Back in March 2016, the presenters of the YouTube channel under the name Big test-drive showed us a domestic novelty - a conceptual model of Lada Vesta Cross.

A year and a half later, a video of Lada Vesta Cross appeared on their channel Big test drive, where the presenters showed us the production version of the car.

The hosts of the program Sergey Stillavin and Rustam Vakhidov took a novelty of the domestic auto industry for a test - LADA Vesta Cross SW and tested it for several hundred kilometers. In their video, they are ready to tell us about their emotions, impressions and everything that they noticed and what they were surprised at in the new LADA VESTA SW CROSS. Expect information in the release about how the car drives, how it keeps on the road and how it drives. In total, the video lasts a little over 20 minutes. Go!

Big test drive Lada Vesta SV Cross

Here is the video from the channel, which you can watch below:

Now let's take a look at everything in detail. From the very beginning of the video, we were shown that the presenters do not hide their obvious delight from the model. The car turned out to be the most beautiful, the highest quality and generally the best among all cars domestic production... Car rides!

The video begins as usual with technical information, the presenters tell what kind of car they have on the test, what kind of car it has, how it differs from its brother - the usual station wagon West. Next is a little information about, with which the leading BTC were taken for the test. After that, the guys talk about and, also, rear disc brakes. The guys say with a bit of irony that we finally got the rear disc brakes. In general, a little irony and sarcasm and we will learn all the main details about the station wagon - trunk volume, ground clearance, etc.

The fact that Russia is historically a country of sedans is known to everyone, as well as the fact that recently the fashion has switched to crossovers, and it seems that this is not bad, but does everyone need an "average scary" elevated wagon (or hatchback) called a crossover when on the market appeared the beauty Lada Vesta SV? The ground clearance even for the regular version is 178 mm, Creta is only a centimeter higher, and the Vesta SW Cross version does have an impressive 200 mm under the body, but we will return to this choice very soon when reviewing the cross version of Vesta, and now we will focus on sedans.

People, why do you need a sedan? That's really, after a pickup and a convertible, the most uncomfortable body type. And there is no need to talk about "prestige", what is the prestige in budget sedan? Here in Mercedes-Benz S-class there is prestige, but not in Solaris.

What to buy instead of a sedan? Station wagon! He is useful even when ugly, and if he is handsome, then the choice is obvious.

Just look at our experimental, this is the most beautiful Lada ever! And then they kept repeating about Togliatti, that the place is damned ... It's a normal place, if you work properly.

Thanks to Steve Mattin for the design: a floating drop roof is a rarity in the budget segment, and this move seriously sets the car apart and raises its price in the eyes of consumers.

There are changes in the interior of the car, compared to the sedan: a comfortable armrest with a box appeared on the first row, the instruments have new scales, but the second row got more attention. Then there was an opportunity to proudly sit with my head up, the ceiling became higher and even with a height of 188 cm I can sit comfortably, even if I sit behind myself, everything is fine in the sedan in the Vesta legroom. Another of the joys of the second row is a heated seat, a USB input for charging devices, a 12-volt outlet and a very comfortable armrest with two cup holders. Heating should soon appear on the sedan, but the space above your head will not appear for sure.

Let's move on to the fun part - the trunk. VAZ employees did not promise a record volume, but they did promise unprecedented usability for the class. And they didn't cheat. There is a double floor with two organizers, hooks for bags, fasteners for a net, a specially designated place for a washer canister! There is also a very convenient luggage rack with rails on the sides, even in cars whose cost is five times the cost of our sample, this is not always the case.

Of the minuses of the trunk, the volume can be noted, it is only 480 liters, like in a sedan, but using these liters is much more convenient.

Since a car is not just a beautiful thing, but also a means of transportation, it's time to go.

For the test, we got a version with a 1.8 liter engine. 122 h.p. paired with a Renault manual transmission. A lot has been said about how the Vesta sedan behaves on the road, in short, it drives very well. What is it in good roads, and for the bad. With a station wagon, the situation is the same, despite the extra pounds, handling did not suffer, the car also willingly "dives" into turns, "floats" irregularities and "stands" on a straight line. Separately, competitors have these qualities, for example, Logan is the king of primers and broken asphalt, the Polo sedan is good at flat road and Vesta feels good everywhere.

