Citroen Berlingo Citroen Berlingo. New Citroen Berlingo Multispace Four trim levels

home / Engine

To all good day! I haven't been here for a long time, for various reasons, but still decided to finish the story;)

By the summer of 2015, the mileage approached 200,000, nothing much happened from the extreme recall - only painted the trunk - it rusted decently. There were no special problems on the body, tinted chips, began to peel off the paint from the thresholds with sandblasting - painted with anti-gravel. The glasses did not crack, although a couple of new chips appeared.

From the unpleasant - the rear right door lock stopped blocking, the heater fan almost died, some of the backlight bulbs for buttons and handles on the torpedo burned out. On the body and interior, these are all malfunctions.

There is much more work on the engine - repair or replacement of the generator, replacement of the belt and rollers, replacement of the cooling fan - the vibration is large, the bearing apparently died, replacement of the clutch, replacement of the gearbox drive - the development is already critical, replacement of oil seals at the gearbox, replacement of spark plug tips and ignition coils, refueling the air conditioner. The motor itself is kept cheerful - it eats very little oil - 150-200 ml from filling to filling.

On the brakes - replacing discs at the front and replacing or grooving drums at the rear, replacing cables, flushing and replacing fluid. On the steering wheel - the rack is still alive, you can change the tips. There are no special problems with the chassis - you can preventively change the bearings on the rear beam, the springs on the front struts have sagged, but you can ride :), the shock absorbers are not leaking yet, the rear rubber covers need to be changed, the stabilizer struts can be changed. The muffler burned out at the junction with the pipe (I wrote about this already - this is a weak point).

As you can see from this list, nothing particularly critical was observed, normal natural wear and tear, even in July 2015 the machine turned 8 years old and the escape was quite decent. So I was getting ready to spend the money and drive on, but then several events happened that drastically changed my fate :) At first, the machine suddenly began to stall under the gas discharge - and completely unpredictable. - could drive normally for months or stall in front of every traffic light!

The guys at the service washed throttle, checked the clearances - stalls! By the method of scientific poking it was found out that rebooting the brains helps, but for an indefinite period - sooner or later it began to stall. They offered to either look for disassembly or install a new brain. I thought :) And then the second event happened - our neighbors renewed their vehicle fleet, took two Largus, a van and a five-seater. I walked around, looked, sat, drove around the parking lot behind the wheel and decided to give up without looking :) I washed the car, the day before the guys rebooted my brain and I went to trade, and what was most surprising was the price in general.

June 10, 2009 → mileage 46200 km

First opus.

Good afternoon everyone!

Finally I decided to describe my feelings and all sorts of different thoughts about the car, otherwise I read reviews on the site regularly, but I haven't written anything yet.

So - Citroen Berlingo 1.4 Multispace, purchased in August 2007, metallic blue, rich equipment - air conditioning, power accessories (heated front seats, mirrors, power windows, right mirrors), left sliding door, two pillows and a very convenient drawer under passenger seat, branded roof rack.

I think you need to describe a little the process of choosing a car - why Berlingo?

I use a car for work and at home (summer cottages), and mainly for work - I work in an exhibition and publishing company with all the ensuing features: distribution of circulations, check-in and check-out from exhibitions, etc. The loads are small, but rather heavy. Before Berlingo there were two fours, each of them ran almost 140 thousand. In general, they more or less coped, but they wanted a more comfortable car (I was probably getting old, and there was money). Minivans and heels were preliminarily considered as candidates. Minivans dropped out quickly - in terms of price and reviews, including on this site. I looked at three cars live - Berlingo, Kangu (Renault), Keddy (Volkswagen). Moreover, Berlingo and Keddy managed to be persuaded for a test drive. As a result of the comparison, I got into the pose of Buridan's donkey - all cars have their advantages and no less their disadvantages. In favor of Berlingo, a big discount from the dealer at that time inclined - Keddy in a similar configuration turned out to be much more expensive, and Kangoo was, although a little cheaper, but his salon was already very simple. A little more to the choice - the 1.6 engine was originally planned, but after a test drive and a sincere conversation with the manager of the car dealership I took 1.4 and I do not regret it. In the city, and I drive mainly in Moscow, the engine is quite enough even with a load, outside the city my wife does not allow accelerating faster than 120;) Seriously, if you travel a lot outside the city, you should take a 1.6 engine, but with it the car will be strong more expensive, also because this configuration includes obligatory expensive options (ESP, etc.).

