Is it worth taking a Mitsubishi Lancer 10. Buying a used Mitsubishi Lancer X. From the history of the model

home / Repair and care

Mitsubishi Lancer X without any exaggeration can be called the bestseller of our market. Moreover, at the moment we can say that not only new cars are in high demand, but also those that have already managed to travel around the expanses of our country. In a sense, used Mitsubishi Lancer X look even more preferable. They still have current appearance, but at the same time they cost quite reasonable money. But is it expensive to maintain and repair a used Mitsubishi Lancer X? This is what we will try to figure out.

Paintwork Japanese car traditionally weak. It does not resist aggressive environmental influences very well, so on most Lancer X you will easily see numerous chips and small scratches. Another thing is that chips, even after several winters, are in no hurry to become covered with a red coating of rust. So that body iron Mitsubishi Lancer X is definitely not prone to corrosion.

The interior of a Japanese car at first glance seems quite nice, but in reality it turns out that because of the hard plastic it constantly creaks. And the rest of the finishing materials leave much to be desired. The leather on the steering wheel and aluminum-like inserts most often lose their marketable appearance already by a run of 80-100 thousand kilometers. But for the work of electricians in the Mitsubishi Lancer X, even with all the desire to make any claims, it will not work. It works reliably. Only sometimes the fuel level indicator starts to "fail", but most owners simply do not notice this problem.

As for the gasoline engines offered for the Mitsubishi Lancer X, their common feature is that they all have a timing chain drive. The chain, as the mechanics assure, can withstand about 300 thousand kilometers, so by and large you can forget about its existence. But about the "sweating" oil seals crankshaft will have to remember. Most often, this problem occurs after 100-130 thousand kilometers. Many owners are in no hurry to change oil seals, but in this case there is a risk of changing a much more expensive damper pulley after a while drive belts. It is on him that oil from leaking seals gets. Also most Lancer owners X after a run of 60-80 thousand kilometers, you will have to change the sealing ring of the exhaust pipe. After another 40-60 thousand kilometers, oxygen sensors will need to be replaced.

If we are not talking about all engines in general, but about specific power units, then the weakest one should be recognized as the least successful Gas engine volume of 1.5 liters. The dynamics of the car with it is not very good, but even worse is that for a run of 100-150 thousand kilometers this engine begins to consume oil, the consumption of which can reach one liter per 3-4 thousand kilometers. And all because of the occurrence of the rings. There are no complaints about the rest of the power units.

When choosing a gearbox, it is worth starting from the fact that in terms of reliability they are approximately equal. "Mechanics", which is most often installed on cars with the weakest power units, can upset the current drive seals and the failure of the first gear synchronizer. This happens to a run of 50-70 thousand kilometers. automatic box gear shifting and a variator are better in this regard, but it should be understood that their possible repair, and sooner or later it will be needed, it will cost where more expensive than repair"mechanics".

Suspension Mitsubishi Lancer X hard, but quite reliable. Every 70-80 thousand kilometers it will have to change the front shock absorbers, and after another 20-30 thousand kilometers it will be the turn of the rear shock absorbers. At about 60-80 thousand kilometers on a Japanese car, the resource of bushings and stabilizer struts is estimated roll stability. About 90-120 thousand kilometers withstand the bearings of the front struts, front and rear wheel bearings. The suspension arms can withstand up to 150 thousand kilometers, and by the mileage of 200 thousand kilometers, the pretty sagging rear springs will have to be changed.

There are no special claims to the steering management of Mitsubishi Lancer X. Steering rods and tips can withstand 70-80 thousand kilometers without problems, and steering rack starts to leak only after a run of 100-120 thousand kilometers.

The reliability of the brake system of a Japanese car can also be highly estimated. Leaving planned replacements out of brackets brake discs and pads, it turns out that about brake system you will have to remember only when the calipers begin to publish extraneous sounds. Usually this happens to a run of 50 thousand kilometers.

So is people's love for the Mitsubishi Lancer X justified? Quite. It's really reliable car, which, with proper maintenance, will faithfully serve its owner for many years. As for the shortcomings, the Lancer X, when compared with its main competitors, has practically none. So you can safely buy a Mitsubishi Lancer X with mileage, if you do not forget about diagnostics before buying.