There are complaints about the dynamics of the car, from the 1.8 liter engine. you expect more "agility", and he drives like competitors with 1.6 liter engines, but he does not forget to eat for the entire volume. With a dynamics level of 10.9 s. in acceleration to 100 km / h, a consumption of 11.6 liters per hundred is a bit too much.

It is impossible not to mention the bold minus in the form robotic box gears with one clutch, it is not convenient to operate and is slow, here Lada has nothing to oppose to competitors' automatic machines. So go for a mechanic, it's from Renault and works well.

Let's move on to the most important thing - prices. The basic station wagon Lada Vesta SV with a 1.6 liter engine. 106 h.p. and mechanics is estimated at 639,900 rubles. This is 22,000 rubles more than for a similarly equipped sedan. Maximum complete set costs 804,900 rubles for a 1.8 liter engine. with a robotic box.

Price - from 763 900 rub. On sale - from June 2018

The total length of the test drive run is 9.5 thousand kilometers. Driving mode - at the limit of the capabilities of drivers and cars. The quality of the roads - from perfect asphalt to broken dirt roads. Considering what the Vestam had to experience during the run, this forward march may well be equated to a year of operation in normal, "civil" conditions. From the whole three-week tour we got only the final part, but the most interesting one! Our crew had to get from St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad, passing through the territory of the two Baltic states - Latvia and Lithuania, and then crossing the whole of Belarus from west to east and finishing in Moscow. And before the finish line, the car had to be revised at the service station.

"Lada Vesta", which we boarded in St. Petersburg, have already managed to go through the baptism of fire with hail, hurricane and off-road. All these misfortunes that befell the previous teams of autobloggers and journalists, the cars withstood with honor. Only after driving along monstrous dirt roads near Rybinsk on some Vestas did I have to pay attention alloy wheels- vibration began to be felt at speed. As a result, several wheels, perfectly preserved externally, but no longer amenable to balancing, had to be replaced. And all because the fantastically energy-intensive Vesta Cross suspension allows you to drive "all the money" even on a dead surface, which is why unsprung masses are the first to suffer.

The chassis and "body kit" of the cross-sedan are exactly the same as that of the station wagon of the same name. The kit includes new springs and shock absorbers to increase ground clearance per inch, up to an impressive 203 mm, and the aforementioned 17-inch "cast" with Pirelli tires. This also includes a stainless steel double-barreled gun welded onto the muffler, original bumpers with decorative linings (these linings are not removable, so if they are damaged, you will have to change the bumper entirely) and a clip-on skirt made of unpainted plastic on the fenders and sills. This is to the question of whether it is possible to put such a "body kit" on the usual "Vesta". No.

The difference in price between just Lada Vesta and Vesta with the Cross prefix, depending on the version, is 53 - 63 thousand rubles. If you choose between a "cross" sedan and a station wagon, then the cost of the latter will be 32 thousand more expensive - this is the standard surcharge for the two-volume body of "Vesta".

And the station wagon has to wait longer: the Vesta SW Cross turned out to be so popular that there was already a line for it! Additional capacities are allocated for the Vesta Cross sedan at the Izhevsk plant, so it will be easier to buy it. At least there should be no queues at the start of sales.

The 2018 Vesta Cross also has one more advantage over the station wagon - the sedan is lighter. Hence the dynamics are slightly better, fuel consumption is slightly lower. Throughout the entire run, we kept it clearly at the level of 8.4 l / 100 km. And this despite the fact that we had to drive at the maximum permissible speed, and in some places exceed it: for example, on the Lithuanian autobahns, even at 160 km / h, we could barely keep up with local drivers. I liked the tandem of the 1.8 engine and the renowned "mechanics" (there were no other versions) on the track: the engine "spins" well, only the 6th gear is not enough for it, and the 5th does not turn on perfectly. And in urban traffic jams, the 122-strong unit lacks "lower classes" - here a "robot" would be preferable, especially since they say at AvtoVAZ that they have finally brought it to their senses - with the new firmware it should carry much faster and not annoy with jerks.