I turn to the actual story of the life of the car.

For almost two years and 46,200 km, there were no breakdowns or warranty cases. In the sense of NO! The only force majeure occurred entirely through my fault - in Serpukhov I refueled at a "bad" gas station, an engine malfunction lamp came on near Podolsk. Result - the lambda probe (oxygen sensor) is out of order. It happened exactly before TO-30,000, the sensor was changed for TO, and at the same time the candles were the only unscheduled waste of all the time. Scheduled maintenance takes place after 15,000 km - all filters (oil, air, fuel, cabin), oil (oil, by the way, expensive - TOTAL QUARTZ synthetics) are changed, the front pads were changed for TO-45000, the rear drum was still standing and standing. After the end of the warranty (2 years or 100,000 km), I think to leave the officials - their work is expensive, and turnover can be done anywhere. By the way, about the guarantee - ALL parts and assemblies that may fail during normal operation of the machine do not fall under the guarantee. I'm not joking - on occasion, check out the list of non-warranty cases from Citroen! Naturally, the sensor and candles were not a warranty case. If he knew that the car was trouble-free, he scored a guarantee and official service, because he bought not on credit, but for cash.

At city speeds, the car is quiet enough, but standard tires MICHELIN ENERGY 175 / 70R14 hums strongly on rough asphalt and are quite tough, while highly wear-resistant - they will still pass for 2 years. At suburban speeds (100 - 140 km), the motor overlaps everything, but the sound, although strong, is not disgusting;) Cargo suspension - the front is more or less soft, but the rear is very rigid - it softens only with a load of 200 kilograms. However, in terms of reliability it is good - diagnostics were carried out on TO-45000 - so far everything is normal. Gas consumption is highly dependent on driving style (in the city) and speed (outside the city). In the city it is really possible to keep within 8-9 liters even with a load (not stuck, of course), outside the city at a "tractor" speed (60-80 km) the consumption is 7 liters. With air conditioning, you need to add 1.5-2 liters.

The salon is VERY spacious - I declare this with knowledge of the matter (my own dimensions - 190 height and 105 weight), average people sit behind me quite freely. In terms of transformation, the salon is good, but there are some peculiarities. The rear seats fold down and stand upright, but the front seats have to be pushed forward. If the height is not like mine, then everything is fine, but I feel uncomfortable. So I only try to fold. The view is great - there are a lot of glasses, the mirrors are like a truck, the wiper on the tailgate cleans most window. But! The algorithm of the work of this very janitor puzzled me! He has NO continuous mode work! ONLY pause and 5 moves with watering! Therefore, in case of heavy rain, you have to stupidly turn it on and off manually! Let's go further. I turned off the headlight washer immediately - there was no sense in it. By the way, an explanatory description is attached to the car and there are fuse block diagrams in it.

The seats are hard, they hold well, the heating warms up as it should. The only remark - with my height, the pillow is short and the back presses a little on the lower back during a long ride (I was spoiled after four). The rear seats are suitable only for short trips - the pillow is thin, the backrest is almost vertical. Heating and ventilation are good in the front, but worse in the rear. An air duct runs across the floor to the rear seats, but the air is barely blowing out of it (they looked at the service and said that everything is in order, such as such a feature), so in winter the rear people first get cold feet, then the whole cabin warms up and the complaints subside. The interior warms up very quickly in winter, the swivel vents are very convenient. For those who smoke, this is a non-smoking car! There are NO ashtrays in the car! None. There is a portable glass with a lid (I understood its purpose only from a hint from the manager in the salon).