  • On the conveyor: since 2007
  • Body: sedan, hatchback
  • Russian range of engines: petrol, Р4, 1.5 (109 hp), 1.6 (117 hp), 1.8 (143 hp), 2.0 (150 hp)
  • Gearboxes: M5, A4, CVT
  • Drive unit: front, full
  • Restyling: in 2010, the total number of modifications was reduced, but after a couple of years it became available new motor 1.6 and changed front bumper, grille, front foglights and rear optics; improved sound insulation, updated instrument panel.
  • Crash tests: 2009, Euro NCAP; overall score- five stars: adult protection - 81%, child protection - 80%, pedestrian protection - 34%, safety assistants - 71%.

All types of motors have a normal belt life attachments and its rollers - from 100,000 km, and engine mounts live much longer than the previous Lancer.

  • On modifications with a 1.5 engine, an electric power steering is installed, built into the steering rack. On machines of the first years of production, it is very rare, but there were system failures. The amplifier either completely turned off, or worked only when the steering wheel was rotated in one direction. Attempts to repair did not bring the desired result and, as a result, it was necessary to replace the steering gear assembly with second-hand ones. In general, the electric amplifier on the Lancer does not cause trouble. Unlike Subaru, Ford and Mazda, Mitsubishi's electric racks are reliable: knocks are not about them.
  • On versions with engines 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, a classic power steering is installed. Sometimes a leak of the return line from the rack to the pump pops up: the rubber tubes are frayed at the points of attachment to the steering mechanism. It is important to replace the power steering fluid in accordance with the regulations - every 90,000 km. By this run, the products of natural wear in the lubricant are already decently clogging the filter mesh in the pump reservoir.
  • Alas, a good picture with the reliability of rails of both types is spoiled by the low resource of steering rods and tips - on average, a little more than 60,000 km.
  • Like its predecessor, the rear silent blocks of the front levers do not differ in an enviable resource - only 60,000 km go. They can be replaced separately, but at about 90,000 km the ball joint dies, which is only assembled with a lever. Therefore, if the rear silent block breaks, it is more rational to replace the lever assembly.
  • Front shock absorbers run an average of 120,000 km. When replacing them, the thrust bearings are also updated so as not to remove the nodes once again.
  • The bushings of the front and rear stabilizers are consumables. They are changed every 30,000 km. Racks front stabilizer also not very tenacious: the resource is about 40,000 km.
  • Like its predecessor, the tenth Lancer has to service the brake mechanisms with each replacement of the pads - clean the guides in the caliper brackets, lubricate the fingers. This is especially important for rear brakes. Without prevention, the mechanisms quickly turn sour. The pads stop moving away from the disk, which means increased wear and overheating, squeaks and others are inevitable. extraneous noise. With a working system, the front pads run 30,000–50,000 km, and the rear pads run about 90,000 km.
  • The rear suspension of 1.5- and 1.6-liter modifications is deprived of a stabilizer, but it can be retrofitted - the mounting holes are unified.
  • In silent blocks, the camber and toe adjustment bolts turn sour rather quickly. Alas, there is only one prevention - to check and adjust the wheel alignment every 60,000 km. If you miss the moment, the repair will cost much more.
  • Resource neutralizer and oxygen sensors- at least 100,000 km. Most often, lambda probes fail due to an open circuit in their internal heating circuit. Original sensors are very expensive, so servicemen use cheaper, but decent Denso counterparts.
  • To save money, sintered cells are often pierced at failed converters, and a snag is installed on the second lambda probe, which controls the efficiency of the system. This is a small spacer between the sensor and the exhaust gas flow. It has a kind of small honeycomb neutralizer built into it, which successfully imitates the operation of an expensive node.
  • After 100,000 km, the exhaust pipe ring burns out. This is a common ailment. Exhaust system immediately raises his voice.

Achilles' heel of the tenth Lancer - variable speed drive. It is only available for versions with 1.8 and 2.0 engines. Even with proper maintenance and operation, the variator lives on average only 150,000 km. A full and qualified repair implies the mandatory replacement of many expensive parts, and the final restoration price tag reaches 120,000 rubles. Therefore, used variators are in great demand on the market. There are enough offers, and the price is tolerable - 60,000 rubles. The Lancer is equipped with a Japanese Jatco JF011E unit. They are equipped with Outlanders and many models of the Renault-Nissan concern.