The ergonomics of the torpedo are five. I just lacked the ability to withdraw to on-board computer current speed readings: the speedometer scale with the "proprietary" orange scale is not very informative. An expensive media system with navigation is a waste of money. The menu is with small print, the touch screen responds every other time, there is no sound, and there are only CIS countries in the maps - Latvia and Lithuania had to go through the navigator in the smartphone. Plus there are problems with the software: our standard navigation suddenly "died", and an hour later it just as suddenly turned on. But the climate control unit has been successfully solved: there is no overload with buttons, and the large buttons of the air conditioner and air recirculation built into the “knobs” of temperature and blowing speed allow you to turn them on practically without looking. By the way, the airflow itself is very delicate here: the air conditioner cools the interior, not the riders.

The salon was assembled conscientiously: for the entire run, the hard plastic did not emit a single squeak. Noise isolation is surprisingly (the budget segment) is good: even at high speed, when the regular music is no longer heard (the sound is disgusting here, and with increasing volume it only gets worse), the driver and front passenger can conduct a dialogue without raising their voices. But the right rear-view mirror "walking" from the streams of incoming air is an obvious "jamb" of either designers or manufacturers. The wiper blades should be immediately replaced with good frameless ones - the stock ones are already "striped" from the beginning. Well, up to a heap, put an insect net behind the radiator grill, as well as engine protection (the factory one is made of "foil" and does not cover the crankcase), fuel and brake lines.

On a run of 9050 km, the car was driven for diagnostics to a Lada dealer in Smolensk. Having hung the car on a lift, the workshop master immediately discovered a malfunction - the shock absorber boot of the left front strut was destroyed. Considering how and on what the cars were driven, this is not surprising. I was surprised by something else: it was not possible to identify any more shortcomings, not counting the radiator honeycomb beaten by midges. Even the oil level in the engine, which many West owners blame for the oil, was slightly above average. There is practically no waste. Maybe the oil was topped up on the way? The representatives of AvtoVAZ, who accompanied us on the run, assured that the oil in the engine was native, factory-made. If so, then one can only rejoice for our manufacturer. Perhaps this is the first domestic car which I would recommend for a purchase.

  • Ideal suspension for all roads, stylish design, attractive price.
  • Weak wipers, no LED DRLs, uncomfortable driver's seat.

Driving

The suspension does not notice pits at all. The 1.8 engine is quite lucky, and the Vesta is controlled well even at maximum speed.

Salon

Nice design, good "Shumka", good ergonomics, but the standard media center is terrible.

Comfort

More spacious than many classmates, although from behind the tall riders will support the ceiling.

Security

There is a regular ESP and 4 airbags. Euro NCAP tests have not been conducted.

Price

With the appearance in the VAZ line Lada car Vesta SW Cross sellers do not get bored in Lada dealerships. There are more than enough people who want to try on a novelty. There is little surprising in this - AvtoVAZ has not pleased fans of the brand for a long time similar machines... The only exception, perhaps, is the Vesta sedan.

The brutal Cross station wagon is a very nice derivative of it. High ground clearance, the recognizable X-shaped stamping on the sidewalls of the body, plastic linings on the arches and sills and spectacular bumpers in the front and rear - how can a person who is not indifferent to Lada brand? Prices, however, could be more humane, but there are loans and other financial instruments. As a result, every day there are more and more Lada Vesta SW Cross on Belarusian roads. But today we are not talking about her, but about the second new product of AvtoVAZ, which debuted simultaneously with the Vesta SW Cross, but due to its less spectacular appearance, it was in the shadow of a pseudo-crossover.