Regarding the carriage of cargo - more than 400 - 450 kg did not have to be loaded, long lengths I carry on top trunk(nominal carrying capacity 100 kg), I think the trunk is a necessary thing and did not save money on it. The paint is soft, easily scratched, but apparently that is why there are no chips, although the stones fell. I recommend covering the lower part of the bumpers and sills with anti-gravel, not because the paint will peel off, but because front bumper hangs low (this is generally the lowest point) and be sure to hook on the curb. About music - I do not recommend taking a regular one either in sound or in price. Bet much better for less money. One subtlety - the columns in the regular places in the doors must be thin (50-60 mm), otherwise the glass will touch.

About the motor, gearbox, brakes - the motor pulls and is low-speed, it makes no sense to turn more than 4500 rpm - there is a lot of noise, little sense. Gear changes are easy, but the travel is great. You will have to get used to the brakes - the pedal is very light and at first frightened the neighbors downstream with sharp braking. The oil consumption of the engine is minimal - there is no need to add anything between the TOs. The salon is well assembled - the plastic is durable (checked!), The gaps are even, it does not creak or dangle. On the Multispace variant, the door handles, deflectors, the gearbox handle are painted with paint similar to aluminum - it will peel off on the doors and the gearbox handle.

The iconic family car is now redesigned! Still cozy and functional new Berlingo multispace acquires new qualities that add extra comfort to every trip.

The target audience of the car is business representatives and family people, for whom the main role is played by space, ease of placement and optimal organization of the internal space.

Buy, own, travel with pleasure!

Finding a one-volume vehicle that would perfectly cope with the tasks of transporting a group of people and goods is not an easy task. Basically, many manufacturers produce either family vans or commercial vans, but golden mean rarely occurs between them. But Citroen has become just the very rare brand that has launched a car on the market that perfectly combines high utility and comfort. His name is ̶ Berlingo. How has this one-volume device changed over time and what can it offer to its consumer? About this ̶ below.

1st generation (1996 - 2002)

Citroen Berlingo became the first car for the French brand that combines practicality and comfort. The monocab belongs to the M segment and has a twin brother in the form of the Peugeot Partner.

On the market, the model was available as a passenger either cargo version(van with a carrying capacity of 800 kilograms). Remarkable is the fact that the first generation Citroen Berlingo could boast of modest external dimensions... It had a length of only 4 meters 108 millimeters, which made it possible to easily exploit it in urban conditions.

Depending on the configuration, the equipment of the French monocab included:

  • On-board computer.
  • Automatic activation of the rear wiper when engaging reverse gear.
  • Heated rear-view mirrors.
  • Washer, headlight range control.
  • Hydraulic power steering.
  • Steering column height adjustment.
  • Heated front seats.
  • Air conditioner.
  • Airbag for the driver.
  • Immobilizer.

Specifications

The power range consists of gasoline and diesel power units... All of them are equipped with a five-speed manual transmission.

Citroen Berlingo is based on a front wheel drive platform. The front suspension is made according to the MacPherson type, while the rear is a semi-independent structure on torsion elements.

I generation. Restyling (2002 - 2012)

The updated Citroen Berlingo outwardly differs from its pre-reform version in a different configuration of head optics, different fenders and a radiator grill. All this made the car more attractive in terms of design. Inside, the instrument panel has changed, a new steering wheel and a manual transmission knob have been installed.

As for technical reforms, the 1.8-liter unit disappeared from the gasoline range of engines. At the same time, a replenishment has arrived in the diesel family ̶ a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 75 and 90 forces. In addition, instead of a semi-independent beam, a full-fledged "multi-link" appeared, which made it possible to increase comfort and optimize the behavior of the monocab on the road.