In addition to the negligent attitude of the owners, the life span of a whimsical transmission is greatly reduced by the unfortunate location of its cooling radiator. On pre-styling models, it stands under the bumper, practically on the fender liner of the front left wheel, as a result, it quickly becomes overgrown with dirt - and the variator overheats. Therefore, the radiator has to be dismantled and flushed before each summer season. There are pitfalls here - the assembly is subject to corrosion. Even when you first remove the hoses from its fittings, there is a high risk of breaking them, and by 120,000 km they completely rot. A new radiator costs 20,000 rubles, so the servicemen picked up an analogue from Kia / Hyundai cars, which is almost three times cheaper.

Surprisingly, when the Lancer was restyled in 2010, the CVT cooling radiator was removed altogether - just like on the Outlander. The transmission began to overheat even more. Fortunately, a rescue scheme has been worked out: the radiator is put in the former regular place, using the same Korean analogue. Or they select a radiator that is suitable in terms of parameters and take it out in front of the main regular ones. In both cases, it will be necessary to replace the variator heat exchanger housing with the “pre-reform” one. In the modern version, it has only two outlets for antifreeze lines circulating through the engine cooling system, and two additional ones are needed for a new oil circuit.

It is very important to change the oil in the variator at least once every 90,000 km - this is in the presence of an oil cooler. If not, the interval should be halved. When replacing, it is advisable to remove the pan in order to assess the amount of chips (wear products) on its bottom and on special magnets. This allows you to judge the health of the variator and roughly estimate how much he has left to live. They also evaluate the condition of used CVTs before buying them.

Extend the life of the variator and careful operation. This type of transmission is especially afraid of shock loads (when slipping wheels suddenly gain good grip) and sudden acceleration.

Five-speed mechanical boxes gears are available for all engines, but have design differences depending on the engine family. For 4A engines (1.5 and 1.6) there is one unit, for 4B (1.8 and 2.0) - another. At the same time, both boxes are reliable. But you can kill everything, so careless owners should take note: now the mechanics for Lancer are more expensive than the variator - 75,000 rubles. The interval for oil change in boxes set by the manufacturer is 105,000 km.

Four-speed classic automatic already overgrown, but indestructible. It is available for 1.5 and 1.6 engines. Servicemen could not remember weaknesses this box. Oil is recommended to be changed at least once every 90,000 km.

WORD TO THE OWNER

Maria Mishulina, Mitsubishi Lancer X (2008, 1.8 l, 143 hp, 140,000 km)

Lancer X I chose because of the appearance and because of the love for Japanese cars. I have a lot of experience with them, including right-hand drive. I bought the car in 2012 - with a mileage of 98,000 km and after two owners.

Before me, my friend operated the car, so I was sure that her condition was good.

I was looking for a car with a CVT - I like this transmission. In addition, the Lancer of this generation did not have other options that combined relatively powerful motor and automatic. I know that the variator is short-lived and expensive to repair, which is why I sold the car when the mileage reached 140,000 km. The transmission worked flawlessly, but I didn't want to risk it.

The car required only routine maintenance with the replacement of consumables. Alas, there were no accidents. The damage to the front was mild, but the prices for original parts shocked. It's good that on Lancer you can always find parts for sane money at showdowns.

Objective cons: mediocre sound insulation, poor quality trim and small trunk. The rest of the Lancer suited me, and I do not agree with the conventional wisdom that it is very outdated.

WORD TO THE SELLER

Alexander Bulatov, sales manager for used cars at U Service +

Lancer X pleases with high liquidity on secondary market, despite the fact that against the background of more recent competitors, it is obsolete. Age is clearly visible in the interior: boring design, cheap materials, poor sound insulation. But Lancer is still catchy with its appearance. All modifications are in good demand. Lancer for an adequate price is waiting for its buyer for a maximum of a week. The most popular are versions with 1.8 and 2.0 engines and a variator. Of course, the variator requires timely maintenance and competent operation, but it is more comfortable in the city with it.

The flip side of high liquidity is the increased attention of hijackers and the abundance of fraudulent sale ads. Focus on prices official dealers- so you cut off a potentially dangerous segment of offers.