Speech, of course, about the Vesta SW station wagon, which is undeservedly bypassed by the attention of journalists and autobloggers who have devoted the lion's share of their reports to Vesta SW Cross. Someone will probably say: yes, this is the same car, only the ground clearance is different, the linings along the contour and the bumpers are different. And he will be right, but only partially, since Vesta SW and Vesta SW Cross are more "twins" than twins. And despite the apparent similarity, they have more than enough differences - they will be discussed.

Let's start with the main argument - prices. For example, Vesta SW in the Comfort version as of April 13 in the dealership "starts" from 23.960 rubles, which is 4240 rubles. cheaper than the most affordable Cross. From my bell tower - the amount for a Lada buyer is significant. Comfort, of course, is inferior to Luxe in terms of equipment, but it contains the necessary minimum. These are front seats with three-stage heating, air conditioning, multifunction steering wheel, and electric and heated exterior mirrors.

In an amicable way, for complete happiness in the Comfort configuration, I personally would lack only "fog lights". They can be set as additional option for 840 rubles. coupled with a heated windshield, 16-diameter alloy wheels. At the same time 3400 rubles. you will still save.

The rest of the car is there, the engine and transmission are the same as the starting SW Cross in Luxe. The same situation with systems active safety, the set of which is identical for cars.

A station wagon in Luxe already costs 25,880 rubles. Actually, such a car with a proven and reliable 1.6 engine was provided to me for a test drive. In the color "Phantom" the station wagon, shimmering in the sun with all the colors of the rainbow, looks very presentable, although slightly heavier than the SW Cross - the absence of plastic overlays, visually enlarging wheel arches in the front and in the back. However, as the operation of the "second" and "third" VW Golfs, "124s" Mercedes in plastic "foliage" has shown at one time, such a body kit is a double-edged sword: on the one hand, it protects against external damage, on the other - underneath is an ideal environment for the development of corrosion. This is unlikely to stop the first owner, but time will tell how things will turn out.

The station wagon trim in the Luxe version is pleasing to the eye. I don't know why, but the Lada SW Cross has obvious problems with the combination of seat upholstery and decorative inserts in the door panels. It is difficult to guess who came up with the idea of making gray door trims in orange cars with orange seats, and orange ones for silver cars. In an ordinary station wagon, everything is perfectly combined: gray-beige, brown non-marking inserts in the seats and gray-brown door inserts.

Otherwise, everything is almost like that of the SW Cross, with the exception of the instrument panel, which in a regular SW does not hurt the eye with its variegation. Generally salon station wagon Lada Vesta SW is surprisingly comfortable and ergonomic. Having traveled on a dozen foreign cars, I can only reproach him with hard plastic, both in appearance and to the touch, however, I'm not going to gnaw it, besides, let's not forget how much the car costs.

In place of the roof grip on the driver's side, there is a convenient case for glasses. The ceiling handles themselves are equipped with a microlift, the armrest is in place, and its magnet, in my opinion, is a very good solution.

At the bottom of the center console are cupholders and a phone shelf, and on the overhead grip behind the driver there is also a coat hook, which I really miss on the Duster. In a word, the creators of Lada Vesta SW took care of the person behind the wheel and his passengers wonderfully well. And they even overdid it with the organization of the space for the cargo.

The idea with a double floor is not at all original, a cover for protecting the loading edge of the trunk will not be superfluous, but with the back of the rear sofa folded down, you will not get a flat floor, and I would put all these trays in the garage and forget. Station wagons are for that and station wagons to carry more luggage than a sedan or hatchback. In general, the solution with a double floor is not for everybody, with a full trunk it will be very boring to get a "spare" in the rain on the highway.

Now a few words about how it all drives with the VAZ 1.6 engine, to which, unlike the "fashionable" 1.8, there are practically no serious questions either after 40,000, or after 100,000 or 200,000 km. 15 minutes of getting used to the VAZ gearbox, long shift lever strokes and very soft clutch - and on city streets you feel like driving a Lada Vesta SW no worse than a fish in water. City driving in most cases takes place in 4th gear. The 106-horsepower engine is enough for the car both for measured driving and for infrequent acceleration over short distances. Of course, you can't argue with the BMW 325 on the Vesta SW 1.6, but in the company Polo sedan, Solaris, Rio and Logan nimble wagon - your guy.