Price policy

On the secondary market the price of a Citroen Berlingo starts at 100 thousand rubles. The upper cost bar is fixed at 500 thousand rubles.

Owner review

Citroen Berlingo has become widespread in the market. Therefore, this car has a fairly large army of fans. The latter in every possible way share their operating experience and impressions of the model, which may come in handy at the time of its acquisition.

The car was bought from hands with a range of 100 thousand kilometers. Completion ̶ c gasoline engine 1.6 liters. Currently, there are 254 thousand kilometers on the odometer, which makes it possible to draw objective conclusions about the operation.

You need to start with reliability. For all the time, I have done the following restoration work:

  • Replaced all shock absorber struts, as well as front stabilizer links and springs.
  • Repaired the interior heater.
  • Replaced the pump and engine radiator.

Now a few words about personal feelings ...

Advantages:

  • Roomy salon.
  • Good engine thrust.
  • Soft suspension.

Flaws:

  • Loud noise in the cabin.
  • Weak illumination of head optics.
  • Rolling handling.

Despite the solid mileage, the car continues to delight with its reliability and relative comfort. In the near future, I will not look for an alternative to him ...

Test Drive

Appearance

Citroen Berlingo has a neutral appearance. It does not evoke absolutely any emotions. The front part of the body is designed quite laconically. The headlamp optics match well with the radiator grille as well as the sloping front bumper with integrated fog lights.

The side doors of the French monocab are made sliding, which is very convenient when loading people or luggage in a tight parking lot. The luggage compartment doors are hinged and open almost 180 degrees.

Interior decoration

The quality of finishing materials is not high as expected ̶ the plastic is hard and rattles when driving through irregularities. However, it is difficult to find fault with the assembly ̶ the gaps between the panels are small and even.

The dashboard reads well due to the gray background and is quite nice. As for the center console, you can see the display of the trip computer and the control unit on it. climate control... But, there is no standard audio system ...

Driving properties

A 2.0-liter diesel engine quickly accelerates the Citroen Berlingo at medium speeds. However, at low levels, it lacks momentum, so it is not very convenient to get under way. The gear ratios of the box are selected correctly, however, the "mechanics" itself does not differ in the clarity of the shifts.

The steering wheel with a long steering rack makes it actively work when maneuvering in the city. The steering wheel is quite informative, but it is sensitively extremely low. In addition, the turns need to be done carefully due to the strong diagonal swing. But the suspension very gently fulfills bumps, providing a high ride comfort.

II generation (2008 - 2012)

The new Citroen Berlingo has retained the ideological concept of its predecessor, while becoming more attractive from a consumer point of view. He got a catchy design, comfortable salon as well as a new platform.

The model's equipment list includes:

  • Airbags for the driver, front passenger.
  • Steering column adjustment in two planes.
  • Active power steering.
  • On-board computer.
  • Air conditioner.
  • Fog lights.
  • Front power windows.
  • Electric drive and heated side-view mirrors.
  • Trousers audio system with CD-reading capability.

For an additional fee, you can order:

  • Climate control.
  • Panoramic roof.
  • Vehicle Stability Program (ESP).
  • Rain sensor.
  • Light sensor.
  • Side airbags.
  • Cruise control.
  • Parking assistance system.
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel.
  • Rear power windows.
  • Audio system with AUX-socket and Bluetooth.
  • Heated front seats.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Citroen has prepared a Berlingo with the Multispace attachment. Such a car differs from a conventional modification by pseudo-metal bumper covers, a side body kit made of black plastic and other bumpers. In order to travel to Berlingo Multispace by bad roads increased ground clearance and installed more efficient springs, as well as a limited-slip differential.

Specifications

The range of Citroen Berlingo II engines, as before, consists of gasoline and diesel units of the HDi family. They dock with a manual five-speed gearbox.

Citroen Berlingo is based on the PSA platform under the PF2 index. The front suspension is a McPherson, the rear is a semi-beam.