Overall Lancer is reliable and interesting car. It's not that hard to find examples in good condition. technical condition even with decent mileage. However, in my opinion, the tenth generation is somewhat overpriced in the secondary market. You should not consider cars more expensive than 400,000 rubles, because within half a million you can buy cars of a higher class, for example Ford Mondeo or Mazda 6.

Mitsubishi Lancer X is very common on Ukrainian roads. He is loved for moderately aggressive design and notorious Japanese reliability. But there are "tens" and disadvantages - we'll talk about them in more detail.

Mitsubishi Lancer X was successfully sold in Ukraine from 2007 to 2016. Now these machines are estimated by sellers from 5,500 to 12,000 dollars. Most of them, despite decent runs, are in good condition. But there are a few weaknesses to watch out for.

Mitsubishi Lancer body

Sufficiently “fresh” Lancers do not yet suffer from the red disease, unless they were beaten and restored poorly after that. But additional anti-corrosion treatment will not hurt this car. Most often, small pockets of corrosion appear in front of the thresholds. It is not easy to notice them, because the thresholds are covered with plastic overlays. It's a must to look there before buying.

Body Lancer X does not suffer much from corrosion

Lancer X motors

Almost all Lancers sold in Ukraine were equipped with 1.5 and 2.0 liter gasoline engines. Both have a timing chain drive that is maintenance-free and trouble-free. The common problem for both engines is increased consumption oil after 150-200 thousand kilometers. Rarely, mainly due to untimely replacement spark plugs, there are problems with the ignition coils and high voltage wires. Non-original coils cost 30-60 dollars, and for the original they ask for more than 100 dollars.

In Ukraine, the most common gasoline engines volume of 1.5 and 2.0 liters.

Also on the run about 200 thousand km. catalytic converter fails. Usually it is simply removed, but after that the engine control unit requires a flashing (50-100 dollars). But there is also a budget way out - the installation of a "trick". This simple device costs 10-20 dollars.

Mitsubishi Lancer transmissions

Manual transmissions have proved to be very reliable - experts do not recall any problems with their operation. The normal clutch life is 80-120 thousand km. the cost of replacing it even with a non-original one is $ 200-250. Genuine parts are even more expensive.

Manual gearbox and shift drive no problems deliver

The role of the machine on the Mitsubishi Lancer X was played by the variator. It has also proven itself to be a very reliable unit. All costs for it are reduced to a periodic oil change every 90 thousand kilometers. True, the filling volume is about 10 liters and high requirements for the quality of the oil raise the cost of such an operation to 200-250 dollars.

Suspension Mitsubishi Lancer X

In general, the suspension of the Mitsubishi Lancer X is quite strong. Front shock absorbers on our roads are capable of nursing 100-120 thousand km. The cost of replacing them with non-original, but quality analogues- about 200 dollars. Ball bearings and silent blocks, which also have a resource of about 100 thousand km., Experts recommend changing along with the levers. A pair of original levers will cost around $200-$300. Non-original - half the price.

The front suspension is simple and fairly reliable.

More often - every 40-50 thousand mileage require replacement of the thrust and bushings of the front stabilizer. The budget for such an event is 50-100 dollars, depending on the “originality” of the details.

As a true cavalryman, "Ulan" (this is how the word lancer is translated from English) is not burdened with strong armor. The metal of the outer panels is not particularly thick, and paintwork not outstanding strength: to get hold of chips and scratches on the body is a couple of trifles. Shoes easily damage the paint of the door sills, and pebbles - the rear arches, which often peel off the protective anti-gravel film. But you need to start looking for real rust in older Lancers from the trunk! To “help” the condensate, outboard water comes there, seeping through the seals of the lanterns and wiring.

Over time, Lancer becomes blind: soft "glasses" of the front optics require delicate handling, mirror elements fog lights with prolonged use, they burn out, and the bulbs of dimensions and brake lights go out for an hour. By the way, be especially careful when replacing lamps in rear lights: when dismantling, it is easy to chip off the corner of the filter.

The spacious interior is replete with tough, rough plastic that begins to creak over time.