By the way, in urban spaces and at speeds up to 70-80 km / h for the Vesta SW soundproofing, I would put a solid "four" on a five-point system. Koreans "smoke" on the sidelines in terms of noise and softness of the suspension. The view from the driver's seat in the Lada Vesta SW is also good, despite the station wagon body. In the parking lot, newcomers behind the wheel will find the rear parking sensors very useful, but in an amicable way, I would change the scanty radio tape recorder to a multimedia device with a large screen and a rear-view camera.

Taking into account the gasoline becoming more expensive every week, it would be unfair to ignore the "appetite" of new items in various modes of operation. The test car has not yet been run in, the mileage counter shows only 165 km, there is 95 gasoline in the tank, and Vesta SW and I are going out of town. 50 km on the M1 one way, 50 back. The average speed is 95-100 km / h, the maximum speed is 129 km / h in those areas where such driving is free. The result is 7.0 l / 100 km. The result is decent, but it's a track.

I reset the on-board computer - let's see what the real "appetite" of the Vesta SW 1.6 is in the combined cycle, mixing driving along the Moscow Ring Road with arrivals to the city. Outside the window, noon, there are no traffic jams yet - and after 100 km on the BK scoreboard 7.4 liters. And this is already a result worth paying attention to. In similar modes, the turbodiesel Duster consumes about 6.5 liters, but that is a diesel with all the ensuing moments, and under the hood of the Vesta SW - gasoline engine from the series could not be easier.

Where did the 13 liters in the urban cycle come from on the same unfinished Vesta Cross with a 1.8 engine from my colleagues - it is not yet clear. Maybe they only drive through traffic jams, which is quite possible when the working day is from 9.00 to 18.00 and rush hours are our everything. I'll try it too. At 16.45 hours, the BC is reset to zero, and from Kamennaya Gorka I have to make my way to the street. Machine builders at Matusevich, Pritytsky, Orlovskaya, Surganov, Radial and Kabushkin, having tasted all the delights of driving at rush hour. Already at 17.00 the city justifies its "hopes". A lot of cars, the speed of movement is "zero", the figures of fuel consumption are growing before our eyes. The marks of 8.0 l / 100 km, 9.0 l / 100 km, 9.5 l / 100 km were passed, and I still did not get to the intersection with Independence Avenue. But it is there that the most trash can be found.

I cross the Surganov-Nezalezhnosti intersection with a mark of 11.1 l / 100 km. There are fewer cars, and fuel consumption stops growing. I drive up to the car factory already from 10.9 l / 100 km. Before dealership quite a bit, the consumption does not have time to decrease more. Taking into account the nature of traffic jams, the result is acceptable and fair. But than driving all the time in such conditions, I would prefer a subway or a bicycle to a car. They would work faster and more economically. However, it is also difficult without a car in modern realities.

Her real ground clearance 19 cm on an empty car in the area of the lower part of the protection engine compartment, as you can see in the photo below, without any problems it allows you to overcome city road bumps and park at the curb without fear of damaging the front bumper.

By the way, almost 24 cm from the ground to the bumper, and this is for an ordinary station wagon. At the back, the picture is no worse. So is Cross needed or is it better to save money? After all, outside the city, off-road, the station wagon also feels great. With a front-wheel drive on a rampage in their right mind, no one will climb, even if you put the tires "angrier" standard.

Primers and forest paths are quite tough for him if a reasonable driver is behind the wheel, but on highways and when maneuvering at high speeds Lada Vesta SW I personally, who have already traveled about 1000 km in both cars, liked it a little, but more. The hard Cross, despite the 17th discs, holds the road a little worse in extreme modes, but in a regular station wagon everything is okay. Moreover, I would like to separately note the work of ESC (exchange rate stability system), the settings of which in Vesta SW can be the envy of all budget foreign cars.