II generation. Restyling (2012 - 2015)

The updated Citroen Berlingo has slightly changed in appearance. Namely, it received LED running lights, new wheel disks light alloy, other bumpers. The instrument panel has been redesigned inside, the quality of finishing materials has been improved.

Turbodiesel power power plant 1.6 liters increased to 115 forces. In addition, the power steering has been recalibrated to improve handling.

II generation. Restyling 2 (2015 - present)

The next modernization changed the configuration of the headlights and bumpers. The salon became more functional, and also acquired a modified multimedia unit with three-dimensional navigation maps, the ability to read various video and audio files.

From a technical point of view, it is worth noting the final transition of the Citroen Berlingo 2017 model year to a completely new platform EMP2. The power range remained the same, while the diesel modification as an alternative to the "mechanics" received robotic transmission with six gears.

Market price

The minimum price for a used Citroen Berlingo II is 280 thousand rubles. The new one-volume unit is estimated at 1 million 239 thousand rubles.

Owner review

The Internet contains a lot of information on the operation of the Citroen Berlingo II generation. Among them are ̶ reviews about the car, which can be useful to a potential buyer of the model.

Citroen made his way for purely utilitarian tasks ̶ to transport a large family. At the time of purchase, the mileage was a little over 20 thousand kilometers, while I added another 25 thousand kilometers to this number.

Over the entire period of operation, Berlingo did not fail, and even in relatively severe frosts (-25 degrees) it regularly started up. At my disposal was the option with diesel engine 1.6 liters (90 hp). As for the dynamics ̶, this motor completely suits me, because in the city its thrust is enough for the eyes. The consumption of diesel fuel is also quite democratic ̶ about 10.5 liters in a combined cycle.

The suspension is soft, which the family really likes, especially when traveling long distances. But I didn't like the handling ̶ the car is too wobbly. Also, I didn't like the way the stock audio system reproduces sound ̶ it lacks detail.

Test Drive

Exterior

Citroen Berlingo II looks attractive (adjusted for the fact that it is still a utilitarian monocab). It is worth noting the laconic front bumper with integrated LED running lights and fog lights, chrome-plated double chevron brand, as well as large head optics.

Large window area provides good overview on the sides, and the presence of roof rails makes it possible to transport lengths and overall luggage.

Interior

The salon is assembled with high quality and quite ergonomic. However, the abundance of hard plastic does not allow you to forget about the budget segment in which Citroen Berlingo is represented.

The instrument panel with amber illumination is perfectly readable under any conditions and informative. As for the central console, it is worth noting its some monumentality in terms of architecture and the presence of a color display of the navigation system. The head unit has an AUX connector and Bluetooth support.

The driver's seat is set high. Its adjustment ranges are extensive, so a person of any build can get a job behind the wheel. The back row is organized in the form of three separate seats. They will be able to accommodate three large passengers up to 190 centimeters tall. Talking about luggage compartment, then its volume is 675 liters, which, again, is not small.

Driving properties

Citroen Berlingo with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine ̶ this the best option, which combines acceptable dynamics and economy. The engine pulls confidently with almost idle speed, while on the middle it pleases with a pronounced pickup. The manual transmission has a close gear range ̶ this helps with intense acceleration and allows you to keep the engine in good shape, however, the gear lever is upset by amplitude moves and low clarity of gear shifting.

You don't have to expect much from handling ̶ the steering effort is insignificant, while its sensitivity is not high. In addition, when cornering, high rolls can be noted, so it is better not to drive this car actively.

But the suspension forgives a lot. Its high energy intensity makes it possible to drive through even large bumps at high speed, while not feeling strong shocks and vibrations.

What's the conclusion? Citroen Berlingo is ideal for solving utilitarian and family tasks. It is roomy, comfortable and affordable. There are no particular shortcomings (relative to competitors), which makes it an advantageous offer for a wide audience of consumers.