The seats are upholstered in a successful "long-playing" fabric, but the armrests on the doors and between the seats are quickly overwritten

Be careful with painted plastic on the steering wheel and panels: the coating is easily damaged

0 / 0

Lancer's electrical equipment is nowhere simpler. But after 3-5 years, the expensive ($ 90) fan motor of the “stove” can begin to howl and hum in a Zhiguli style - the most unpleasant thing is that it fails, as a rule, in winter. It happens that the mirror adjustment drives, seat heating, the climate is weird, the audio installation stalls or turns off the display, and cars older than 2009 were even called for a service campaign to replace front impact sensors: the airbags could not work correctly. After 80-100 thousand "urban" kilometers, it happens that the buttons on the steering wheel go on strike: roller contacts fray the rings of the wiring loop ($ 30) of the steering column.

A vivid example of the degradation of the brand is the Mitsubishi Lancer X. Fans of the ninth Lancer were disappointed by this generation. The car has become more complicated, it does not have the reliability of the previous generation, the charisma of the “nine”, which even with a one and a half liter engine still seemed to be the same Evolution, is not here either. Yes, there is more comfort, and the appearance is more modern, but the overall impression of the model is savings on everything.

And yet, the pedigree of the car is serious, so let's see how the cars feel after 6-8 years of harsh operation in the metropolis and is there anything really interesting in these cars for the price of 500 thousand, which our evaluation service traditionally recommends.

What, where and how much?

The previous generation of Lancers pleased their owners with fairly trouble-free operation and minimal investment costs. Therefore, among the first owners of cars of the tenth generation there were quite a lot of "relocated". Some quickly realized that driving a hundred to two hundred thousand without suspension repairs and just changing the oil would not work. Someone in the car was disappointed, but in vain. Just a more complex car required more thorough maintenance. In general, there is nothing wrong with it. There is only one thing that is worse than everything else.

A rare case when there is no frankly unsuccessful in the entire line of motors. Yes, the one and a half liter 4A91 engine turned out to be rather weak for the car, but it cannot be said that this is a bad engine. Suppose that his rings coke relatively quickly. It seems that there is nothing terrible, but if there is a choice of three more options, then why compromise? Moreover, with these motors there was not the most successful mechanical box with weak bearings (on machines with all other manual transmission motors it is different) and a slightly capricious steering rack with EUR (on all other machines - power steering).

Therefore, we conclude that it is advisable to look for a car with a different engine. For example, with gasoline 1.6-liter 4A92, 1.8-liter 4B10, 2.0-liter 4B11 and 2.4-liter 4B12. All of them will be not only faster, but also a little more reliable. Theoretically, there are also diesel Lancers, but it is unrealistic to find them on sale. Almost as unrealistic as to sell later. Now it remains to deal with the boxes.

We figured out the motors, but what did the manufacturer offer in terms of boxes? As I said, mechanical boxes with all engines, except for the 1.5-liter, usually do not raise questions. What about automatic transmission?

On machines with engines of 1.5 and 1.6 liters, there is a conventional Jatco F4A torque converter “automatic”. This is a very old, slow and uneconomical box. But everything is fine with her (especially by modern standards) with a resource. And if she was not purposefully killed, then cars with her should not be afraid unambiguously.

WITH Jatco variators JF011E, which are on cars with 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines, is a little more difficult. And then, only because of the fact that the variators in general, dubious fame was entrenched. In principle, there are almost no serious complaints about them. It all depends on the previous owners - how they drove and serviced the box. Here it is advisable to stomp your feet and demand documents confirming the oil change. Of course, it would be nice if the seller of a car with a conventional automatic transmission also had them, but there you can stomp your feet a little less vigorously.

So what can you find for half a million?

And finally, the lamp

Let's start with the very expensive car. This 2012 car costs 499 thousand rubles, and it has traveled 130 thousand kilometers. Motor - 1.8 l, gearbox - variator.

The car looks good, but on the rear left wing there is a rather large, albeit tinted chip. And if you look closely at the rear left door, it becomes obvious that it was repainted: the shagreen leather is completely different. Perhaps it makes sense to feel this area with a thickness gauge.

1400 microns on the door is putty. But the rest of the paint on the car is original. This is not as bad as a broken “muzzle”, but a poorly repaired and painted door slowly begins to rot.

The second defect is not even so much a body defect as “plastic”. The bumper skirt does not like hard objects very much. But this is generally nonsense.