As a result, after spending one day with the Vesta SW, I can say with confidence that this car was undeservedly lost in the shadow of the Lada Vesta SW Cross. To me, who has always gravitated towards station wagon bodies, Vesta SW seemed to be perhaps the most balanced and interesting car among "state employees" of this class with a manual transmission. It costs reasonable money, does not ask for overpayment for a brand, image, etc., does not consume a lot of fuel, is simple and unpretentious in operation and is not badly protected from corrosion. As for a modest appearance, somewhere this is even a plus, but if there is a desire to stand out from the crowd, there are many solutions for Vesta.

The editors would like to thank authorized dealer Lada in the Republic of Bashkortostan to the company "Avtopromservice" for the car provided for the test

Judging cynically - only in terms of money - the station wagon puts the Cross on its shoulder blades with an advantage of 116 thousand. The "off-road" option is not cheaper than 755,900 rubles, while the SW is available for 639,900 - only 32,000 more expensive than a sedan of the same filling. But there is a nuance: "Crosses" are not yet released in available trim levels, the price list starts immediately with the highest performance Luxe. And SW begins with Comfort, where there are no side airbags, foglights, a double boot floor, heated windshield, light and rain sensors, climate control ... On the other hand, a person hardened by Zhiguli will safely classify all these things as excesses. And for a comfortable life in "Comfort", even against the background of foreign cars, there is a lot: a pair of pillows, a stabilization system with ABS and traction control, steering wheel tilt and reach, central locking with a folding key, heated seats, electric windows in a circle, air conditioning, music and even cruise control. Therefore, the first point is sent to the more affordable, but not poor SW.

Vesta SW

Vesta SW Cross

At the launch of the sedan, AVTOVAZ gave the right to the first night of sales of Vesta to the best dealers. In the case of station wagons, this practice was abandoned. Pre-order will be issued in any company showroom, "live" cars are expected by the end of October

Trunk: 3: 2

The difference in billing persists as the cargo compartments are completely identical. But for the trunks, both Vestas get two points. Barely restrained himself not to add three. After all, the domestic auto industry has never done anything like this. Finally, we started thinking about people! Even Skoda will envy such a competent organization of space with its Simply Clever solutions. Both Ladas are full of hooks, nets, an outlet, lighting, a secret compartment in the wall on the right, a tray for rags and other trifles. And most importantly - Russian know-how: a special pocket for a five-liter bottle of water or a canister with a washer. They are proposed to be placed in a convenient niche on the port side and fixed with an elastic strap. Even if you put eggs in the trunk: with such a fixation, nothing will fly and break against the walls. There is only one problem - there is not enough space. The unification of the floor with the sedan did not allow squeezing more than 480 liters from the station wagon (like in a four-door). And this is taking into account the "two-story" underground: an organizer around the 15-inch spare wheel and removable trays above it. Even in the five-door "Vest" there is no hatch for long cars, and the backrest of the back sofa, divided in a ratio of 40:60, does not know how to fold into the horizon.

The fifth door is opened with a button; in the future, a servo drive should also be installed. The maximum volume with the seats folded is 825 liters

Passage: 3: 3

Vesta SW not puzoterka: 178 mm under steel protection power unit- a normal option for Russia. And Cross is even more versatile. Under a flat belly, he has as much as 203 mm. Vazovtsy did not embellish, the body is really lifted up on new heights- impartial roulette confirmed. For comparison, popular crossovers like Kia sportage, Volkswagen tiguan or Ford Kuga real ground clearance of about 180 mm. That's just all-wheel drive Cross will not have it yet. And coupled with road tires Pirelli cinturato P7 205/60 R17 (for SW - Matador Elite 3 195/55 R16) these are the main limitations on flotation. But as long as there is enough grip and geometry, the Cross crawls forward. What we saw for ourselves when the clumsy standard navigation led us to a very rough dirt road, where, as a colleague recalled, an SUV was recently tested Mitsubishi pajero Sport. Raised "Vesta" slid down the slope, jumped over the boulders, took a mud ford and stumbled only on a damp rise, pitted with ruts. On the way back, Cross had to be slightly pushed up the hill, but most importantly, we got out. The off-road exam is passed, get a point in the piggy bank.

