horses” will be enough. In general, I vote for 75 hp, even though such cars will be more expensive (by about 15 thousand rubles, at least in the Czech Republic, the difference between different motors is 10,000 kroons).

Skoda Citigo, as well as Volkswagen up! and Seat Mii, received five stars in EuroNCAP crash tests. For these kids, this is just a great indicator. Moreover, in addition to four airbags, Citigo also has some “adult” security systems that no competitor offers in Russia yet. For example, ESP or City Safe Drive. The latter can automatically brake at a speed of 5 to 30 km / h if the driver is distracted and does not notice the danger. According to the "Shkodovites", at a speed of up to 20 km / h, the electronics keep the car intact. And if the car went a little faster, then the severity of the accident will be minimized.

How are things going with comfort? And here we were in for a big surprise - it's quiet in the Citigo salon! The three-cylinder motor is almost inaudible. And not only when idling, but also in the mid-speed zone! Vibration from three cylinders? It's minimal and not annoying at all. But the smoothness of the course can be assessed in different ways. If you are used to driving big sedans, then Citigo will seem like a "stool" to you. But when compared with other cars "A" class, the picture is different. You already realize that the Citigo has quite a comfortable suspension that can handle most holes, especially if you slow down in front of them. And all this is combined with good handling - according to this indicator, Citigo is not inferior to the same Fabia. And maybe even surpasses her.

And what will be the conclusion? Despite the shortcomings and simplicity in the interior design,SkodaCitigo turned out to be a pretty good car. And very roomy. However, to answer the question, would I buy such a car for my wife or mistress, I will only after the announcement Russian prices... And there are none yet. No prices, no mistress.