The Lancer's interior is usually well preserved, so it is difficult to immediately determine the twisted mileage on it. But there are some elements that can be considered “indicators” of mileage. They wear out faster than anything else. These are fabric inserts on the doors, an armrest and power window buttons. Here they do not look too “killed”, but the armrest has lost its appearance, and the seat seems to be worn out a little more than it should. And I have a hunch that real mileage different from the one shown.

This suspicion is strengthened a little more during the inspection of the engine compartment.

First, pay attention to the unused connectors.

Most likely, there was an electric (or electromechanical) hood lock. In 2010, Lancer X was recognized as the most stolen car in Russia, so the installation of this lock was justified at one time. But where does he go now? Was it taken by the owner? Here vigilance is needed. Sometimes such locks were installed to get a discount on CASCO. That is, this car may have been bought on credit. Let's say it was a long time ago, but it's better to double-check everything a hundred times.

Secondly, the sound of the engine is alarming. He is here with a timing chain drive, and this chain is very noisy. For 130 thousand run - early.

Well, in the end, the car threw another surprise. The engine hasn't warmed up yet dashboard Suddenly the check engine light came on.

I didn’t have a scanner at hand, but there were suspicions about the condition of the motor and the honesty of the run. Yes, and a kilogram of putty on the door does not inspire a purchase. We'd better look for something else.

Washed here, forgotten there

The next car is very pleasing appearance. This cute Lancer was released in 2010, has run 160 thousand kilometers since then and now costs only 415 thousand rubles.

While I was probing it with a thickness gauge, I was once again surprised at the very thin layer of paintwork with the simultaneous absence of any noticeable corrosion. Even where in without fail during operation, chips usually appear (for example, on the edges of doors), there is no rust. And only if you really want to, some hints of minimal corrosion can be seen in the rear wing arch. For an almost nine-year-old car, the result is very good.

Unfortunately, the right side of the car has been repainted. front fender. But the layer is not thick, and there is no putty.

It would seem that there are no questions to the body. But this is not so, and we will return to it a little later. And now let's look at the salon.

And it was almost perfect! There are no such scuffs as on the first car, which means there is no doubt about the mileage.

Now it's time to open the hood. And get upset.

There is more rust here than I would like. And what is most surprising, the gearbox housing is covered with rust!

Well, now let's look at the motor. Of course, they tried to wash it, but the washers didn’t have the courage to remove the casing. But in vain. There is a very noticeable accumulation of dirt that has stuck to the oil flowing from under the valve cover for years.

Of course, a leaky gasket is not scary. But let's think about this question. Why does this one and a half liter engine coke faster in traffic jams? Because on idling it lacks a little oil pressure and - more importantly - it gets very hot in traffic jams. But such historical layers of oil help this very well. So the risk that this motor bursts oil barrels is great. Especially given the mileage.

Most likely, this is not a reason to unambiguously refuse to buy. But as we said, there are less problematic motors. And since these Lancers are in bulk on the secondary market, it makes sense to look for something more attractive.

Nearly perfect Lancer

The third car looks somewhat nondescript. It would be good to wash it, and even better - polish it. Then this car of 2010 with a mileage of one hundred thousand would look just like its 470 thousand!

She has one owner, service book and completely original paint. In the passive - a 1.5-liter engine.

Body looks good, no rust. There is a small dent on the front left fender, but it's hard to even notice.

There is a suspicion that rear bumper still painted, but the gaps are even, and the shade differs quite a bit and only at a certain angle. The main thing is that no one touched the iron elements.

The interior generally seems new, and the mileage gives out only a too shiny steering wheel rim.

No complaints about the motor. They did not try to wash it, so there is a layer of dust on it. But there is no oil layer.

It works quietly and smoothly. When translating the automatic transmission selector (there is a conventional torque converter here), there are no kicks, and even the supports seem to be intact: in D mode, with the brake pressed, there are no vibrations. Why complain? First, to the crack on windshield, which went from a chip on the passenger side. There is no glass heating, so replacing it will be inexpensive. But, of course, you have to bargain.

Secondly, there are a lot of crumpled honeycombs in the air conditioner radiator. In winter, at negative temperatures, you can’t check it, although you can turn on the bore and drag yourself to the service. But it is unlikely that anything will come of this venture: there is nothing criminal there.