With the exception of front bumper plastic "Cross" body kit, natural, unpainted. The drive-in angles are about 1.5 degrees greater than the regular SW, despite the elongated overhangs. From electronic assistants - imitation of interwheel locking and an assistant start on the rise

Engines: 2: 2

Perhaps motors are the most weakness new station wagons, we fine both cars by one point. We don't know how the SW and Cross behave with the base 1.6-liter 106-horsepower VAZ-21129 "four" - they were not brought for a test drive, but the Vestas with the flagship engine, to put it mildly, did not please. The new VAZ-21179 unit seems to have a solid volume - 1.8 liters, and a decent power - 122 hp, the torque due to the phase shifter at the inlet is quite good - 170 N ∙ m. But at the very least, all this works only on the plain. And when we went deeper into the mountains from the Sochi coast, the Vesta became completely sluggish: the engine was empty at the bottom, it was sad at the top, the middle was so-so - no matter how fast you keep up, sometimes the car, not just to accelerate on the slopes, did not want to, it demanded to switch to the gear down ... It is doubly stressful to crawl along the lane - you have to play with the clutch. As a result - consumption under 12-13 liters of 92nd gasoline. Below 9 liters, the onboard computer has never shown at all for the entire time. But the station wagons are only 50-70 kg heavier than the sedan ... By the way, according to VAZ logic, SW is a Sport Wagon. Sounds like a wicked irony. Well, at least the 1.8 engine no longer suffers from detonation, other childhood illnesses seem to have been cured too, but in the morning the cold engine still upset a couple of times with unexpected traction failures.

An error occurred during download.

The Vesta station wagon is a quiet car. The tires, the engine, the wind are heard about the same, the noise does not press on the ears. And the "crickets" in the hard plastic of the interior do not squeal even on the primer. I would like to believe that the details will not loosen over time and the front suspension will not knock, as on the sedans of the first releases

Gearboxes: 2: 2

The main "transmission" trouble of the five-door "West" is the lack of a normal automatic box... True, VAZ employees swear that buyers have learned how to handle obstinate robot AMT (2182) and do not express any complaints about it. But it seems to us that only those people who have never driven a car with a good automatic transmission say so. The skills of the five-speed robot "Lada" are best illustrated by the acceleration figures to "hundreds": automated station wagons 1.8 take an indecently long time for this - 12.9-13.3 s, while with mechanics the numbers are much more optimistic - 10.9- 11.2 sec. Manual boxes, by the way, they are different: Vestam 1.6 has a domestic transmission 2180, and modifications from 1.8 - the French JR5. And we liked it: it switches quite clearly, easily, does not buzz or howl. But in general, there is nothing to accrue points here, the score in the battle remains the same.

Vesta SW

Vesta SW Cross

An armrest with a box appeared between the front seats (useful, but it interferes with fastening and shifting gears), the seat heating is now three-stage, the glove compartment lid with a microlift, and the windshield heating is turned on with a separate button. These things are coming to the sedan soon.

Controllability: 2: 3

For the SW station wagon, engineers have defined special rear springs in order to adapt the chassis to different stiffness and weight of the five-door body. Therefore, the behavior on the road, this version resembles a sedan. It lays just as tightly, with excitement it turns into a turn under the gas discharge and pleases with a lively response to the steering wheel turns. Never before have Russian station wagons driven so "tasty". But the high Cross turned out to be even more interesting! VAZ employees chose a difficult, but correct way to increase the ground clearance - they completely replaced the springs and shock absorbers, expanded the track by 14 mm, spending a lot of time on fine-tuning driving performance... As a result, the “off-road” version did not become more rollable, retained an acceptable smoothness on low-profile 17-inch wheels, and even won in handling: the “Cross” has a cleaner steering wheel, richer effort on it, the car is more stable on an arc in a turn. Only the edging of the instrument dials was painted red in vain - the numbers are hard to read. But still Cross deservedly takes the lead in points. A small note: on the serpentine stilettos, the front tires of the Cross were rubbing against the support cups of the suspension springs.
